Chargie - the only hardware battery life saver

Charging your phone every night to 100% and keeping the battery like this for 8 hours is one of the main culprits behind early battery failure. We're here to change that.

Chargie is a hardware phone charge limiter.
Here's how it works:

1. Get your Chargie USB device from https://chargie.org.
2. Insert the device into your regular charger and the phone cable into Chargie.
3. Install the app on your phone.
4. Set the charge percentage you need for the next day
5. Go to sleep.

Chargie takes control of the power flow following an algorithm that decreases battery temperature and voltage related stress, throughout the 8 hours of nighttime charging.

This will dramatically increase battery and phone lifespan because of the way lithium ion chemistry works.

With Chargie, your phone not only lasts for more years, but has also a much lower carbon footprint. Present-day smartphones are still a good fit even after three years, if their performance is not throttled by the OS because of poor battery health.

Moreover, you'll be able to resell your old phone for more when you decide to change it, because it will be Chargie Certified, and this will be a guarantee of the protection of its battery.

We have DHL shipping available, so you can get your Chargie tomorrow if you live in NY or anywhere in the EU. If not, shipping takes 3 days at most, in any part of the world, so you can be up and running in no time.

The app and the device work fine together. App does not slow phone or use much power. I run on 2 devices and normally charge to 45% - I carry a recharge pack. Battery health has not declined at all in the months I have been using it so I'm confident that the app works to prolong battery life expectancy. The device connects almost every time and if it doesn't it's a simple matter to either disconnect in the app or switch off power for a few seconds. Very impressed and it fills a gap in the tech.

I bought a charger A and C and am really digging both! When they work they're excellent. However I often have to manually reconnect through the app or plug and unplug the charging connector. Top up scheduler is a bit tricky to guess when to start, but I know the creator is working on an automatic process. Unfortunately charging doesn't work with the 2nd gen Pixel wireless stand. UI is super easy to understand at least. Overall a great idea held back by some software limitations and polish.

Works reliably. My feedback is that the 'top up scheduler' time setting will reset anytime I press 'top up now' to whatever time it was when I pressed it. It should save the time until I change it. Also, there should be shortcuts at the top of the screen for 'top up now' which uses the top up % value, and 'full charge' - as these are common actions. Thanks for a great device and app.

The device did not work on my Pixel 6. It cycled through it's start-up phase repeatedly without ever successfully connecting to the device and charging my phone. This may be a cable issue at my end. I have ordered new adapters and I will try to use the device and the app once more. EDIT: I have now resolved the cable issue. The device continues to cylce through the start-up phase without successfully connecting to the device.

I'm disappointed that it doesn't work with a PD charger because this is a Pixel house and that's all we have. Constant disconnects, very slow charging, software unreliable. I'll return it if they accept the item back. It's a great idea so I'll give it 3 stars for effort. Fix the hardware and software and I'll repurchase it.

The Chargie does work. Settings like LED operating in stealth mode are not consistent. Half the times the LEDs are on, half the time they're off. Could be more consistent there with the settings. I can never get more than 8 Watts of charging no matter what charger or phone I use. I purchased two Chargie Cs but one had an issue with the white/red case that prevented the USB C connector from fully engaging. Turns out it was because the 2 halves of the case were held together by the white label sticker. The casing was broken. Is it worth the $65 for 2 with one broken case? If you tend to keep your device for 1 or 2 years then it's probably not worth it. It did take a while for them to ship the devices and you are charged immediately upon order.

Great time saving device for extending battery life. Much better than fidgeting with software-based programs. My only complaint is that they don't stand behind their warranty. I had one fail and it wasn't replaced. I ended up getting an Upsie warranty for the next two replacements.

Great idea! Still working out the bugs. The idea is good, shut off the power when the power level reaches a certain point, like 85% full. This saves battery life. But there are two problems for me. 1. This app causes my bluetoorh to periododically turn off. No connection to my watch or BT headset. 2. Chargie does start up when the phone starts up, but by the time I go to use it, the chargie and software cannot connect.

Like the product concept, the 3D printed case is a nice touch. Been using for a few weeks. Have had occasional issues with the app stopping after charging to the set limit, resulting in 100% charge. This was with doing everything in the OS to stop it being unloaded. The recent updates seem to have fixed this so happy now. Thanks for producing an innovative product (that really ought to be in the OS).

