Catan Assist
The board generator is designed to create a fair and engaging game of Catan. Play on the original board or select one of the 24 seafarers scenarios for either 3-4 players or 5-6 players. Moreover, the board generator contains multiple algorithms that you can use to create a game the suits your needs:
• Place resources non-adjacent to the same type or place them randomly,
• Distribute the numbers fairly over the board or place them randomly,
• Place the ports close to, or far from their resource or place them randomly.
The dice simulator can be used to reduce the luck factor during the game. By reducing the probability for numbers that have occurred more frequently than expected, the game will contain less luck and become more strategic. Of course, the amount by which the "luck is filtered" can be adjusted and by setting it to zero is becomes a completely normal game again.
Please note: This is not the Settlers of Catan game, it is a tool to improve the gameplay of the board game Settlers of Catan, Seafarers and Cities & Knights.

Developers please comment, and consider improving the following issues soon for better rating: 1) add holding the "generate" button to lock it, because for mist and fog scenarios it is easy to accidentally regenerate the map; 2) match the coloring of the tiles with the paper prints; 3) add initial settlement placement suggestions; 4) add other Catan expansions. This is a good app, it let's you generate the map for different scenarios, and roll the dices, keeping the turn time.
The ports don't line up the way they are on my Catan board. The app may place the clay port with both points in the same clay hex. On my board it comes out that only one point lines up to clay hex and the other goes to the neighbouring hex. Still playable but would be great if you can fix it. Edit: Thanks for responding. Convenient and intuitive. Could use a help to explain which color is which but when you figure out it's fine. My caveat is that the harbor layouts it sometimes generates just aren't possible, I've generated a layout with three 2:1 ports one next to the other, and with the six tiles you need at least one 3:1 between them. Would be nice if that could be corrected
Well made and essential it should be included with the board game. The visual could be improve but the good thing is it's a very small size app. The beginner settlement placement would be a nice addition.
I tried all the Catan layout generating apps and this one was better than the rest. Clear layouts generated from selectable rules - rules that you should use, as they make far better boards than random generation. The adverts included are not overly annoying. After using this several times I payed the small amount to upgrade to the "Pro" advert free version, it's well worth the money to support an excellent app! (spelling)
Great app! Super useful and customizable. It offers dice roll and turn timer as well as a board generator. You can customize it so it generates a difficult board or easy, where to place the harbors ( near, far or random from resource) and number placement.
This app is absolutely necessary when playing Catan and has so many great features. Definitely deserves a 5 star rating EXCEPT for one gripe I have: the port placements on the board are completely wrong than where they are placed on the actual board. Barring this, this app is a definite download for any Catan aficionado. EDIT: thankful for the developer response, as soon as the new update comes out that fixes this issue I'll gladly change my review. It's been a month, no update. Downgrading to 3
This app is great for setting up Catan games, just hit the generate button until you find a layout you like. I've only used it for the base (3-4 player) version but it does exactly what it should.
Free base map. Pro gives other map ($2.99) . Doesnt let you play on the map, no ai. App is meant to be the board. Not pieces tho. FYI ~I generated at least 50 maps and they were all the base game size ‐--------------------------------- Edit: After developer's message. App still does not generate maps other than the base map with free version. -1star
Great app, just one issue that could probably be fixed. When my phone is on dark mode, the colours get all messed up, and I don't know which is which. Will give a 5 star review if this is fixed!
Works very well for Catan base game (both 3 - 4 and 5 - 6 player versions), so bought the pro version. Then when I got Seafarers and tried the app there, I found that its Seafarers maps are wrongly sized - they are five hexes per side, whereas the game itself's maps (3 & 4 player version anyway) are four hexes per side. That makes it impossible to use for Seafarers games. Great for the Catan base game though, and the dice generator is also good.
It's a good app, but there isn't the option to generate 3 player maps. The 4 player maps are labelled for 3/4 but the seafarers maps really need their 3 player versions (4x4 hexes). Would be 5 stars if not for this.
Great app for generating Catan board. Only missing the titular gamemode from the Traders & Barbarians expansion. Recent update added a bunch of welcome features. Happy to see the app being maintained! (Edit: change star rating from 4 to 5)
Great app, extremely useful for players wanting a balanced map for vanilla and seafarers, hope that the app includes treasures dragons and adventures expansion in the future.
Fantastic app! One missing feature is that the seafarers expansion includes 3 and 4 player maps. Only the 4 player ones feature here.
The app is great. Feature request, be able to change the colors of the tiles to match 3D printed Catan games
Would love it if this would include a Cities and Knights option. It's the only version I play and I believe it's a lot more popular than the other expansions the app has. Can you add it please? 😊

I really like the simplistic ui of this app and was more than happy to upgrade to pro. Its one of the few generators that is actively updated. I increased my rating to a 5 star after inclusion of traders and barbarians scenarios. Super cool to have this now.
I install the app, but don´t see Cities and Knights option. I need the app to Cities and Knight 5/6 players; if I buy the pro version I get that option? Yes, very useful your information. Thx for your work. Gone buy pro version.
Fantastic app, bought the premium version immediately. One suggestion, is it possible to put the numbers 6 and 8 in red? And add the probability dots underneath the numbers?
Map generator is cool. Dice rolling won't make sounds on my phone. It works great on my wife's phone. It works perfectly on my tablet.

Lots of different scenarios. Nice tweak-able settings. Going to use this every time I play now! It's worth supporting the devs for the pro version!
The app is very good. The only thing that is not 100 percent is the dice. It is kind of spasmodic keeping the numbers even only on the long run.
Amazing App, I use it quite frequently when playing Catan. Only thing I would like is for the Traders and Barbarians Senario to be added (My group plays that Senario alot).
Feature request: Ability to select different colors for resources. For example my set uses red: brick, brown: wood, white: sheep, and we keep mixing up mainly bricks and wood due to the default app resources colors.
Hey this app is excellent! Thank you! Is there any chance of you adding an optional dice roll noise? Just to alert everyone that the button has been pressed. Also potentially a timer function to the dice roll screen? The app is fantastic and streamlined in its current state. Those are just some premium features I'd be happy to pay for. :)
