This app is pretty good. The vocabulary is systematically taught. The grammar is gradually built, do that while it is not directly taught, you don't get too lost. The games help with fluency (especially in reading and sentence order). Even with only five minutes a day on the free version, it is quite helpful. It is not a one stop app to learn Korean. (You will probably need supplemental sources to learn Hangul & grammar explainations.) However, it is pretty good at what it does.
It's a pretty fun app, a quick 5 minutes a day unless you pay the subscription fee which is reasonable. I find it to be pretty intuitive and easy to navigate. Using this app gets me practicing my speaking, even if it's only short sentences. I would rate it 5 stars except that sometimes it doesn't recognise that I'm speaking which is incredibly frustrating when it happens 3-4 times in a row. Ultimately I think it's a good app though, especially if you're just getting started learning.
Fun app. Love it! Too expensive for me at the moment but if i have the budget, i will subscribe to premium.
Very good. I love the design its so pretty. This app is good for building my vocab. The time limit is sad but the developers have to make money somehow so I'm okay with that. I haven't had very long but I like it a lot so far because I am hearing and memorising the words nicely
Very fun and interactive learning experience! I love how we learn not only single words but sentences. This way we can see how sentences are structured. Improving vocabulary and grammar at the same time. The free lessons are only about 5mins long/day. Take it one step at a time if you can't afford to pay. I really loved the way the lesson is made, so opted to get premium and so far it's well worth it! I only wish I had found this app sooner. Thanks so much to the developers! 감사합니다 ❤
Very fun app. I like the format and how interactive it is. My only suggestion is that the lessons need pictures. Many language learners benefit from developing the muscle memory that attaches words in their target language to the meaning or concept, not a translation (ex: instead of showing the word 'music' for 음악, show a musical note. Show a picture of someone dancing instead of the word 'dance'). I will keep using the app, but it needs more visual aids and less reliance on translations.
It has an interesting concept and I love the layout and the way it breaks it into bit sized pieces that help you with vocab, practice speaking & spelling, a useful sentence example for every word, and review past vocab. The service prices seem economic. I love it overall but the only downside for me is that the recharge time is only (5 min) per day. Not to mention, I still dont earn money so I can't really pay for the service in order to get unlimited time.
It didn't helped me. I didn't liked the games. I feel like that way the progress of learning is much slower than on some other good apps. The focus should be more on providing sample sentences, more difficult kind of exercises. I really disliked the exercises. It felt boring and the same for each (very short).
I like how the app is set up. The only think I would like to see fixed is the voice recognition for pronunciation. I said things horribly on purpose and only once did I get indication it was wrong when both times were garbage and I'm sure no one would have understood me. Also, the app doesn't pick up when I say 것을 in a sentence, but clearly understands the rest. I know I say it correctly, but that one word the app doesn't catch. Regardless I like the app and invited friends.
Slick UI, high quality audio, but navigation and the app's objectives aren't intuitive (I'm still figuring parts of it out) and the help section isn't really all that helpful. As others have said, it's really just a vocab app, and the monthly/annual subscription prices are very steep compared to similar quality apps for studying Korean that are currently on the market (many of which offer greater content). As a free user, you get 5 mins a day, which isn't really enough to do much of anything.
I love the way you can indicate what level you are and why you're learning in the first place. They do only give you 5mins a day for free time around the app, but after that I usually just do my quizzes with friends, as it doesnt require those mins. I'm loving how it teaches new words, having us pick out the characters, put the sentence in the right order, and speaking those sentences. As someone who has been studying korean for around 2 years on and off, this is one of the most fun ones yet! 💜
EDIT: you get a free trial that lasts for a few days but when ot ends youre limited 5 minutes of study and then you have to eait to use it again. to have unlimited time you have to pay. —————— This app is really good, it uses an interactive and fun method to learn so it doesn't get boring, theres goals that help you strive forward and achieve whilst also learning and you have the option to study with friends. Overall this app is one of my favourites to study korean and I definitely reccomend it.
Awful. Terrible music giving me a headache the whole time. Couldn't turn off. It wanted me to repeat what I heard, but you can't hear it over the Terrible music. It FORCED me to play with some stranger without letting me even get used to what was going on. It would be better with optional music and allowing to control it yourself.
