This app was the best of it's time. But the developers of the Android version have hard forked the code and are no longer maintaining the upstream version. Switch to another app immediately.
I had never used it, but tried to login on Samsung Galaxy S5 and it never got past the password entry.
On android 7 it keeps saying orbot isn't running when it clearly is. Tried selecting chatsecure to run through orbot VPN mode and still same error. Searched Google and don't see any solutions as well.
In group chat we can not share file, voice, pic and no thing it is some line sms env. Am I wronge? Or sending pics, files... are just for 2way chat and not group chats.
What is the password Always keep asking of password but don't know what to enter please need help
Why the hell my account keeps getting disconnected whenever I leave the app? It's running in background so the account should also be logged in. Plz give a solution on this.
Always says TOR is not running when it clearly always is. Impossible to connect that way.
It used to interfere with regular Hangouts when using encryption, but now it works. Edit: found a problem where images are sent encrypted in an unencrypted Google chat. No work around.
Great app but unfortunately the developer has announced that this app is discontinued. (I really wish they would reconsider!) I will keep using it until it stops working.

I'm unable to register. It says (the tor service is not running). And my orbot is on

When app developer/grp will improve & Respect User's Privacy-Rights & apply betr alt, then we wil Updt this Review. There r other, same type of app, which r using less system "Permissions", for similar functionalities. Posted this msg when we used v14.3 & earlier ver.

Somehow not working with my account
Google pixel. Can't login any account, cant create any account. Orbot spears not to be running.
How to use whatsapp chat in this app. Can u give me a suggestion.?
Update---It works but... I still would like it to work 100% I can use it now but it works sort of depending on who I'm chatting with. My device to a Galaxy works only one way. I can send and they can see both sides of the conversation I can only see what I typed. Sure it's device based only it just so happens I'd like to chat with a friend with one. Works totally fine droid RAZR to nexus 7 or other droids. Here's still hoping for a total solution. Also it still crashes on close 50%
if you have no idea what xmpp or otr is than you'll need to do some research before you can use this with any ease. it's just not that user friendly if your new to encryption & tor related technologies.
I'm not sure how to setup an account, I don't know what xmpp or jabber or any of that is, I like the idea of being able to communicate privately and securely but there is NO tutorials, instructions or anything that I can find online. I don't know what any of the settings or features do. You download the app and that's it, you're on your own. I just need a step by step tutorial on how to use it. I'm not dumb, just new to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Not able to use it's main function, doesn't connect to orbot and it's working, I checked.
It's good,but looks too average. Make it look like Signal or Telegram ( Get rid of these awful blurred buttons,or make them look better )
This way I could control my own public and private key. App is working fine
the setting for the custom port is not working,the issue tracker seems to get ignored. app is not useful this way
Doesn't allow blocking of messages from unknown contacts - esp. Russian spam, this is getting worse. Doesn't download contacts for added account. No history. When I hit shut down and lock, it still remains open no matter how many times I exit the program. The notification bar icon will continue to persist.
Whenever I check the "connect with tor" it says orbot isn't running. Clicking OK to start orbot flashed orbot on screen then back to chat secure. Registering or signing in still don't work. Restarting orbot resolved the issue.
Works great but the key sync feature isn't working.
Using Android OS version 6.0 on a Samsung S5 your program does not connect to orbit at all and keep saying it wants to use Orbot despite the fact it is already running. You guys really need to fix this ASAP.
Hello for the past week i have been trying to get chatsecure to with with Orbot just keeps saying sighing in but never logges in. I turn orbot off and i can sign in please help.
I don't know how it checks if orbot is running, but it doesn't work on Android 7. Every attempt to sign in with 'use orbot' checked is met with a message saying that orbot isn't running. It then attempts to start orbot, and loops back to the sign in button. Everything else works as expected, though.
