ChefTap Recipes & Grocery List

ChefTap is the only recipe app that can automatically clip recipes from any website.
No, really. No highlighting text, no cutting and pasting, and no list of ‘supported sites’. Just share any English language web page with ChefTap directly from your mobile browser and it’ll take care of the rest.

ChefTap's recipe clipper clips recipes from any website and saves them in your own permanent archive so you'll never lose another recipe again. Have a favorite food blog? No problem! ChefTap will clip those recipes too and give you a link to the original post in case you want to refer back to it. See a recipe you like on Pinterest? Just share the pin or the whole pinboard with ChefTap, we'll add them to your collection.

The big news for this version of ChefTap is grocery lists. ChefTap figures out what you need from the store and combines like items. ChefTap also figures out what section of the store each item on the list is located and sorts the whole list by aisle.

When it’s time to cook, ChefTap displays recipes in a kitchen tested easy-to-read format on both phones and tablets. The recipe scaling feature lets you adjust the yield for any recipe you clip.

You can also search millions of recipes on the web and import them into your collection without ever leaving the app. Tap the search icon in "Feed Me!" to start your search.

Have used this app for years...I love it. It's well organized and easy to use. Clipping recipes from the internet is incredibly simple. I love the edit feature because I'm always tweaking a recipe with my own items. There are dozens of review keepers out there... But this is my favorite. One quibble.. They don't autocorrect anything so if you type Wongs not wings..you discover you have no recipes. It's easily fixed of course and if I paid attention it wouldn't happen.

I love this app so much that I paid for the pro version! This app has so many great qualities but my favorite is that the app doesn't sleep so no need to touch your phone frequently while you're cooking. I love being able to edit recipes to fit my families needs. If I always double a recipe, for example, I can make those changes. I also like the ability to go to the recipe's website to double check. Sometimes the recipe doesn't clip correctly but the creators add new websites as they update.

i love the arrangement of items and steps side by side on my phone when using. i love the way it captures recipes from web. the scaling works well. i have tried others but this is the best. timers would be a nice addition! Synchronizing is a little difficult in the beginning as it doesn't seem initial but i think i have it now. Definitely something to use. one other suggestion is to tie the shopping list to something like our groceries.

Used to love this app. Recently it kept stopping so I uninstalled and reinstalled. Now after update which was supposed to fix sync glitches, it won't sync to bring back photos....and sync only once a week for free version! What's up with that? My account says next sync is July 30 and manual sync does nothing. If you're going to allow 100 recipes for the free version, you should be able to sync them. Very disappointed. Will look for another option.

This app is great for bringing all of your recipes to one spot. I frequently use it it's shopping list which I find to be quite glitchy. The website has a nice version for viewing the recipe all on one screen when you're cooking. Sadly it does not allow you to access the grocery list or notes or make notes when you are on your computer.

They keep adding features. Lord! Today I found meal planning (date, recipe, which meal) and they've had shopping lists for a while. When you add recipes to a shopping list, you get a list of ingredients with checkboxes so you can uncheck the things you already have on hand before you save it. If you have something on that specific shopping list already, it adds the quantities to make the total and not duplicate lines. The shopping list is organized by store department.

Really, 2.5 stars. I've been a paying, pro member for nearly 2 years. This has been the only thing that's ever allowed me to keep my recipes organized. I love the ability to clip recipes from websites (a mostly seamless process in some ways, but keep reading), edit recipes, scale recipes... it's all just great. So what's not to like? This is a huge problem for me, maybe not so much for others, but I don't like internet browsing on my mobile devices. So I use the cheftap website to clip most of my recipes while I'm browsing recipe sites from my desktop computer. Then it takes DAYS and in some instances OVER A WEEK for the recipe to show up on BOTH the website and on the app on my phone (which I use in the kitchen when I'm cooking). It's as if I haven't clipped anything for that amount of time and it doesn't matter how many times I tell cheftap to sync (which I should be able to do an unlimited number of times, since I'm a pro member). Customer support was very unhelpful when I asked them about this. This is VERY annoying and would be a deal-breaker if there was any other app out there that was similar, but I can't find one.

I've had issues trying to add pictures from the Gallery & when clipping recipes from the web on an Android phone. Need more assistance than a link to the KnowledgeBase which did not help. Have had synching issues as well. Whatever you do don't forget your password. If you have to change it, because you forgot it, synching stops working. There are a few bugs that need to be addressed. Other than these issues, I like the app.

Used it for a month now, tried the trial pro version. I like it, I like being able to get recipes from anywhere and import them, organize them, plan leftovers...I am trying a new drastic diet to change my health and it really helps. Now I just have to decide if I want to pay for the pro version. It is quite affordable in the end.

I never rate apps, so this app is kinda a big deal. I LOVE being able to just clip a recipe with zero hassle. No more reading through blog posts, trying to copy and paste, forgetting where you saved a recipe. One tap and your recipe is formatted and saved. Done. I've been using it for over a year with no problems, probably because the developer is so proactive about bugs. Thank you chef tap for making dinner time so flipping easy!!!

ChefTap is my go-to cookbook. We have always prepared fresh meals for our family for the last 30 years. I only wish that ChefTap had been available from the start. I still don't know how it so successfully separates the blog data from the recipe ingredients list and directions but it does. Then gives you the option of making a categorical grocery list for you. The only thing I would like to see as an improvement is the ability to customize grocery market rows in the order of the store I frequent.

