I've owned or used Acid, FL studio, Logic, Live, Garage Band, Protools, and Bitwig. Although each daw has its pros, Caustic 3 is the absolute quickest way for me to get an idea down. I'll make 90% of a beat in Caustic 3 and then send it to Bitwig for all of the final touches. I wish it had a finger drumming/MPC style sampler and a tutorial for the 8bitsynth instrument but other than that it is perfect for me.

I've been using Caustic since the very first version. I've been running this 'Caustic 3' on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ for the last '3+' years. Despite the fact 'Caustic 3' hasn't been updated since 2017 (which is really sad) this mobile-friendly DAW is still a superb music composition app. I use 'Protools' and 'Cubase' on the pc. To have a DAW with this level of functionality and workflow on a mobile is mind-blowing. The ability to export stems as wavefiles to use in other DAW's is superb.

An amazing piece of music software for Android, the lack of updates is concerning though. (You'll get a version notification installing onto Android 11, but it still does work) Paid for the full version regardless, I needed some backing rythims for playing Hammer Dulcimer. Happy with the app all in all. I'm really hoping the dev(s) sees fit to give the backend a refresh soon. -This should not become abandonware!

I cannot even begin to praise this app enough from the fact that it lets you do almost everything you need to in the free version to the fact that it has just as many features as a computer application to the fact that it runs well it has an incredibly vast selection of tones and instruments everything about this software is near-perfect and the only thing that I could ever ask for to be added is PCM sampling and it's still perfect without it

I would normally give 5 stars, but ny phone version won't let me change individual beatbox channels. Trying to change results in only taking me to sample editor folder as though beatbox was PCM. So, completely handicaps my technique. Most of the synths sound like old sample based grooveboxes, where you always have a sort of dusty, dirty, scratchiness, which you can never hide or mask very well when you need clean output. It's good, but limited, unless great effort out in. But fair for the price

this app is absolutely amazing! its easily the best daw for mobile devices, and very easy to use. i just want one thing tho, which is an easier way to sample songs. i don't like how i have to chop up the sample into 8 measure parts, i believe it makes things harder than they need to be. if you could make it so you can just put a whole song into caustic without chopping it up, that would be so great!

This app, all in all, is splendid. I'm only giving it 4 stars because I've had weird glitches within the projects. One of them is when you try to skip from one place on the song sequencer to the next place, it just freezes, making some awful screech. And sometimes when you try to move the bar to rid the freezing, it just continues to screech. I don't understand why its doing that when the song sequencer had worked before. Please fix this sometime in the near future so I can rate 5 stars.

A beautiful and useful app, appropriate for anyone interested in music. Fantastic UX/UI. Complex activities are in plain sight, yet basic functionality is not hard to find. The samples sound great. Want to import a MIDI of your favorite song and reorchestrate it in a totally different style? Takes about 5 minutes. Want to learn about music theory? I couldn't think of a better "notepad" to quickly enter musical patterns. Even pros on the go can use it to make real music. Good job, Developers!

This is an incredible app - great interface with very intuitive controls. You can create your own songs, or just make loops, it's very open-ended with LOADS of instrumental variety (most of which is via the PCM Synth, btw, if you're about to try the app out). I use this app WAY more than any other app, and even after having it for so long and using it so much, I am STILL finding new features, etc. I'm still growing as a musician - and that is at least in part because of this amazing app!

I had been using this app for years, somehow not realizing there were latency settings. Recently, I found them and set the latency to lowest, as well as portrate mode. These two settings completely changed the way I enteract with the app. I'm blown away by the power and functionality of caustic. It's amazing how many features are packed into this app. Any one of the soft synths contained within are worth the full cost of the app on their own. If only you could record samples to the timeline...

This is the best app on Android period. It's the only reason I still want to have a smart phone. The work flow is simple, the power is incredible. When I have a music idea, I can pull out my phone and execute it. This app isn't updated often, and it doesn't need to be, because it's incredible exactly as it is. The money spent on this is the best money I've ever spent. Easier to use than any other music app on android. Offers features nothing else does on any platform. The best tutorial videos I've ever watched for anything in Electronic music. I recommend this over getting a Deluge, an OP1. This is the way.

Holy moly is this an app to use. Just as I thought there was no usable DAW for Android, I found this on a wednesday morning. When I opened the app, the song playing on the background of the tutorial really dropped my jaw. Also the fact that with latency set to lowest made it very possible to play as a live synth with a MIDI keyboard attached. The WAV editor is also a really good bonus. Alas, you can't merge multiple files. Works great just as an audio editor. Bought it within 10 minutes. Solid.