LOVE the game-based learning, but I HATE that I recommend SO many people to the app, but the recommendation entry is difficult to find, so they miss it. Unless I'm standing next to them and create their profile for them, they miss it 100% of the time. They can't even add my name after creating their profile. The recommendation is lost forever. Sadness!!! 😭😭😭
This app is pretty awesome. I'm not bombarded with ads every time I open it and the user interface is easy to understand/use. The games and cards are really useful for memorization and being able to be heard through the mic helps me correct my pronunciation. The only thing I would like is if I could earn more time instead of having to pay for it.
..... I am just realizing that I have been playing and learning on Catch It Korean for 4 months...... it's been slow because I was busy over the summer, but ...... looking back, I have improved a lot. Thank you Catch It Korean developers and staff!!! This app is so cute and fun. All the other people on the app have been nice too. The staff/developers have been quick to address any issues. I have contacted them about errors in the English and they responded and corrected it in a timely manner.
Writing comment because of update. It was a bad idea to update like this. It was very comfortable, friendly and useful app - why cut method with syllables word making and make choose syllables section with answer on font. What the point of that? Also voice of woman in sentence section just awful. It's not only unpleasant, you can't understand anything as it's very unclear. I like the app and paid for it, but please return old version. Learning process more important than design of interface.
Pretty bad interface. Told the app I was intermediate level and had studied for two years and it said "super beginner" was my recommended course. Changed to the single intermediate course and that was still full of stuff I learned in my 101 course. The speaking practice is good in theory but actually punishes natural speaking patterns and pronunciation. Had it not accept a few of my Korean coworkers speech. Don't recommend for anyone that actually wants to learn.
When you tell an app that you're a beginner and the first thing it tries to teach you is, "I'm going to the concert hall wihh my friends", you have to think, "Hey, maybe this app is poorly designed". Maybe you should start with vocabulary building and not whole sentences? Pretty looking app, terrible teaching tool if you actually want tk learn the language and not just phrases.
This has become my favorite app for learning Korean. I like how it take small steps to teach you. Also you get to practice listening to the sentences and speaking it. I like it because I feel this app has helped me a lot in vocabulary then any other app. Also very interactive which is great because I get bored really easily.
The app is fun. It allows interactive learning. If you are a beginner, you may find it irritating to remember and pronounce new sentences. But as you become regular, you won't realize that you are able to speak many phrases automatically.
I just updated the app and to be honest I don't like the update. First of all there is a woman who talks at the background and she sounds like she came from google translate. Second, when the app asks me to write something the letters/ syllables shadows shown and I don't think that I can learn like that. PS: about the first thing idk if it's just mine that make that sound or everyone's, but if it's not just my please fix the problem because her voice is super annoying. Thank you.
The app works great. I even decided to share the premium experience with my friends by gifting them with a 1month premium. But I noticed that it's not working properly for them, the cards that I can send them are still the old cards that I'm tired of sending them. I've sent a customer support ticket, but it's not resolved yet still. Please fix this, as I'd like to make sure that my money is getting its full value for my friends via premium gifts. Thank you and God bless.
I like the app very much! It's fun and interactive and the atmosphere is great! The only problem I have with it is that robotic voice that reads Korean when you have to put a sentence or a word together, it's unnecessary and ruins the overall impression.
It great. But I am symbol deaf. So I'm having a hard time hearing the whole sentence. If I could start with just one word at a time before learning sentences, I'd learn it better. Although, the structure and learning technique is good.
It's a great app for learning and expanding your vocabulary! The only con in it is the difference between the free and the premiun accounts, but I understand why it is like this, the developers did an awesome job with it! Oh, and the outomatic voice that reads single syllables often mispronounce them, so is good to watch this out.
Really love this app. More helpful they other apps I've found, Just wish there was a way to skip words already learn, more of a variety of lessons, and a way to watch ads for more time! Besides that, definitely needed this! Thank you!
I reallyy like this app! You get to practice with friends, you can dress a little character and I'd like to use it more but I only get 5 minutes so I can barely learn anything and I don't even have to pay that much for most streaming services for a subscription so I think this would be great if you had little to no motivation.
A excellent app to learn Korean. Only problem I'm facing after using it for a while is that microphone doesn't detect long sentence in one go when exchanging cards with friends and I have to repeat same sentence over and over again for 20 minutes for it to be analysed. It works fine during self studying. I have checked my microphone through google assistant and it works just fine there as well. Don't know how to go solve this problem because it's really annoying, time consuming and exhausting.