Amazing! Just what I needed and more than expected - and after trying other apps I sprung for the Pro version. I'm using it daily as I learn & try new recipes (including fermenting). I have one feature request for future updates, tho! The "notes" feature is vital, so helpful as I experiment with fermentation times + methods, but I do take detailed notes, and I would *love* to see an "undo" feature added to the "notes" text editor - I've had to retype text that disappeared after an errant swipe🤦

I love this app. Recipes can be clipped from Web sites or entered manually and tagged, allowing the database to be searched by tags as well as keywords. The cloud storage option allows syncing between devices. There is a scheduling feature with reminders that connects with your device's calendar that allows you to plan meal prep. I've had this app for several years, and it keeps moving from strength to strength.

What used to be the gold standard is now nothing but a cash grab. When I started using Cheftap, it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. No extra glut or bloat, ads, a simple interface, a decently functional import feature, putting in your own recipes and pictures and all that. Fast forward a few years, and now you can't even input your own recipes without paying for the privilege. On top of that, exporting what you already have only exports an app link that tries to sell pro. Furious!

I'm not normally one to write negative reviews, or any at all but this app is pure rubbish unless you opt to pay for the pro version. It doesn't sync between phone and website except once a week ( ?) apparently, and the ability to manually sync is part of the pro version of course. I was looking for a better way to organize my personal recipes, this app came recommended but this sure isn't it. It even forced me to create an account to even add a recipe, only to discover it doesn't sync to my phone. Don't waste your time on this thing unless you want to pay for it.

I've had this app since 2013. And in all these years through all the updates the same 3 problems have happened. #1. I tag a recipe and it goes right back to the untagged list. #2. I delete a recipe and it pops up again. #3. I edit my tags and they go right back to the old name. I'm sick of this but I have too many recipes and have just renewed so I don't want to delete it. Please fix!

I've been a premium user for 6 years and I've loved it. That is until recently. I've been having trouble with syncing between Android and PC. Contacted support. Got a generic canned response but went thru the steps provided anyways. No luck. Contacted support again. No response. Life got busy and I dropped it for a while. When I got some time, I did more troubleshooting on my own and still no luck. Contacted support maybe a month after the previous attempt. Again no response. Pretty upset. If this is how you treat paying customers then I'm gone. I gave you ample time to rectify this. As soon as I find a suitable replacement for this app (and there are PLENTY), I'll be moving my collection over and cancelling my subscription. BUH-BYE!

I have been using ChefTap for years. My daughter uses it now too. It is easy to download recipes, most of which are correct and complete. Occasionally it misses stuff but that's usually on recipes that have a lot of comments. It's easy to organize my recipes too. Easy to edit recipes and very easy to scale them. It gives you the option to change your mind before you tap to make it a permanent change. Love love ChefTap for even more reasons than posted here.

This is the app I've been dreaming of for cooking. Now it's here! You can import from the internet, edit as needed, and plan your meals, even when you'll eat the leftovers. My favorite feature is the automatic shopping list from a recipe, which let's you un-tick anything you already have at hand.

Jam. C. H. Feb 28, 2020

Janky as hell. Sync functionality is severely lacking, and unreliable at best across all parts: recipes, lists, plans, etc. Tags are slow and clunky and don't work if you have spaces. or sometimes it does. It's up to how cheftap feels at that time. The clip functionality hasn't worked for me yet. Recipe to shopping list needs improvements.

I have tried several apps for recipes and this one by far is the best that I've used. It is easy to clip the recipes and categorize them to suit your needs. In addition, the planning feature allows you to create menu and shopping lists with just a few clicks. I also really like the cross platform option. Love this app!

This is the best cooking app ever. It has everything you need from; downloading recipes, editing w/ pictures, shopping list, tags, scaling, menu, clean UI and more. I have been having this app for a few years and it has gotten better. They are always updating the app, adding new features. It does cost if you want to add more recipes, but if you are an avid cooker it's worth every penny. I am always surprised with added features as they always seem to out do themselves. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I absolutely love this app! I do a lot of cooking and I have the Pro app. For a very small price I carry my 600+ recipes every where I go. I can easily add new recipes, share recipes with friends with just a few buttons, keep shopping lists for separate events and categorize everything. This has really made my life easier.

Fra. K. May 25, 2019

I've tried many recipe apps over the years and this is absolutely the best. I love the ability to "clip" a recipe from virtually any web page by providing the page link (PC version) or by "sharing" a web page (Android app version). No need to manually enter recipes from web sites; ChefTap formats the information into ingredients and preparation steps; it will even find recipe notes and add those to a "notes" section. The app isn't perfect, but it's the best I've seen. This is a must-have app!

What a great app! I was looking for something easy that could help me with meal prep and here it is. Great job on allowing for importing recipes and then being able to create the shopping list. There are probably other apps out there like this but these guys/gals have really raised the bar with how intuitive and easy this is.

CoFounder was pretty passive aggressive when I inquired why my info was invalid. Apparently he gets pissy if you don't use a private email and use your "sign up" email(or junk mail email). Been using this since back when it was free. Don't be fooled, NOT FREE now. And they just delete all the recipes you have had saved when they could of sent you an export file before erasing it all. Don't waste your money. Use Paprika App. It's a 1 time payment and better customer service. They wont delete you.