It happened that Chargie became available right when I bought a new phone, so I was intrigued by having a tool to protect my phone's battery. As this is a dual software+hardware tool it is obvious it does it job, unlike the many useless apps. For me it seems to work just fine and I don't see any battery degradation so far. I'm using it at 80% setting . It is still early, so I'll report back. One thing I like is how lightweight and easy to use this app is, getting straight to the point.

This is an excellent app and device, I haven't had any problems that weren't of my own doing, and Support has been very helpful! I bought a second set of chargies for my second phone and had contact Chargie after the order was placed to ask for different colors and it was so easy! I've had to replace batteries in phones before, and have been looking for a way to limit battery stress for years, and this is, maybe not exactly what I want, but it's as close as I can get, and worth every battery saved!

The new Topup scheduler works great and the 1.30.08 release is very stable. People that state the app uses battery power. I dont see it. If it bothers you there is a setting to force exit so that you have to manually restart the app. Highly recommended! Especially now with the topup scheduler! You can set the phone to stay at any lower % over night and an hour before you need the phone set it to charge up to 100% or any level you want. You may need more time for 100% if set too low.

I really like this charger! I downloaded it before the hardware arrived and I was a little concerned I would have to play with the settings a lot to get it to work. But it worked right away on the first try. The only thing I had to change was the allowed charge drop because it was draining 3% and charging 3% like two or three times a night. I bumped it up to 8% now it charges when I first go to bed, shuts off and then replenishes it. It drains the battery a little, but it needs it to work.

Doesn't always connect to Chargie. Mostly charges to 100 percent. Doesn't work well with Samsung wireless charger. I am feeling this was a waste of money. - that is what I was experiencing. After looking at other feedback, I checked out more of the settings and changing wireless charging (and others) has resolved my issues. When I first got the Chargies (i bought two of them), they just worked fine. and then they started to have problems with disconnecting, not charging etc. I have no idea what changed but I just assumed they were failing. If you do have problems, check some of the feedback here.

It works great but it can be a little finicky with iOS where you have to plug in and out to get the charge to work. Overall I'm very happy with the device because iPhone and Android batteries aren't cheap and this will give me peace of mind. Can you clean up the Android interface? There's type covering each other and it doesn't have a dark mode. The iOS one is great.

An excellent tool that shouldn't be necessary. For anyone wanting to extend the life of their battery without rooting their phone, this is a great solution. (Even if a native Android software solution would be better) The app has pretty much every feature I had hoped for and is surprisingly stable and reliable for a beta product. The hardware could benefit from a smaller size, more connector options (like usb c on both ends) and the ability to turn off the LEDs, but it is well built overall.

Very busy - but suddenly occurred to me I must express how pleased I am. I bought 8 of these devices (some for purposes they're not targeted at). I use 2 for my S10+ for wireless charging - one next to the bed and one in my main work area at home. The App isn't quite mature yet but it does work. For using two devices like this I manually connect to each one (one at night, one during the day). Would be great if one could make groups for a particular phone that auto switch. I have mine set to 80% with a 10% hysteresis (so down to 70% before charging up to 80%). Occasionally it seems to ignore than 10% difference - so not perfect but most of the time fine. My partner has one set up for night time on her S10 - works fine. I did set our phones to not optimise the Apps for power saving etc. of course. I also tried using one on my old Note 4 that I just as an Android device on WiFi now, and while it seemed to work when I looked at it, I did sometimes find it in the morning at 100% so I'm not sure why, but it doesn't always seem to maintain that connection. The app isn't quite there cosmetically yet - e.g. long names for devices don't automatically scale well. And it would be nice if there was a cloud element that wouldn't stop the app working if it didn't exist, but optionally could save/register device names so that you could the same Chargie simply and easily identify it for use with multiple phones etc. But over-all, for our expensive phones with expensive-to-replace batteries it works for me and my partner and I'm very pleased. If you have only one device it's set and forget, and if you're an anxious person like me who thinks about the threat posed by the 30+ lipo batteries I have in the house (I'm a techie lol) then the Chargie represents a slight alleviation of some of that anxiety in a convenient way.

