Update: After basic troubleshooting (uninstall, reinstall, reboot, etc) I'm left with 'There's nothing we can do, sorry.' it's definitely an issue on their end, likely the server database. So, to read on anything other than my laptop, I have to verify, sign back in, take the stupid app tour, repeat. I keep having to sign in multiple times. It says it thinks I'm using 'automation tools'. I have a book open on my laptop and my phone, no VPN on either, it's definitely coming from the same place.

I don't like the new UI. I miss the scroller at the bottom of the page, made it WAY easier to quickly flip through the book looking for things. I find the minimalist white UI to be ugly and hard on the eyes. I don't seem to have nearly the same control over the settings? I can't make it read out loud (one of the main appeals of e-books) or change how the UI looks. I also need to zoom in to read the text, and I cant change pages while zoomed in. I strongly preferred the old version of the app.

I love this app because it gives me the ability to use e-text books, but its not the greatest and I wish I had gotten it from else where. It doesn't save the last page you were on, so you always have to figure out where you were. The pages flip in a weird way, sometimes it's sensitive other times is hard to get it to flip. The highlight option requires restarting ny phone multiple times a day. Most importantly to me, there is not a dark theme mode. So reading at night hurt your eyes, BAD.

This app is fine, I appreciate the ability to rent my textbooks through this platform. However, it is a pain to try to highlight. I find myself having to spend way to much time trying to highlight the correct lines because the highlight function goes all over the place. I have used many other e-readers and this has the worst highlighting function.

The app is a shadow of what it once was. There is no ability to read aloud, the highlight function doesn't work 90% of the time, internet is now mandatory to be able to read, accurate citation is impossible since the entire book gets reformatted so you have NO IDEA what page you're on, and there is no way to zoom in on textbook graphics or diagrams. I've had to screenshot the diagrams to be able to read them, it's ridiculous.

No landscape? This app is great to view the actual textbook but I would love a landscape option to actually be able to read it with out zooiming and scrolling so much. Doesn't work with my phone and I didn't see an option in the app to have it enabled. Otherwise great app and I am happy to be able to use across different devices.

Continuous crashes. I've been trying of and on for the last 6 hours to get a book to load. Half the time the app gets stuck on the leading screen, half the time I sign in and the app goes black. Tried wifi, tried mobile data, tried restarting. If I uninstall it, I won't put it back on. DART is worth the extra if it works when i need it.

Many basic functions don't function. Echoing what other reviewers have said: the highlight feature does not work. You long press a word, it highlights that, but then the entire app freezes and you can't do anything but force restart it. It's glitchy, the pages only scroll if you zoom all the way out first, there's no landscape or dark mode. It's like living in 2014 or something. Just...not a good app.

It's not functional from a mobile phone (mine has a 6.5 inch screen) because the text size for all of my books does not resize to fit the screen. This is something that PDFs will do, the kindle app will do, and all mobile sites have been doing for years. The whole point of buying an ebook is so I can read on the go, on multiple devices. Thus far I'm not impressed and will not be using chegg for ebooks again.

The old eReader app worked. This one seems pointless and doesn't have any of the tools the old app had. It won't let me highlight or change the size of the text. Which makes it difficult to read. Rent the book. This app is not what it used to be. I talked to the chegg 1-800 person and they said they haven't added those features along with "read along" to this new app. Way disappointed. Causing a lot of stress my first week of school.

The app keeps crashing! I'm trying to read my book for college and every 30 seconds, the app freezes and then an error saying the app isn't responding and I have to close it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, closed all other apps on my phone, and restarted my phone a handful of times. I need this app to access my book and I'm about over it freezing and crashing!!

This app could use an update and plenty of bug fixes for many things especially the highlight tool and page numbers as well as a page jump feature. I would put 2 stars bc it is useful to be able to access my e books without having to use a browser. But it is extremely frustrating that every one of these reviews with constructive criticism is just met with a bot asking the reviewer to email the feedback support. Please just read the feedback in the many poor reviews and fix it!!!

It's the end of the semester and this app has seen 0 updates to bug fixes. Problems persist of constant freezing of the app.there are little to no features on the app(giving you the ability to highlight some lines but that's it). But even when using it's only feature it breaks the app and freezes my entire phone for some time until it decides to work again. Overall I am shocked that chegg has customers with its horrible assets. Use Amazon Kindle or something else because this is not worth it.

Very sad! It keeps glitching, telling me I have to deactivate a device, then listing devices I've already deactivated. Once I select them again, it says "Whoops! Something went wrong." I can't access my textbook for class at all on my device I use for school, and that's very disappointing.

I really don't like this app as much as the other version. It is hard to highlight and did not have the option to allow you to be able text to read version which was a good option. So if I was working. I could hear the text as was reading or doing something else.

This app allows me to read my text book from anywhere. However, after a week or so the features stopped working. I can no longer highlight anything. I would have been better off buying a paper copy of the text so that I could actually make notes and highlights.

SHAME ON CHEGG! You are risking the academic success of ALL your users. The app is inaccurate "stating I don't have access to my e-textbook", moves too slowly, and is a complete inconvenience! Do better CHEGG or let the app go!

Zooming is horrible in the app. You either have to zoom pretty far in or spend 5 min trying to get the one sweet sopt it won't zoom back out. Highlighting is also horrible. Its either Highlight a word or a whole page nothing in between. A text to speech option would be great too.

Books load pretty slow for book reference while test taking. You have to be logged in to access the books. The app itself is almost 1 gigabyte even though the books are on html format (not epub or mobi). App needs major work but at the same time it's pretty convenient that you can access digital books which are at a fraction of the cost of a physical book.

There's no full screen mode so if you have a book with small print you have to zoom in on every single freaking page. If they made it more like the Amazon Kindle app it would be way better.

The app is terrible on my Samsung tab A that I bought specifically for this purpose. Text size is too small and hard to read with no option to change it. No ability to highlight, or annotize. Bookmarking function works and the app saves your page so I guess that's a plus

App won't let me sign in. I can only log in right after downloading the app. If I close out of it it signs me out says "sorry we encountered an error" when trying to log in. Have to Uninstaller and reinstall app every time I need to look at my textbook
