What is root and why won't CheatDroid work without it?Basically, root access provides your Android smartphone with admin privileges (including editing system files like CheatDroid does). Therefore, you need a rooted phone for CheatDroid.
For some apps I do not find a lot of Shared Preferences to edit, why?Since no developer is forced to USE Shared Preferences, those apps might use another way to store their settings. CheatDroid does not work everywhere.
How do I get my phone rooted?Check out the internet, you will definitely find enough material. For instance, you could google "Rooting [your phone name+model]". Also, you might want to try out one of these links:

Will only really work on a rooted phone. It works great on my rooted S7 sm-930v. Does exactly what it advertises in a very user friendly manner. The only thing I'd like to see added is a converter for things like going from decimal to hex and what not.
So stupid. It said it couldn't work unless I downloaded oneclickroot but when I did it STILL wouldn't work 😬
Feeling quite sorry for the developer. Don't get fooled by the rating. Half of them doesn't even understand the concept of rooting.

I do have root access on my device but every time I want to open an app Cheat Droid force closes itself and a new window pops up saying Unfortunately Cheat Droid has stopped and it has 3 options, wait, report, ok. It's an okay app I suppose. Just wish it wouldn't force close all the time

Very useful, does what it says on the tin. Let's you edit unserialized xml files which alot games use to store data. No super fancy doo-dads weighing the app down. Great product

Stupid pile of 💩 ,no matter what root or file editor I download it says there is no root editor,flx you need to improve root editor compatibly.
Very useful app. The only thing I'm having problems with are the ads, I get one every time I go to game and back to see if everything worked out. Other than that it's really good. Also this app should be at least 4.5 rating but half the people rating this don't know about rooting.