Ste. M. Oct 4, 2020

I'm all for making tech maintain its performance for longer. Limiting the battery charge on sealed smartphones should always have been an option, but we can guess why the manufacturers wouldn't be keen on enabling that! Yes, the batteries in these phones can still be changed, but it's far more hassle compared to the old days of just unclipping the back and replacing them in seconds! By many accounts, avoiding charging lithium batteries to the top every day, (or avoiding them dropping to just a few percent), significantly extends their life. Initially I found the app a little temperamental, but the latest versions have worked just fine. Congratulations to the team at Lightly Electronics for developing such a worthwhile device and app.

Great little device, so for the most part works excellent, little learning curve overtime to learn how your device works with it. Love it, the best alternative aside from rooting a device to have similar results. If you have any issues contact them, they are very responsive and help getting any issues with the app or device get fixed. Bad reviews without details and justified statements don't help anyone, contacting them helps you and everyone get a better experience.

Works perfectly! Smart idea and keeps battery con fully charging at night. Only gripe is the Chargie notification showing all the time, you can turn it off but it'd be better if it appeared and disappeared as needed. It took a while to find this device (I think I followed a link in a forum) so I think it could be marketed better as it's a really useful device.

The latest version - 1.19.28 - doesn't work as well as earlier versions for me. I keep getting the message saying that the chargie is detected but is not "plugged," whatever that means. It is still not clear how much extra battery life you will get if you use this device consistently and never charge your phone above the 80% level. Now using Version 1.20.06 - updated on 3 April 2020 - but still occasionally disconnects and allows my Samsung Galaxy S7 to charge up to 100%.

When it works it's great, but my Pixel XL does not autoconnect to the Bluetooth most of the time when I plug my phone in and then my phone ends up charging to 100% because it can't tell the Chargie unit to turn off. Not sure why it doesn't connect until I open the app. Opening the app every night when I plug in will become cumbersome. Update 11/9/19: had to restart my phone after the update for the Bluetooth device to connect. Seems to be working properly now. If no hiccups, will adjust to 5 *

I like the product, but it doesn't do what I thought it does. I thought you can still transfer data after the charging is stopped with the limit. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I tried using it with Android auto, but as soon as the charge stops, so does the data transfer between my car and phone. Pretty much the reason why I wanted to get the product, but apparently it didn't work as I hoped. Changed rating based on respond.

I had high hopes for this hardware and app, but it simply just isn't working. It's very picky which chargers it works with, and honestly the app isn't working correctly. I set it to 90% charge with a 10% variance, and i wake up to a phone with 60% charge, it's not charging as it is supposed to. Yes i set the app to not sleep in Android setup. I should have bought one instead of three before vetting the product.

Car. C. Aug 16, 2020

Complete Junk. I wanted to like this product but after several days of ownership, I've come to the conclusion that this thing just doesn't work. I have a Samsung Note10+ and have encountered numerous issues with the device: 1. The app does not connect to the Chargie device via bluetooth. Hence the phone can't charge. 2. If I do get it to charge, the app completely ignores the 80% charge threshold that I set and continues to charge.

Pao. L. Aug 21, 2020

At the end I stopped using it because I noticed that the benefit of controlling the charge is lost by the fact that the app is drawing so much power that the phone needs to be charged more frequently so probably no benefit for the battery life. The setup is also now very complicated with dozen of options that are really difficult to manage. I give 2 stars because the support is very good but unfortunately the end result is not what I was expecting.

I ordered the chargie (hardware) itself around half a year ago and tried to keep my phone between 30-70% most of the time by using the app. Had a few starting problems personally because the app didn't work and my phone charged to 100%. I then figured out how to keep the app from shutting down due to inactivity and then it worked just fine. Since then my battery capacity still suffices for day while keeping in between 30-70%. Definitely recommend.

Cla. K. Mar 24, 2020

App works great and has awesome levels of functionality and the whole thing works as intended but I'd like some deeper explanations of what exactly some of the options do, and reaching out to the developer tends to be a mixed bag - sometimes I get a response sometimes I don't. Still happy with the product and would recommend to anyone.

So disappointed with my customer experience thus far. So hopeful, but it's is half baked. App isn't "intuitive" as I had to read the instructions. Didn't work on my Samsung the first go, woke up to 100% charge. What is this "Bluetooth power" slider?? Instructions AND blog don't mention. Again not intuitive. I paid $35 plus shipping for a 3D printed "founder edition". That wasn't mentioned and I was misled by the pics you used! (Now it's half priced...gah!). I could go on... Its not there yet.
