Certain experts jack up the value and say everything is in excellent order. There is nothing you can do about that. The experts are completely off limit from the buyer. Arbitary shipping costs are completely outrageous. You'll feel robbed and powerless. The seller is supposed to refund the difference, which they dont. It's impossible to know the shipping charge when the package does not say. Americans can't return an item, either. That said, I buy Viking artifacts and that is badass. Period.
Works well but doesn't remember logins. Every single time the app is opened you have to put in username and password. Pretty annoying.
Sad to see an "update" centering on new terms rather than on fixing obvious legacy shortcomings. Good luck with a stepwise search: 1) enter search word "diesel" and 2) subsequently pick a category such as "classic cars". Correct output is "all diesel classic cars" . Alas you get nothing, nada, zilch..
Cool ap for auctions. Nothing more nothing less. The "experts" in most cases are a joke and their "price estimates" are usually ridiculously overpriced. Iphone first generation bend full of scratches broken screen without the box, "expert estimate" : 160-200$ lol . So great place to sell not so great place to buy
The app version before 2021 was the best UI . Easy navigation. Appealing colours. Smooth. Since then, It is not appealing anymore.
A good app, responsive and quite user friendly. However the 'experts' are not easy to contact and can be quite inflexible when it comes to being challenged on reserve prices etc. A feature to send general enquiries via message or email would be useful. For example, I was supposed to receive a voucher by today for listing 11+ lots before a certain date, however I have not received it and have no way of asking anyone about this...
The site itself has a wide range of items but mainly from Europe, and as such although the items can be affordable the postage is often prohibitive (thanks Brexit!). The app itself is functional but limited, and would benefit greatly from more advanced search features such as the ability to search all auctions closing within a period of time, search UK or other specific countries only auctions, search based on postage charges. Hopefully, this aspect can be improved upon.
Read a lot of comments about bad experiences purchasing items. Bought 3 things and everything went well. In the app it used to be possible to sort the auctions on date, so you could see which auctions are ending soon. This was more fun to check and bid. Now its more difficult to just scroll through all the auctions for the day. Its just a lot less fun. Might be worth checking alternative apps. Also it is very difficult to find out how to reach the helpdesk via the app or the website.
I find the app is very user friendly and the items are well presented. However, I think the prices are higher than ebay and the "expert" valuations are always overstated to encourage higher bids. When you add on the 9% auction fee the cost is even higher. But what riles me above all are the EXORBITANT shipping costs. If you buy an item for €1000 you don't mind paying €35 for shipping costs, but when it's an item for €100 you do. Shipping costs are often twice what you pay on ebay.
Many features missing. Neither seller nor experts can be reached when there are uncertainties before bidding. Combined purchases from 1 seller: no way to save shipment costs or discuss that prior to winning. Huge shipping costs, fixed, even when seller is nearby and potentially willing to allow pickup on. Same item listed multiple times. Bad metadata (if any) - "pocket calculator" search today got a model car... the list is endlessly long. One star is even too much.
Some of the offers are not displaying the real price. Catawiki removed my complaint with not sufficient explanation. Some of the merchants are screwing you over and catawiki does not care at all.
refunded buyer who refused to pay customs charges on my item she had bid on and won!!! I still haven't received it back 5 weeks later. so now I have no idea and No Money. no support for Sellers
All around good experience. I have difficulties getting a person on the phone let alone text to address a specific issue. I have a few items I never received. There were 2 that were my fault as local post office held and sent back. Others no idea, and never showed credit on app. Thankfully, my real treasures have made it to me. I will continue with this app going forward.
This app could definitely be designed better - when looking at an item in the favourites and going back to all of them you are put right back to the start. So if you have many items this becomes quite an issue. Also the sense of seeing your favourites after bidding is ended doesn't seem straight forward. It would be good to see the items after rather than them dissappear
The rating seems manipulated. See google maps reviews, much lower. Customer support is practically zero. Totally understaffed. No response to any messages, even though it offers messenger as a channel. Nowhere an email address. FAQ totally obvious, anything more complicated they are just not interested in helping customers. Keeping their costs super low and providing minimal support
i have found many unique items on this app and its simple to use.
Very annoying that when you look for artworks, all you find is posters and prints. Who gives a f about prints, they should not allow them on a pro auction platform.
- Each version brings some new bugs. - There's no "user feedback" in the app. - Page/screen loading times are super slow despite being on a fairly fast phone. - Filters are not containing all existing labels (e.g. Brands under watches), so it's easy to overlook some lots.
SCAM Alert. Stay away from this platform. It's a large scale scam. Not save for buyer and seller. Fees are too high for buyer 9% and seller 15%. I got a very exensive vintage lens in very bad condition and it was not as discribed. The lens condition is 80% lost of value. We agreed with seller to partially refund. But both of us has to pay huge fees 40-60% of a full price bit, but not a final cost. Also you cannot contact seller before auction end for any details and additional images.
Customer service is absent: app works well but hope you will not have any issue with your item or delivery because if you do contacting customer service is basically impossible and they will not reply or help. I have been left alone on few occasions but still charged for full amounts. Not customer friendly at all.
In new version Favorite auctions are not sorted chronologically any more, and that makes app much harder to use. Edit: above issue has been resolved. Now except for slowness when loading large list of items, apps and platform has been great.
It used to be better. Ex: I could browse through all auctions coming up on any given day/time. I would buy anything on any given day. Now I'm forced to choose a category. And AI makes it worse. Not to forget the new logo, it's very ugly. Charm and UI lost. Bye.
Confirmation text not delivered. None of the 3 contact options for Customer Support are working. When I try to log in I get an almost blank page with the message "Forbidden"
