Catholic Daily Readings

On 4/18/2022, I received an email from the APP developer advising that they had made improvements and asking that I re-evaluate. I did so over the past few days and, while the APP is improved, it fails when the phone in is airplane mode (i.e., no WIFI & no cellular data), so I can't use it. They did fix the reliance of the readings to be USA (USCCB) rather than Canada, so that's better, but it depends on an internect connection to USCCB in order to work. While that's definitely an improvement, USCCB is a little messy in display on an Android phone and I prefer the previously well-formatted and non-internet reliant version that the older version of this APP had. All-in-all, it is improved and will likely be OK for most users, just not me. Therefore, I'm changing my rating from 1 to 4 stars. It would've gotten 5 stars if they had never messed with what wasn't broken to begin with. I'll continue to rely on iBreviary as I can d/l up to 14 days of reading and be fully functional when no WIFI or data service is available. Also, the readings are well-formatted for easy reading on and Android phone screen. The following is my comment from 1/13/2022 when I gave the APP 1 star: Still no improvement over the update earlier this month. They took a useful app and "improved" it into a useless, cumbersome app. I used it daily and now find it useless. I've suggested that they return it to pre-January update status, but no. I am now removing it and using IBreviary instead. Too bad they messed up this app.

I went to this app to supplement my daily readings. Then i added the prayers to my daily devotional. But what is most valuable about this app--and truly unique--are the daily reflections. Inspirational. The amount of wisdom, inspiration, devotion in such short (under 5 mins) is the most amazing thing. These people are truly inspired by the Holy Spirit! EVERYONE should begin their day with this!

I reinstalled this app because they responded that they improved the app. Still only takes you to a web page for daily readings. Kind of pointless as an app. It is more or less a glorified set of bookmarks.

Accurate, and precise to the date. But I faced a challenge during the festive season, whereby a day could have multiple readings ( for example, readings for Christmas vigil, the readings for midnight masses ). The app provided only one optio,(that was normal reading for the day,"Friday 24th,2021" ),the other readings couldn't be traced. . Otherwise, it's great 😊😊😊

Just the daily readings without sentimental artwork and sentimental 'uplifting' thoughts. Just what I wanted. Thank you. I hope the update to the app is still ongoing. Its quite slow now. I do like that the readings lead in to YouTube.

I am disappointed with the sudden change in the app considering I have been using it for quite a long time. Usually, the readings appear upon opening. Now, different links are shown and one is to access the daily reading. It seems the update/ upgrade is taking too long that I had to install another app.

Still waiting 4 the update since Jan 1, the devs contacted me on 4-18 stating they made some updates that l will love. As of today 4-22, NO DAILY READINGS. The rating stays @ 1 star as their isn't a zero......still no daily reading, just a refreshing notice. The app is useless 4 my use or interest. Today is 5-17, still no daily readings, THE APP IS USELESS

A great way to increase your faith! A great app to have. I will enjoy it for as long as I can. It is very handy! Very worth reading. Mass readings on the go! I will use it for as long as I can. Very worth keeping. Wonderful. Easy to enjoy. A good way to increase my faith. Useful. Very inspirational! Very easy to use. Great to use for learning about the scriptures. I've had the old version. I used it mainly for the daily readings. It was good but now they changed the way you access the daily readings. And they linked it to a website. I am unable to open any other readings besides the daily one and i don't like that. Before i could open the calendar and choose any day. On the plus side they added viewable masses and other prayers. 3 stars. I downloaded laudate instead. They have the order of the mass, daily saint, and calendared readings from usccb too.

Not crazy about the ads, but the app is easy to use, the readings are easy to find, the print is a nice size. This is a good tool for my morning reflection time. I'm disappointed that this newer version does not label the liturgical feast days and the Saint feast days.

The look of the app upon opening is different, but I liked the old look. I can't get any reading now. Not sure what's happening. Is it still under construction? I still can't get any readings, but everything else works great. I miss being able to get the readings.

I truly enjoy reading the Epistles & Gospels on a daily basis. I meditate on the words and try to apply their meaning into my life. 2022 Update: I love this app even more with the option of having the daily readings recited to me! The only enrichment I would like is an explanation of what God is saying to us, (especially the Old Testament and some of Jesus's parables) instead of me trying to figure it out.

The second generation/ update of the app is Horrible!!! Before the update, This was the BEST APP that could be found! I used it EVERYDAY for Morning Prayer. Being able to hear and see the readings at the same time, made it feel like a service. Please go back to the Old Version!!!

2022 "update" is a quantum leap backward. Why would anyone want to be directed to a website for the daily readings? The website uses a tiny font, whereas the 2021 version had a large font, directly in the app. I will most likely uninstall this app, as the 2022 version is practically unusable.

I was very satisfied with this app until your 2022 update!! What did you do to the app??? FIRST: the wording and responses are not VERY close to what is being read (the 2021 edition was). SECONDLY: when I go to the Saturday vigil Mass, I can't get the readings for Sunday Mass (As I was able to with the 2021 version)? LASTLY, the font is different. Am I able change it to the other darker/bolder sized font? Paul

Great app ! The developers have made a great effort and improved the experience! If they could make it load faster it will be worth 5 stars!

The App is easy to use and navigate, the issue is with audio when you click on play it doesnt allow to stop and resume in between rather it keeps reverting to the start. Also while hearing the daily readings the App is not like YouTube or others where it stays on, you have to keep touching the screen for it to stay on otherwise it switches off the App and audio.

I don't like the new update...I much preferred when the daily readings appeared within the app itself. My internet is poor so having to click a link and navigate to another website is often a challenge. Could the dev team bring back the old way of displaying daily readings? Thanks and God bless.

Not happy with the latest changes. The readings are not exactly as used by the Catholic Church. It seems to be a modernization of order and words.

I would like to be able to go to readings on others dates. That function doesn't work.

I had rated this a 4 star previously. But the 2022 version is not as good as the previous version. Although the font is larger, the information is more vague. If it wasn't broke, you shouldn't have changed it.

Update, readings are back. Update, two weeks later and still no readings or reflections. Update: seems to drop its connection about once every two weeks. Simplicity. Reliability. These are the 2 words that I would use to describe this app. I love the interface I don't have to dig to find the readings. Since I've been using this app over 2 years I've only had several days where it was unable to pull down the readings for the day. I like the fact that it's easily readable without any extra stuff.

The church speakers in my local parish are sometimes too weak to be heard or are muffled at times. As a result, I do not often hear the speaker clearly. But since I have the app, reading it a few minutes before mass begins helps me keep up with what the reader is saying, as well as what the homily is about. 5 stars for being simple, easy and accurate.

I loved this app when it was first installed. I still love the mass options and features but since about a week ago I've been unable to get the daily readings because it is stuck in some kind of refreshing mode no matter what I've tried. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Must be some kind of bug as I've noticed others are experiencing the same problem. Please help. Working good today. Thanks.

The other app you had prior to this updated version was so much better. The readings are different because it's from Vancouver Canada. It's not like the other app. Wish you didn't change it. So disappointed.

just nice to have the readings and a reflection

Same wordings during mass. Even when it's unavailable in the app, the Web link is inserted. The link takes me to the reading of the day on their website though I will like to have it on the map.

Too much ads and sometimes the readings of the day differ from the one in the calendar and you don't know which one is the correct. But, in anyway I am enjoying it. Thanks for the app. And would like more features, like an short summary of the daily readings.
