Generally okay, but buggy as hell. If you get a message then go to chat, it's an empty list full of circular place holders. Certain pictures you try to send in a conversation fail, then you are left with a PERMANENT place holder square at the bottom of the conversation, after each new message it goes to the bottom again so you forever have to scroll up.
An app that is completely contingent upon users displaying personal portraits that has no system for sorting, requiring you to trawl through every photo on your phone. In my case, 6000. Surely this is an easy fix? More surely still: EVERYONE has better things to do with their time than work around a poorly designed app.
I can't use my keyboard for the "about me" box. I make a few words and it freezes and my keyboard gets stuck on my screen even after I leave the app. If that didn't happen and I could make words in the box I would like the app. Also why does everyone try to copy tinder's swiping system? Can you come up with something original?
Chappy is based on Bumble, so users have to both swipe right before they can chat. But, wow, is it buggy. You get a notification that someone has swiped right, but there's no way to tell who it is. And if you both swipe right? No way to know that in the app. Really sucks. Because it has potential. Instead feels like a cheap knock-off that hasn't been thought through. Sorry, but gotta uninstall.
This is my first time using any kind of dating app so take this with a grain of salt. The app is pretty simple to use and I like how quick and easy if is to set up your profile. However it would be nice to have more options to show your interests besides the quick bio. A option to choose different shows or hobbies that you like would help make it easier to match with people with common interests/get to know people.
They redesigned this app, creating new categories, such as Friends. But how does your profile end up in one category or the other? I spent 10 minutes trying to figure it out and couldn't. Ridiculous. I sent a message as the developer requested. The first response was ridiculous, full of marketing fluff. After more responses, I still don't understand which categories my profile will show up in for others. This is not a well thought out or implemented app.
Great concept, and a mission I completely support, but the user base isn't massive and adoption seems to be poor as it's rare to match or get messages back (Hey, I know what you're thinking!! But I've had better success on Tinder.) Really hope this stamps out a market niche, as I despair at the dominance of the darker apps, and behaviour sets they encourage.
Mixed experience good app but the locations of the people recommended are usually incorrect as mainly in London but their profiles often describe them as being fairly local to me in the northwest. Confusing and ultimately time wasting for the user, which is very irritating..some room for improvement.
Awful. Every mile/KM you'll encounter around 300-400 profiles, vast majority of which are abandoned but never get deleted. App regularly crashes on me during swiping, or the swipe screen just goes blank and no profiles load. Hours later, this randomly fixes itself. I often match with profiles only to find the user was "last active a month ago". Overall a waste of your time. Just use Tinder instead, you'll get far-more matches and its users are more-active
photos won't load! ever since the new update photos won't load on the app. I have tried deletinf and re-installing, however the app still won't work. I recommend that you don't waste your time on the app. It's new and the developers don't know what they're doing. The app has been like this for a month now and it's a shame because I was looking for something less seedy than what's in the current market for gay dating apps.
love the app and have generally had a great experience using it - since the latest update though I've not been able to get past the loading screen? other reviewers seem to having a similar issue. the only way of solving this seems to be by restarting my phone each time I want to use the app. because of this I'm also not getting notifications.
I've tried a few of these apps and so far this is the best. I've gotten matches, chatted with and even met some people, and I haven't been bombarded with paywalls and ads. Yes there are premium features, but unlike most other dating apps it's not forced on you.
Great... But with a few hiccups.. because sometimes, if you don't tap the notification telling you about a connection, you can't see the person you connected with in your list of connections. It's weird.
Havent even used the app (was already having second thoughts after reading reviews)...wasnt able to use it...i got "incorrect email address" error, and I sent an email to support and they asked me why I thought I was blocked and to give my email address. Thought the guy who started this was from MIC not TOWIE!! Would not recommend!
Nothing against the guys, but this app-- just as an app functions TERRIBLY! It lags, phantoms, gives ad notifications but doesn't on actual app notifications.... terrible in general. just take a subway ride, you'll meet people easier or at least get better wifi connectivity.
adding some balance to the reviews here. no, the app isn't perfect, but the UI actually is pretty simple and intuitive, and in just a few days I've matched with interesting people. I'm excited to see where it goes next! :)
Now with a the one photo bug removed and further photos available. Could use a who viewed feature and private photo album. But great support and are quick to fix bugs. Lacks feature on update version no and what's been fixed in what's new information
I think the design and feel of this app are awesome. It could use some marketing to more diverse demographics. It might just be my area, but I feel sorta like an oddball as not either a software engineer, financial analyst, barista, or fashion designer. If it had the diversity of Grindr but maintained it's cleanliness and personality oriented design, It be a 5 star app for sure.
I don't really feel one way or the other about the rebranding though certainly understand why people don't like it. My problem is moreso with slow loading times. It would be nice to be able to see a guys face instead an eternal loading screen
...wont update so now i cant open app, tried deleting and reinstalled but now stuck on opening page......... tried to respond to the email address you give but my message to you bounced back as no such email address........ useless support for a useless app. Im going to delete. I would recommend everyone avoid this app.
Edit: After a couple of updates, the app is a lot less buggy, and now I can use it I have decided to change my review. Chappy gives a different approach to networking with other guys, and I like the casual, not so pushy UI and the chats I've had with guys have been pleasant as a result. It stands out from other apps by not trying to shove dating at first sight down your throat, so I enjoy it given it doesn't crash on me mid conversation and not allow me to get in.
Swiping is a bit clunky and annoying. Maybe program the app so the finger doesn't have to go all the way across the screen for a response? Writing from OnePlus 3T on latest software.
App is unusable. Says to update app, that the new chappy cant be accessed it by it. There is no update in app store. Uninstalled and reinstall. Same issue. Total fail.
This App is good for matching with serious guys that are looking for a relationship especially in london it's more straight forward as to what your seeking while your using the app.The only negative is that you aren't able to see in advance who has matched with so your able to weigh up your options.
It's alright. same principle to Tinder, you swipe people. What's annoying is that you will get the same people every other day. What's the point in that? Why won't the app remember and stop repeating the same chaps? Like just say there is no one, don't just start the same deck again. After a bit it just gets boring.
This app on numerous occasions has told me that my pictures aren't me which I really do not know how to take. This issue needs to be resolved immediately. I provided feedback in the app and no response from chappy at all. Stick to Tindr or Hinge if you know what's good for you.
I used to find the app quite good, but I have to be honest, I think the old branding was a lot better with the Mr right and Mr right now. I mean, how do you even determine what is sexy and what is cute? But putting that aside, the categories don't seem to work properly; I have been changing from #Cute to #Sexy and the app keeps showing me #CuteandSexy most of the time
Since tge recent update i thought theres a lot of good improvements made to the app thrn it crashed do i had to reindtall the app. I thought I'd be able to log straight back in but no it was asking me to add photos and basically create a new profile. I didnt want to do that as I thought I'd end up with two profiles, do I've now deleted the app
Feature wise it is basically a typical dating app clone. As a professional UI/UX designer, stuff like that stands out. Notifications don't really work. I never get chat notifications. Kinda kills the experience and purpose.
It's great that the makers of the app value privacy and will notify you is someone takea screenshots of your profile, but unlike other apps, it doesnt allow you to preview an image before you send it and you can't unsend images. This makes for a bad combination where you can accidentally tap an image whike scrolling through your album and send something you weren't intending on sending and you have no way of taking it back.
