Checkbook - Account Tracker

I have used this app for a few years and have had no complaints. It is simple and easy to use. If I had a "wish" for this app, it would be a more detailed reconciliation. However, I have recently been having issues with the performance. The app gets stuck sometimes on opening and will have to close and reopen, sometimes more than once. The app will freeze occasionally in the middle of entering a transaction.

Have recently been having with the app. When opening, it cycles between portrait and landscape mode repeatedly and then crashes. Please fix the bug and push an update. Have used this app for about 3 years and have never had an issue before. Once the bug is fixed I would be happy to update my review.

I love the app. Have been using it for a while now. What I don't like is if I try to add something that is a week out it will not add it. I get paid bi-weekly so it helps me budget. If I add the same entry for today, for example, I can add it with no problem. But if I go back to change the date it erases the entry. It's really frustrating!!!!

The recurring payments option does not work the way I would assume. For example, if I delete a recurring payment on my register, it deletes the recurring payment altogether (not desirable). Also, I don't see way to easily add future recurring payments to the register. For example, I'd like to "pay" my bills for the next 2 weeks in the register, so I can forecast my running balance. So unless I'm doing it wrong, the recurring payment section is close to useless. If the recurring payment was adjusted, this app would fit all my needs. I am a premium user.

I used this app for over 2 years with no problem. Easy and straightforward account balancing. However, the rescent update has caused crashes very frequently and makes it frustrating to use. Also, I know it's a free app and ads will happen but the ads will pop up in the middle of my balancing process with full sound. It is very difficult to continue using this app for these reasons. Sadly time to move on.

The old version of this app was incredibly simple & functional. Easily a 5 star app. With the occasional ad popping up, I've used it for years! Since the last update, it's been a complete nightmare. The UI, although it looks sleek, has unique quirks. But the ads now have literally broken this app. There's now an ad after every button press, many of which wont even give you the option to close, at all! You're just stuck, even after closing & restarting the app. I miss my old Checkbook :(

This was the best checkbook app out there. I have used it for years. The update that happened made it unusable. The app crashes everytime I use it and shows all my accounts in the negative by thousands of dollars. I import the dropbox backup and it makes it correct but the next time I open it goes back to the wrong balances. You have to see all your transactions unless you choose to hide cleared transactions everytime. It doesn't save your preferences. I am actively looking for a new app.

I don't normally write reviews because I know they get last in the mix but I have to express how frustrated I am with this latest update. I love this app!! I've been using it for years and it has helped me stay in check with my expenses. Unfortunately, the annoying ads that are forced for me to watch every single time I enter in a transaction is way to much. Whats more frustrating is that i can't click out of it until the short clips are done. "Updated Post" pro version is much better!!

The updated app looks pretty slick, but the old version functioned much more efficiently. This new interface just has too much filler. And the ads. Oy vey. I don't mind an occasional ad, but on every screen change? And several times an ad has popped up that provides no option to close, even after waiting for the required ad run time. The only fix has been to wait for a newer update.

This app become such a disappointment and simply unusable after the update. I have been using this app for years and loved it. It was simple, colorful and it allowed for customization. Then the update happened and all 6 of my accounts, some of which had at least a year of date on it are now completely messed up. I have spent time trying to get the accounts correct again but they are so messed up that it would be easier to start over. At first I was just going to delete everything and start over with the app, but after reading the reviews it appears that a lot of users are having issues after the update. Therefore I have decided to uninstall and find something else. It's terrible that such an incredible app is now essentially useless because of an update.

It let's you have a fair amount of "accounts" and can move money between them very easy. I use it to manage spending with my kids...school teios, supplies, etc. So I can keep them on a budget and keep me on a budget for things like Christmas and birthdays. Super easy to use and have been using it for almost 2 years...just subscribed for a year service ... hate paying but worth it to be able to add extra accounts and get rid of annoying ads.

I loved this app when I first got it years ago. They upgraded their app with a diff look. There's too many ads now. Also since the upgrade some of my transactions aren't entering right. Deductions are placed before deposits on the same date, creating a negative balance in the register. Deposits are always supposed to post first. It gets the job done but it's frustrating.

This app used to work perfectly for me, with occasional ads that usually lasted just a few seconds . Now there are ads cover most of the screen and currently I can't get to my checkbook because there's a LendingTree ad with no close out option. I understand the ads allow me to use the app for free, but since I can't get past the ads to the app, I'm going to have to try a different app. Very frustrated right now.

I've used this app for 5 years or so. It is simple yet intuitive, I love it. Bought the ad free version a few years back. But now there is a current update and it has crashed my app. Can't even open it for a few seconds at a time. Hopefully this gets corrected soon, because this app is such a lifeline in managing your finances on the fly. ***Update***I had to delete and reinstall the app, and this fixed the issue.

This app was fine and simple for me for 2 years, until it updated today (02/12/2020). Functionally, it seems the same, but when I updated the app, I'm missing about 2 months' worth of data for my accounts. Data that was originally on my phone. I'm assuming it restored data from a cloud backup rather than just picking up data that already existed on this device. Really a shame because I would've rated it well otherwise. Hope this is fixed so that other users don't experience what I did.

Great, til it wasn't. Worked fine for years, then a major update hit overnight, so I woke up this morning to an app that looked totally different. That's not a huge deal, apps change aesthetically and functionally from time to time. The big problem is that all of my accounts show balances that are wildly out sync with reality. One of my accounts had a (correct) balance of a few hundred dollars last night, but now shows over $90,000. Please send help.

The app was good before the update. It doesn't work as well now. It no longer remembers if a previous transaction was an expense or income. Also, it's a free app; I get that free apps come with ads, BUT since the update it's almost unusable. Open the app, ad. Click the account you want to update, ad. Click the add transaction button, ad. It's overwhelming.

I've used this app for several years. Loved it so much I bought the premium version. After the recent update, I'm no longer able to back up my data to Google Drive or Dropbox. I think I no longer have the premium services I paid for long ago. All of my payees who had an apostrophe in the name had the apostrophe converted to gibberish - ALL of them. I give two stars only because the app is still basically functional, but I am not happy with the updated version. MUCH preferred the original.

This used to be a very helpful app and I have been using it for years. But, there has been a recent update (within this year) that has now flooded it ads. It's about as bad as it can be...constant ads popping up. Extremely annoying. I know this "free" app needs to make $ for the developer, but apparently greed is in their vocabulary. I was gonna buy the ad-free version, but in my opinion it's way too much $ for what it does. I'm now looking for a replacement checkbook app.

I love this app - much easier than keeping up with a paper register, and it does the math for me. I'm able to record multiple accounts all in one place, and when I upgraded my phone recently, the transition was seamless. I've read many of the other reviews, and haven't seen the issues described. I have the upgraded version of Checkbook on an Android OS. Maybe that makes a difference? I also think some of the problems can be addressed by adjusting various settings within the app after updates.

UPDATE, 10.20.20: I go into the app and guess what? All data was purged again, which means I have to start from scratch with my accounts. I don't know whether there was an update or not but this is tiresome, especially since I paid for it. Worked great until the update, which kept crashing. I ended up deleting the app, which of course purged all of my accounts and info. Not really feeling like reinstalling and starting over. Back to paper, I guess.
