This map is essential for getting the truth of coverage. Nationwide means the carrier lied! You probably don't need the app if you aren't contributing though, just go to the map on website. And if you are contributing--It's a learning curve. This a technical field that some would prefer left obtuse for their own gain. And then there are the problematic implementations by the phone manufacturer... This app is just about as perfect as it can be.
Used to be good, not so much now. When I first started using the app, it added the data liked they advertised, within a week. Sometime during the summer, my data stopped showing up. I complained, and they suggested I try the premium service and data would show up within hours. All it did was return the weekly updates for the first month. By the second month, the data is taking about a month. I've now cancelled, and I'm not sure I'll do anymore collections. 2020/03/05: there data updates are good
Seemed OK at first. But didn't explain enough to a person with limited operational knowledge. Needed to be able to actually input my carrier. Also, I just wanted to see the closest towers to me to decide which provider I would like to switch to. I am on Total Wireless and it seems to not be a good choice for my locality. I think this app is great for very knowledgeable people but, I think for a newbie, not as much. Great job for who it is designed for. Wasn't a fit for me. 😕
It has a few minor issues. But it's great for showing you exactly what cellular signals you're getting. But my favorite feature is that it shows you where your towers are, on a coverage map, along with where you need to go if you need a signal and don't have one. (The big drawback here is that you have to have a signal to even see the coverage map.)
Very informative on my Pixel 4. I see that towers near me are being updated. However, the learning curve is steep; e.g., you need to learn what bands are relevant to you elsewhere. And the app is buggy; it stops running overnight or becomes locked to one tower. Also the tower selection UI needs improvement; it may show an old tower that hasn't been seen in over a year on top of a newer one and there's no easy way to select overlapped towers except excessive tapping until they're selected.
s22ultra 908U1 app is failed all the time, need to reboot phone 3-5 times to make it work. android12
The app is so bugy on Xiaomi devices, that I can't even scroll through settings without non stop glitches and unresponsiveness. It was perfectly fine before last update when it all got worse, it doesn't even record data how it's supposed to do, it has so many gaps between data points, even if there is perfect signal recieved by the phone...
Was great for a week but recently it's a waste of time, uploads don't appear on the map. The help needs updating, says uploads are processed almost in real time, quickest I have had Was a few days and recently they just seem to go into a black hole.
All I want to do is locate my nearest cell tower so that I can determine if a signal booster will work for my apartment. Websites recommend this app over and over again. I installed the app and it looks like something from the movie the Matrix and requires the app be able to make phone calls and disable power saving mode. Really!? This seems excessive for locating one stupid tower.
When I click on the google maps icon when viewing the maps I get a error message that google maps is not installed or disabled. I have google maps installed. Also should the app display a line to the tower I am connect too in map view? It does not for me. That would be a great enhancement.
For the last several days, it has been impossible to upload data points to the server due to 'Maintenance'. Also, I am constantly being logged out of my account in the App and sometimes not able to log back in. No communication from Cellmapper about any issues.
Great app! Takes a while to accumulate enough data to start showing up on the map but seems pretty accurate. Only negative is it's a monster power hog. Have to keep my phone plugged into the car charger if traveling over an hour.
Excellent if your into helping the community know where the best spots are for signal. If your worried about privacy this isn't the app for you. But would be a good tool to show via breadcrumbing how your tracked. Love the app, use it at work to know where i can go to give my laptop signal.
It's a mess in numerous arenas. mapping is inaccurate, no actual CID numbers just their own proprietary id's which are useless, both in landscape & portrait missing text around entire screen, lousy layout and architecture, collects data even when you deny. Good riddence!
Awesome for mapping coverage and showing advanced info like the tower ID, sector, band info etc... -1 star because it occasionally forgets my login and have to re login but not a big deal. Awesome app and better than all the other coverage mapping applications like Sensorly or OpenSignal etc...
I gave CellMapper ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ because it does what I want when I want it. Normally I've had good signal while wandering the Southwest, so who cares where the cell towers are. But when the signal is weak I want to know so that I can "aim" my mifi device using my RV as a collector/reflector to concentrate the the signal. I seldom use CellMapper but when I need, I need it. Pixel 3XL Android 10
Very good helps camping I live in a van and when trying to find new spots to stay reception is a factor just wondering why it doesn't show all reception towers it just seems to show main towers in big towns but when I actually get to a spot and click the option located data calculated it shows the towers around me that weren't previously there please show all towers in areas so I know if there are any nearby before I go there
Doesn't load maps and crashes. Using a OnePlus N200 5g device and upon launch the maps don't load. After about 10 seconds the app crashes and unloads. No notification that app crashed. Loved using this app on LG and Samsung devices, but not on the OnePlus.
Does a good job of mapping local towers and triangulating a position for them, needs a hand sometimes to place accurately, which is to be expected. Needs a few passes to build up a full picture, and some areas in the UK you're a pioneer but that doesn't stop the app being useful. Some areas of the UI possibly need a tweak for the less technical, but maybe that's a good thing in some ways to maintain accuracy of the data!
