I am pleased with this app so far, and it's nice to know that ChargePoint has a fairly nice network of chargers in the San Antonio area and places I travel. This app seems well-designed, but others point out that the app automatically refills the balance monthly without notice. I haven't experienced that yet, but I would be concerned if that did happen. Currently, Android Auto causes my phone to heat up while drivingmy Mustang Mach-E, but I haven't narrowed it down to this app yet.
The payment options are terrible. You automatically reload $10 when your balance drops below $5 for the first month, then it will automatically reload your average monthly cost, which for me was $60. No email or notification that $60 would be added, just took it straight from my account. There is no way to manually load your balance or to change how much is added, it is all automatic. This system of payment is not user friendly and needs an update. Would be 5 stars if not for this major problem
Very nicely designed app for EV charging. The map functionality (uses Google Maps) is responsive and accurate. I'm extremely impressed at how well it works with the Charge Point Home Flex charger - the process of connecting to my phone and WiFi network was quick and flawless. My 50A outlet was ready; it took less than 20 minutes for unboxing, mounting, setting up with the app, and charging for the first time.
Installed app, entered credit card, turned on NFC, it beeps when the phone is on the reader. But, nothing else happens. Cable won't release. Display is so dim it can't be read in sunlight. Type is so small it can't be read anyway. Lots of errors in the app that tell me to contact them. "Them"?There is no phone number, no "contact us" option. Useless garbage. I would give it a zero if I could.
Never shows available stations even though there is one at the condo I live it . The system is useless to find charging ports thru the app . If it weren't that I need to use it at my condo to charge, I wouldn't bother downloading the app . I've even used all the filters and activated them all to ensure I can find a changer ...and still nothing shows up on The map
In my opinion, this is a huge scam. ChargePoint charges $10 to your credit card without authorization the first time you use a paid station and it also adds $10 as soon as the balance falls below $5. This is basically like giving ChargePoint an interest-free loan. No, thank you. If you want to be up-front about things, you have to let me load my own balance. Anything else is a trick.
This app does the job. I love the NFC integration to tap and pay. If I could get one feature request, I would ask for advance notices on charging fees. The default notification rarely gives me enough time to get to my car to unplug it.
For home use, there are several issues and missing items. I can't link the app to Google home, there is no notification when the charge stop (reach certain percentage), the time calculation always include the idle (no charging) time, there is few occassion it skip charging if both car and chargepoint are scheduled (end up no charging overnight), it's not smart enough to adjust with specific Time Of Use of the electricity company (e.g. can't detect super off peak 10am-2pm in march and april).
Good - Displays charging events and shows rate/total energy provided along with cost estimates. App provides a list of utilities and related plans for cost estimates. The website also provides some information - so you are not 100% stuck using a mobile app. They are continuing to update the mobile app - app seems stable. The GUI is intuitive IMO - except for my complaint below. Bad - You can add multiple vehicles to your account - BUT I can't find anyway to simply attach a vehicle to charge event. The energy costs calculated from selected rate plan seem higher then actual (or what I think current PGE rates are). Driving me nuts - you should be able to quickly tag which car is charging !! It would be bonus points if the app asked or could figure out which vehicle. (we have one that charges at 7.6 the other at 3.4) Minus 1 star for this
The charge port would not charge my car. Very unreliable. Have to call support at almost every charge station. Support reps are not well trained. I use only when there's no other possible option.
The scheduling function has constantly struggled to work and Chargepoint has never responded to my requests for assistance. I think maybe it's working now but I don't trust it because of all the times it has changed when it wasn't supposed to
i just got charged $20 to reload my card instead of the regular $10 when you drop below $5, no previous notification, no confirmation. my car fills up on $2.50 of electricity, i have to fully charge my car 10 times to spend the money that's in my account rn. that might take months. how dare you take that out of my bank account without my permission, i'm basically loaning your company money without charging interest 😒
Great app! Everything worked seemlessly. The interface is intuitive. The only other feature I would like to is to add is data for gas purchase and miles driven. Then any associated electric charging cost could be applied for cost per mile data point (with 3 month trailing average)
I have a 50 amp Chargepoint Home Flex charger. The charger works great on my "new to me" 2020 Chevy Bolt Premier and I give it 5 stars for charging, but this is about the app. For home use it is wonky at best. It is very inaccurate and it is very difficult to find the screen you had at one time that had the info you want. While charging, when I tap on the -C icon the first screen it takes me to is to locate a charger near me, which is definitely not what I would be looking for when my EV is hooked up at home. When I tap 2nd icon from the left it says "Hmmm... There are no matching stations in this area." When I hit the back button then hit the 2nd icon on the left again, sometimes it will take me to the "Charging Details" screen that shows how long it's been charging, how many kWh have been added, how much it cost me so far, how many miles the charger has added and how long it's been charging. This needs to be fixed for easier access to the "Charging Details" screen.
Freezes at title screen after first launch. I can log in and use the app once. Every time afterwards, the app will freeze at the title screen. The only way around it is to wipe the app data and log in again. -Pixel 4a 5G
Hopeless app. Couldn't satisfy it with no matter how many trys of making a password. Full description of password reqirements up front would have been great. Not drip fed requirements and corrections. Then said character not accepted, just before I gave up and charged the car somewhere else. Goodbye.
Takes me a while to figure out new apps,but now I use it easily. However, the station had issues and now I've lost the functions that tell me if a charger is available . I can still connect but no longer have a notification about my charging status.
App Updated late April. Now I can no longer change the ampere rating of my home charger in order to be able to manage how quickly my car charges and the demand on my electric service. I understand that it is important to limit the max ampere rating but at times I need to be able to select a lower rating, for example when I need to charge during peak times or when other appliances are being used.
App is very "public charger" centric and not very useful for the home charger we just installed. I cannot enter our 2022 vehicle because they do not list our car model & year. I tried to submit some info the website errored out 3 times. I did successfully schedule the charger, but even then the site autofilled bad info for my utility company. So far, the site is adequate, but bug ridden or way behind on the background data to provide a useful report from the charger usage. Updates to follow..?
Great app for charging your car! It even looks you turn off the charging remotely so you don't have to pay extra. The only issue is that the map is not always accurate.
Trying to set up a Chargepoint home flex. Can't connect to device. Bought a wifi range extender. Still can't connect. Customer service couldn't do anything. Escalated. Meanwhile car is charging at 2miles per kwh. I bought this because the scheduling capability. Worthless.
There is no preliminary info on how the app works. It should let you know the closest charging stations. It just says move to find one and then when I did, I kept getting kicked to the home screen. Could be a bit more user friendly. I didn't know how long my car would take to charge. It takes a bit more time than at home.
App is very unreliable. Sometimes can't find an internet connection (despite all my other apps working), sometimes can't recognize one of its own charging stations as operating. Very inconvenient.
You're supposed to be able to adjust the amps that the Chargepoint Home Flex charger outputs, but I can no longer find that setting in the app. I've called Support twice, and they have been useless. They supposedly escalated the issue to a supervisor, but I've not received the return call that they promised. If you'd like to be able to adjust your charging amps, perhaps in order to better match charging to your solar output, then I'd suggest buying a different product.
