Why am I all the sudden having to pay a yearly subscription when I paid for a lifetime years ago. All the sudden it says my subscription expired. Really enjoy the app and definitely worth the $.99 a year, but I would think you would honor the lifetime subscriptions from the people that subscribed back when that was the option. From seeing the reviews there are others that think this is bad business! Still giving a 5 star because I do like the app and the work put in to keep it up to date.
Extremely useful app! If you travel throughout the U.S., it's extremely important for those who conceal regularly, to stay on top of the perpetually changing laws of the states that you may be visiting. This app is managed by an incredible team of subject matter experts who are always right out in front of these changes state-by-state, saving us hours on research and planning prior to each our trips.
For everyone complaining about your subscription being expired after purchasing the app: read the instructions and select "restore existing subscription". The info appears to be accurate, although reading through all the legal jargon can become tiring. Also, the laws for Oregon at least weren't up-to-date, as you can no longer carry within airport terminal buildings outside of secured areas. This was a recent change made to the laws that I specifically searched for to vet the app's accuracy.
This is a great app. However I bought what my understanding was a one-time, i.e lifetime subscription in 2013, in other responses they've lied claiming it's always been a yearly .99 cents subscription. I purchased it for 1.49 in 2013 and have never paid 99 cents for a yearly subscription. I'll probably pay only because of Google rewards surveys.
I bought and paid for this app a few years back and LOVED it but all of a sudden I'm being told I have to pay for a subscription because mine expired... No thanks. I didn't buy the app only to be forced into a yearly subscription. It's been fun but time to find another app. I know it's only .99 cents but it's the principle. Forcing original purchasers to move to subscription based... Shame on you.
As with all others. I previously purchased this app years ago and am now, upon repurchasing due to a device change, being told to subscribe.....utter garbage. The app is supposed to come with 2 years free sub yet I'm being told to pay. I have had the money refunded for purchase and deleted the app. As had been said it would be one thing to approach current users or grandfather them as opposed to just dumping this BS on them after having purchased under other terms.
I'm one of those users that purchased this years ago when there was no subscription fee. I understand why you might feel a need to now charge a on going fee since you do a good job maintaining the data.....but you should have considered a subscription version with added benefits instead of charging folks who bought it in the past. I realize we're not talking about a large sum of money, but its the principle.
This is my go to app for travel and staying legal while carrying. I haven't researched everything I've found here, but everything I have has turned out to be accurate. I trust this app for a high level overview of states I may travel to.
It's okay. It's nice to have the actual law but it would be a lot more useful if they condensed things into bullet points (e.g. in "prohibited places"). Looks like they just copy and paste the relevant law for you to read and interpret. Also, not sure my app subscription should have already expired after 3 months - did not penalize the rating for this but FYI it MAY have expired early.
Got excited about this, but found that the laws seemingly are not kept up to date. Looked around the app some more, and discovered that you have to sign up for a $1/year "Subscription" to have access to current laws. The laws included without the subscription are locked at whatever was current as of 7/1/2020, even if you buy the $2 app in 2022. A new purchase should at least get the current laws as of date of purchase, not laws that are almost two years out of date. Screw this company.
Reciprosity map stopped working. After the latest updates it no longer recognizes my permits. This includes my home state and two additional states. Not recommended until the reciprosity issue is fixed. I re-entered my three permits and submit. i refreshed but the app does not show the 30 or so States which offet reciprocity. I also turned off and restarted my phone. My next step is to delete your app and reinstall. maybe a fresh reinstall will help.
Great and extremely informative. It's a 2 year subscription. When you first open it says subscription expired but just tap "restore subscription" choose your associated google play account and it will load right up pushing the date out by 2 years from purchase. $0.99 after the first 2 years is 100% worth it.
Had other apps of this nature for out of state travel. Needed an updated version as the one I relied on, previously, when I carried occasionally hadn't changed in over a year... I'm carrying 24/7 now and stumbled across this app looking for updated law. Now I don't think I'll ever have to look again! Worth exponentially more than I paid.
Bought this in Nov 2016 as a one-time purchase. There was absolutely no mention of a subscription and even if there had been, it would have run out two full years ago. Now, I have to pay again and keep on paying. The amount is immaterial. This is a dirty move and you should be ashamed of yourselves. Dev mentions of 'always been a subscriber model' are a complete fabrication. The only acceptable solution is to grandfather in anyone who bought it before you actually added a sub model.
After purchasing, I opened the app on the same day to find a message saying the subscription, which was advertised as a 2 year subscription, has expired a of last year. Also discovered the information is incorrect. Iowa became a constitutional carry state effective 7/1/21. Upon opening after the purchase on 7/28/21, Iowa is still down as requiring a permit. As did Texas, which also went to constitutional carry. I'm not paying for an app with wrong info. Uninstalled and requested a refund.
I have used this app for years, I have always loved the app and I use it all the time, but I just did the update and it pretty much shutdown my phone. Couldn't make calls, couldn't load web pages, and apps would not load. As soon as I deleted it the phone worked fine. Not sure why this happened. Any help?
I have had this app for going on 5 years now, and it never ceases to amaze me how the app developer(s) consistently keep these very important laws/information updated. I also like to reference the U.S. Constitution on occasion that can still be found under the state list tab, then tap on federal, or by tapping state map tab, then on our U.S. flag. This app is an extremely useful tool in helping to keep us on the right side of the law when it comes to concealed carrying. GREAT JOB ON THIS APP !
This is a great one stop shop if you want to keep abreast of all the state laws and the current changes. This would take you dozens of hours to do on your own and it's all at your fingertips... what a great tool to have at your disposal to make sure that you're in compliance with all the CCW laws state by state... I highly recommend this app.
I have used this app for years and even purchased the app to support the developer. But now in addition to buying the app, I have to pay a subscription fee? I tried to contact the developer to express my concern about this and heard nothing back. I guess it is time to uninstall and look for another app to use. I will no longer be recommending this app to people I know. - a former user (Reply to Developer): I can understand you did not receive my email but my real concern is w/ subscription.
Bought this 9 years ago, as a one time purchase. This subscription thing is new. I will be uninstalling. App is useless if it isn't updating info, and I'm not paying a yearly fee when I purchased this in full, before they decided to change to a subscription model
Extremely useful and can't thank the creators/managers enough for the regular work and research that goes into keeping everything up to date. An addition that could show some benefit even is to add a permit option for active duty military. There are states that do not have constitutional carry but allow service members to conceal with nothing more than their military ID, such as Ohio.
Good app, but like many others I purchased this app some time ago in a flat fee, one time deal. Although the subscription cost is inexpensive and I did receive credit towards the subscription for having "purchased" this app, the dishonest and unethical practices from the developer(s) is very disappointing.
Once paid for, came to check on it, and the author decided to revoke licensing for everyone to make this a yearly app. I understand the need to support the development of an app, but the practices of this app developer are shady at best. Beware of increased pricing for an underwhelming application, to which all of the information for each state is easily accessible. Bookmark the pages you need, instead of paying highway robbery for an app that makes it convenient. $2 a year, no thanks.