Considering the platform this app is made for, this DAW is solid. A great audio tool convincingly based on real hardware and sound equipment, seemingly a nod to 'Rebirth' if anyone remembers that!? The synthesis seems solid enough (on headphones at least). The GUI is clear and intuitive keeping you in the flow. Not a replacement for high-end software and gear, but I'll definitely be using it to get ideas together away from the studio. Well done to the Caustic team.

It's basically an unofficial version of Propellerhead's mega popular DAW + rack mount hardware emulator "Reason" (in both looks & function), but built from the ground up for Android/smartphones instead of PC's & Mac's. It's only real issue is that development was ended in early 2017, so don't be expecting any additional updates/changes (like wide aspect ratio [>=18:9] support in landscape mode for ex.) going forward. Other than that though, it's absolutely bloody brilliant.

Unfortunately abandoned, but this is a great app for getting inspiration, sketching out little ideas, and general musical messing around. Most of the controls are fairly intuitive, and although stuff like the modular and the 8bitsynth are hard to control the random stuff you encounter in the process is valuable in itself. Overall I've had a blast using this app on and off for over three years

Powerful without being overwhelming. Highly recommend checking the video tutorials linked in the app. If you're interested in music making, especially electronic or hiphop, you should at least check it out. It's very fun. You can also get skins if you find the look outdated. Edit: after Android 11 I can't load files outside of the Caustic/device folder. This hurts my workflow and I don't want to mess with my organised samples or paste a bunch of duplicates. Google did this to a lot of apps

Definitely the best app for making music and dropping musical ideas on the go. I have used CAUSTIC for years and find it to be superior to any of the other apps on the market for the price. For anyone experiencing a bit of a learning curve with CAUSTIC, you MUST watch the YouTube videos for detailed explanation that is even great for newbies. Three thumbs up to CAUSTIC and the awesome developer and the BETA testers for all of the wonderful work put into this app. Keep up the good work !!!!

Amazing app that hasn't been updated in a while and still suffers from the terrible issue of burning through your battery as fast as it can. It's great if your device is always plugged in, but the whole point of this is to have something good on the go. If you put your device into power saving mode, it won't impact the app but your battery will last way longer.

Basically this app is the biggest bargain on Google Play. Hours and hours of fun, loads of options. I've been making music for years with instruments and this was my first DAW, I couldn't ask for more. When I had a problem the response from the help email was prompt and accurate , even when the root of the problem was with my device. RESPECT

Voice, that literaly the only thing music related that this program can't do. It lets you do everything else you can do in a studio, in your pocket... on the go. For the price it is a complete steal. And dont mind the last update date, the program haven't been updated much becouse that there is nothing else you could add to it. (Adding voice would be impossible becouse its nature as a phone program)

Its. Apr 8, 2022

Its a really good app, But it needs more instrument slots for synths when it comes to big projects, Like you can only have 2 slots of Effects on the Effects, and also for placing notes on the piano roll its just hard when looking and seeing on the notes like where it is, We need a better workflow on this app, I'm not saying its bad it just missing a few things.

Era. F. E. Feb 2, 2020

I've been using this app for years basically as a beat machine sampler. For the Android, making samples to use in the drum machine as either hits or loops is relatively easy after "unlock" the sound editor. My main band preforms with this live. Sometimes we just play to a pattern or to an entire sequenced song. The sequencer on this app is amazingly intuitive. This a great daw to have in yr pocket or on a tablet-- support is lacking but it's cheap!

This is powerful. Dive in and let the days fly into a record contract. FOR DAYS. I'm grateful for the attention to detail concerning the quick adaptation of an organic workflow. I'm doing everything with two fingers and half a hit... I mean phone, a whole phone and it all flows. I can't wait for the next version if there is one. Between this, Dolby On and Amuse, I'm pretty satisfied. Somehow, we've managed to skip the whole Mastering Process. Everything is Volume correct when bounced out...

The fx could be improved a lot as they often have a lot of feedback that's hard to control without changing the sound. And the reverb is very plain with only one type of sound to it. I've had other digital synths with better reverb than this synth with more reverb tones as well. The sounds produced are ok but some knobs aren't as sensitive or as ranged as they should be. I also seemed to have problems with cutting out measures on one synth and it spreading to the others randomly.
