Centra Mobile

The app is a great concept but often fails. It never remembers my user name and the quick balance function has never worked. Sometimes the fingerprint login works and sometimes it results in a locked account which is a real frustration after hours and on weekends. If it weren't for the ability to deposit a check via the app I wouldn't bother with it at all. Lately I just use a browser and get in online but it isn't scaled for a phone screen and is a problem that way.

Will not work. Every update they make to the app results in failure. The last update meant weeks of inability to use the app. Here we go again! So - one star. UPDATE: The app now works fine. But, again I was without the app for weeks. So, the app itself, when it works, is great. I have no issues with using the app. It does everything it is supposed to do very well. The issue I have is that when the app is updated it ceases to work at all for a long time.

I have a vehicle loan through them. Absolutely useless. It doesn't show my account balance. It doesn't show payoff amounts. It doesn't show interest/principal paid this year or during the length of the loan. Sure I get paper statements that provide the absolute bare minimum info they could possibly give but there is no convenience to that at all. I assume there is no to little account security with this credit union if they won't even spend the money to move away from a paper only structure.

My recommendation to the developers is to not roll out a mobile app unless you are truly ready. First, I was forced to create a different login for the mobile app than what I use for the desk top app. I have 2 other bank accounts and that was not required. The app itself is ridiculously slow and page loads can take some time. The user experience is quite frustrating. The mobile deposit functionality doesn't work. I can't get past the image error no matter what I try. Nothing wrong with image.

The app... functions, that's about the best I can say about it. The security is much more frustrating than other banking apps I have used. The interface is not very user friendly. You can check balances, transfer money between centra accounts, and deposit checks but its a lot more painful to use than all other banking apps I have used.

If you only want the current balance and last 4 or 5 transactions it will do all want. It's sluggish, can't look at earlier transactions. The security requirements seem heavy handed. Takes to long time do the steps and required way too often. It goes to a blank white screen when I choose to see more transactions. So the app is basically worthless for more than the first few transactions.

The latest update is horrible I can't log in on multiple occasions. Application says I'm using an incorrect username or ID and password that I know are correct and if I do make it past that stage it just shows a white screen with the loading symbol never shows me my accounts I even tried to uninstall and reinstall the application still the same results. Application works fine on my home computer or laptop just not able to use on my Android phone. App worked great before the updates.

Being a long time member and former employee, I would have preferred the old language rather than the new. It was savings and checking and I knew exactly what they meant. Now the new verbage is so confusing . It was simple and easy to understand. I wish we had options rather than you imposing words that generate contusion You use abbreviations, like NFC. What is NFC? . I would like to see simpler terms.

Update 8/17/2020: changed from 1 star to 5 stars. App appears to be functioning now, quick operation. Features work well. Thank you, Centra for fixing this. Previous review: Won't log in, just get spinning icon. Have reset data and reinstalled repeatably. Previous version wasn't great but at least functioned. Needs immediate attention and high priority - a lot of people affected by this especially during COVID-19 when mobile banking is preferred and safer. Get this fixed, Centra.

The first app had a few problems but this app is the worst. Won't load after going through hell with all the security protocol. Don't bother downloading because it just doesn't work! App is finally working much better. Can't find a place to apply for a credit card but still working like the app I once knew.

Not only is this new app and system a 'lemon' version of the old system and app, their customer service won't even get back with you. App doesn't remember your username or doesn't do quick balances. Really it can't do any of the perks that an app would have to offer. Been with Centra for over 5 years, but maybe it might be time to start looking for a new bank.

Everything now works brilliantly EXCEPT the Pay Bills screens! The right hand column (with amounts) starts moving to the right margin and quickly disappears, never to return. The local staff is very friendly and helpful. We are very happy about being with Centra CU...

This app is really frustrating. 1) Zelle redirects to it but there is no intuitive way to link them. 2) once you find Zelle in the use menu it doesn't link to any Zelle options but redirects to the bill pay screen. 3) about 1/2 my checks don't deposit correctly. 4) Signing up for it to use finger print to unlock is also not intuitive but at least they gave the user instructions... The reason it gets 2 stars instead of 1 is that I can still transfer money between my accounts with it, at least...

The app functions for the most part, and is easy to use. However, there are major flaws. A year ago everything work as it was supposed to. Then they started doing updates. Since then there are errors signing in with my fingerprint, it will not remember user name, every time I open it there always messages about not signing out whether you do or don't, but honestly the most frustrating thing is that it will not allow me to make deposits from my phone. Seriously needs better development.

App no longer works on Android... prior to the update, I had to log in manually (not via fingerprint, as that option didn't work); now, I can't log in at all! Please fix... this is ridiculous! I'd really like to be able to access my accounts with the app! We're considering moving all our accounts to another bank at this point.

First off this in no way has anything to do with Centra credit union. The app itself shouldn't allow transfers without consent of user. To make this easier make it finger print verification only. It's a good thing that the bank Centra Credit Union will actually work with you and normally can fix things for you.

How do you screw up something that was already working with the same exact features for the most part? I attempt to login on my phone app and its taking years to load into my account. During this time, i just went into my laptop and logged in from there easily, which looking back at my phone, it is still struggling to login. Please revert back to last version before you roll out a crappy, untested, excuse of an update. Only thing i can say i like is the biometrics feature added.

*update* I called centras customer help and went through all the steps with the representative, it turned out that the fingerprint app I was using to get into my account would not work with the account once removing that I was able to getin. I did try to reinstall the fingerprint app and once again got a white screen. l removed it and was able to get into my account again. Hope this helps someone.

I got my car financed through a dealership recently. The bank that had the best apr to offer was centra and I was super excited about 8t right? Until I went to set up payments on their app. This is not an option. It should be. Include all of your services on your app.

Terrible app! It just spins. Has to be closed down and reopened then maybe it will let you access your account. Fast balance doesn't work. I have deleted and reloaded the app on three different occasions. I would give it a minus zero.

Centra sent me a $5 check so I would install the mobile app and deposit the check. The app could not focus my Samsung Galaxy S5's camera on the back of the check. Removing and re-installing the app was difficult, but after many tries I was able to get a decent photo of the back that would allow the check to be deposited. Checking my balance is nice, and transferring funds between accounts is nice, so I guess I'll give the app one star. But mobile deposit should not be relied upon to work at all.

I was always able to use the previous version of this app with my phone, but now the screen jumps arounds so all i can do is see balances. Im so disappointed. I have tried numerous times uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. I use an android if that helps.

Shouldn't ask for sms verification if fingerprint is given. Doesn't make sense to ask for a less secure verification after providing a more secure validation. Managing credit cards is a hassle but doable. UI could use a little bit of work. Feels like a 60yr old designed it

15+ pairs of pictures taken (front and back) before the mobile app would accept a deposit. The check was typewritten, so it should have been easy for the app to scan. What's the point of claiming mobile deposit capability if it takes more time to use it than the drive through lane at the bank?

This latest update makes it nearly impossible to log in. Worked much better before After the y fixed these issues the app works fine. However, I do like the way the app used to save my user ID, it doesn't do this anymore I have to enter my info each time.

After the latest update, the app won't launch. All that happens is a prompt that says, "Unfortunately, the Centra app has stopped." It's been like this for weeks-- and no fix? If I can't perform mobile banking in the 21st century, then why bank here? I won't be much longer if the app isn't fixed.

The apps only gotten more useful and clean over the years. My only issue is the check deposit camera almost never focuses which makes the check deposit feature sometimes frustrating to use. But definitely worth it if you bank with Centra
