I find this app very useful for the average person to use, but the only thing I can say would make this app better is to add a widget and nfc tap function. It would be great if you could have your tickets on the main screen, and be able to pull up the ticket(s) and tap them just like a charm card. It saves the bus driver time from looking at multiple people's phones, also makes getting on bus more efficient during rush hour
Wonderfully easy to navigate & use. After you buy your first tickets, each subsequent time you open the app, it opens to the "Buy Tickets" page and the "Buy Again" feature, which is almost always why you you need to go there in the first place. Very handy. Also very easy to check your account settings and history.
This app is absolutely fantastic. Kudos to the developers who thought of every detail needed for this app. Fingerprint authentication, easy to use interface, tickets are saved offline. Just to name a few. I use this 3 times a week commuting from Baltimore to DC and love it. Save time and paper!
I can't get the app to work on my Android. It refuses. Yes, I've turned it off and back on. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Every time I try to open it, it says there's no network connection. I've tried it on multiple wifi connections. No luck. Super unfortunate. My friends can use it, and they like it. No IT support, here, though.
The Charm app is very easy to use to add tickets and to complete on the spot transactions plus allows me to save my daily trips so I can just.hit but this again. The MOST user friendly of all the smart trip, Amtrak, etc commuter apps!
I would've rated a 5 star. 1) You make an account but if your phone dies and you have an active pass you can't log in on a different phone. 2) Sometimes even if your phone isn't in battery saver mode, the buses don't move and you can change the background, but the bus driver still denies you entry.
I love this app but, recently it began to give me trouble. it takes too long to open then, when it does it forces close and says try again. Its really an inconvience an embarrassing. Metro drivers think Im playing games. I brought a 7 day pass so i could get to work through out the week. And I only use the pass 1 day so far, its going on thursday and the app still isnt available. im updating it now to see if that will help. please fix this problem. currently trying to re install its not working
When I first tried downloading it and adding money I kept getting an error but it seems to be working fine now. So far I like the app and it's very convenient and useful. The only issue I had was the commuter bus driver telling that it was unacceptable after I showed him my phone. I ended up having to show the app again for him to say yes you're right you're right. I do have a suggestion and a concern. I think the time should be extended on the app because there are times during the holiday when the bus full. What happens if I've hit use ticket and as the bus is arriving and I can't get on because the bus is now full? Can I retrack my ticket?
The app hadn't* worked for 2 years. Kept saying it was unable to connect. Turns out it was a problem on my end all along. If you're not using automatic date and time, it won't connect. If that doesn't fix it then you're SOL
Looks like a great idea... I've been waiting for something like this... I had been hoping for a long time that MARC riders could use a Baltimore CharmPass or a DC MetroCard for a MARC fares... This idea is even better. However, based on reviews that I am reading, I am a bit nervous about using the app at this point... I think that I will test by just purchasing one ticket at a time... Do not want to lose a lot of money due to glitches. Also appears that no senior or handicapped fares available
I would avoid using for MARC. Accidentally purchased weekly ticket for following week, so app wouldn't let me activate. That's fine. Purchased a physical ticket in the meantime. The following week, during the valid, digital ticket period, the app said that the digital ticket had already been used. Um- no. Contacted the developer, but they have no intention of refunding the $37.
The app works well and is convenient. It would help if colors were different for different modes of transportation. Very easy to click on bus ticket when you mean to use train ticket and then you have wasted one!
So it's really an awesome app, especially in tandem with Transit App. However it crashed today and had to pay for 2 fares by cash, which is annoying when you spend $72 on a monthly pass. Deleting and redownloading the app solves the issue but I had to wait til I had wifi access. Larry Hogan send me $3.60 please.
Extremely convenient way to purchase fare for those of us who are cashless. Great for avoiding penalty and embarrassment... Sadly, the same rules apply as a physical ticket if not in physical possession. There is no alternate lookup for e.g. phone number, ID etc. Conductors aren't trained to offer technical support.
This app is much better than buying a paper ticket from a machine. Best thing is that when you are running late you can get on the train platform and buy the ticket as the train approaches the station. Also, 31 day pass is better than a monthly, especially in February, buy also when taking vacation, etc.
This is app seems like a good idea. When i go to use this app, my bank card won't save, the app doesn't allow my card to be charged. Also this app constantly crashes. I like the idea, but the glitches need to be fixed.
I do like the app but there is one HUGE flaw with it. If you need to for any reason get a new phone, you cannot transfer any activated passes to new phone. They apparently must be inactive for you to transfer them. Why didn't any of the press releases mention this?
It's a pretty easy to use app and the best part is just purchasing tickets on your phone, instead of waiting in line or pre purchasing the tickets mailed to your house. It makes commuting a lot easier.
Easy to use for individual tickets. Convenient for when I'm running late for the train and can't stop to buy tickets at a kiosk or window. I have only used it for individual tickets. Never purchased a pass, but it looks easy to do if I needed to.
Makes everything easy and convenient. I like that the monthly pass goes by number of days and not an actual month. If I buy it on the 26th, it's good for 31 days as opposed to the month of September. Saves me money!
App will not allow user to complete transaction. Checkout button is completely unresponsive. Best advice gleaned from Customer Service was "uninstall/reinstall", which did absolutely nothing. Great job, MTA. Great. Job.
I reallocated my SmartBenefits allowance to MTA mobile ticketing but I keep getting an error message when I try to add my SmartBenefits/SmartTrip card to my CharmPass app. Contacted customer service and they said they are aware of the issue and working on it but they don't know when it will be fixed.
It's mostly very convenient. Buying tickets can be a little awkward, as there's no simple way to get round trip tickets without having to select each individually. Everything else is great.
The transit authority officers need more training on the app. I was on the light rail and a transit officer checking tickets really didn't know what to look for. They could see that the ticket was valid until the 15th of November but ask me when it started. It was a 31-day pass. So maybe the app can show when the pass started or train the officers a little more in the use of the app.
This app doesn't give you an option to purchase Monthly tickets but month rather it says 31 day passes. It screwed me because I didn't realize the 31 days start from when you purchase the ticket rather then starting at the start of the month. So now I am stuck the last 2 days of this month without my monthly pass.
The app works great for buying tickets. And activating tickets for the proof of purchase is very intuitive. But there's no description of the different transportation options (you can choose from 3). And there's no schedule for the bus, which would make sense and be helpful.
