Cell Spy Catcher (Anti Spy)
For several years the FBI and Local Police have been listening to our Calls and Reading our Text Messages, using so-called "IMSI-catchers". One Example of such a "Fake Cell Tower" is the "Stingray", which is produced in the USA.
"Stingrays" are Mobile Devices that simulate Cell Phone Towers, forcing nearby Phones to Connect to them. They can Identify your Phone, and possibly listen to your Calls. Without having to put a Spy app in your Phone!
These "Cell Spy" Devices can capture Information from All Cell Phones within Range, including IMSI Identity, Location, SMS Messages, Call Logs and Call content. (IMSI stands for "International Mobile Subscriber Identity", which will Identify your Phone).
It is known that at least 53 Agencies in 21 States own "Stingrays".
Law Enforcement Agencies, Foreign Powers
- and possibly Criminals
- are using such "Cell Site Simulators" for Surveillance Purposes
- without our knowledge.
"Cell Spy" Devices can be Hand-carried, or be mounted in Vehicles, Airplanes, Helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
During a Self Learning Process, the App will "learn" all Networks (Cell Towers, Base Stations) that are used by your Phone.
After the Self Learning Process
- if this App should happen to Detect one of these "Cell Spies", you will be Warned by an Optional Sound and/or an Optional RED Screen. The simplest way to avoid being Listened In On, is then to turn off your Phone for a while, or at least to keep silent.
When the App Detects a Network that is not included in its Internal Database, it will Consult an External Database of Networks. If the Network is not Found there, it is assumed to be UNKNOWN.

How To Use:
After you have Opened the App the First Time, you should Start the Self Learning Process (which may take a few Days), and have the Phone with you at All Times

If you move to another place, you should Restart the Self Learning Process.
By using this App, you participate in the large collaborative community project "OpenCellID"
- which collects the Locations of Mobile/Cellular Phone Towers, which now is a Database that contains almost 7 million unique Mobile/Cellular Phone Tower IDs. Use of this Database will increase the Probability of Detecting REAL UNKNOWN Cell Towers
- and thus to Find "IMSI-Catchers"
- and you can be an Active Part if it!

Seems to work perfectly. I like that it is a little more cautious then some of the other apps Ive tried. If you are reading this review to get functionality info prior to download. Make sure you either turn off your notification sound. Or just use vibrate. I say this only due to you will receive many alerts and the sound is a bit scary. It will def startle you. Just a word to the wise. đ.
Four Stars - This particular app I've researched and is rated one of the best - and only - apps that are really able to trace IMSI Catchers. It's quick and easy to set up, and before it actually runs it takss time to study it's entire surroundings not for minutes or hours, but for a few days - which makes it very accurate. Its the best on the market for being a free app that works as far as I'm concerned, and highly recommend it above and beyond the others.
This app is an mmeasurably important cellular network/tower data tool. The app maps and then continually collects information to analyze. This is essentially how it functions, but I am amazed by it just the same. The developers explain terminology and how data collected is used to gauge warnings as well as address a whole host of other issues pertaining to this subject. All data collected can be saved and exported into CSV, a readily available format for later use and study; all from with in the all itself! My fav app of all time. And I have loved many, but you guys have outshone them all.
I don't know who or why, but I had noticed my texts were sometimes taking upwards of two days to get to the intended recipient. So I downloaded this app and it was unbelievable how many times these govt. stingrays were invading my privacy. They still hit me daily and I have to blacklist them within 30-60 seconds to make sure they don't get into my phone or laptop. Everything is great except that I have to continue on a daily basis re-blacklisting. Would be nice not to have to do that each day.
The simplicity of this app is why it still works and all the other stingray detector projects have stalled. I see some users are having a problem with it still not being ready after a few days. You need to leave the house and go collect the towers in your area. It won't calibrate if you don't go anywhere.
LoveD this app and I appreciated knowing the few times I needed to remove the battery from my phone. Problem is lately 'activity' around here has picked up and nothing from the app. Most of the time when I open it up lately it fails and crashes. I was in it looking for update maybe I missed and the List of Detected Networks was nothing but a black space. I think maybe this app used to rock (I thought it did), but now.. not so much and afterall.. it is offered in the Google play store. Deleting.
Not for the novice, isn't user friendly, info that I I rec'd from it wasn't useful and it's slow; so I uninstalled it. It could do with a Tutorial, that doesn't require a sign - in, that explains all the features; so that The Applications' Use can be maximized...
Doesn't help if you deploy in a geographic already heavily or completely intercepted. In fact i suspect it's actually working backwards in such an environment. HOWEVER, the data being obtained could still be useful, used manually.
Does what it says; UI is clunky and outdated, as are the notifications but not many apps give this many features for cellular, if at all... Like cellular wardriving.
Please show and log eNb instead which is widely used from other apps. Expect to remove wrongly learned UNKNOWN towers from detected network list to make the app worked properly and meaningfully. When mobile data is disabled, lots of UNKNOWN NETWORK are recorded erroneously which is the said the INTERNAL ERROR. Need to remove wrongly added Whitelist individually. Both Visual warning and Network text on notification are malfunctioned. Keep it up!
This is not easy to use.... For whatever reason it will not display any data. Even after I reluctantly signed up for the "OpenCellID" database. The access that received to the worldwide database was useless as it was not even remotely close to the geographic area of interest I wanted. I feel this app has a lot of work left to be done. Don't waste your time.
Used to work, no longer works. I had all of the notifications enabled, and I never heard a thing. Nothing ever showed up in the logs either, even though it is painfully obvious that my phone is tapped. I hear an excessive amount of noise when I am talking to someone over the phone, all the time. Sometimes worse than others. Sorry, but I'm done with this app.
Can you make it learn quicker? So far i can only give it 1 star. NOTHING seems to be happening but battery drain. My ears are ringing so i suspect the stingray technology is being used in my neighborhood. Sure dont enjoy being tortured with loud ear ringing and frequencies for days on end. Ill give you 5 stars if anything actually happens. Mkay. Bye.
You know what I have tried this many times over a 2 year period and this is what I think .. there is an issue that bothers me and that is I don't get notified at the time of the event , it registered and detects it but I do not get a notification, it might just be me on my end . Other than that it's an app that does what it says, I exported the detections and viewed on Google sheets and there it all is time length, date , carrier, ect. To the devs you deserve a hug but you get thank u instead.
