The app is really convenient to listen to while driving, running, etc., but the reader reads EVERYTHING on the page and sometimes in a random order. wish there was an option for the reader to just stick to the main bodiea of text instead of interjecting with photo captions and copyright information mid-paragraph. otherwise, great!
App is near unusable due to loading ridiculously slow. Web page ends up loading significantly faster, which is strange since the book is downloaded to the device with the app. Skip this eReader and just use the webpage. You'll save yourself so much stress. Chegg needs to rework this app if this many people are having the same issue instead of merely giving a copy paste response of uninstall and reinstall the app. It's clearly something wrong in the coding and rendering of each page.
The eReader is great for students who don't like to carry around all their textbooks, they can have them all in their daily devices and available online. You can even download them on your daily devices to read them when you don't have internet or phone data. You can search through the book using the search bar, go through the chapter index, or scroll through a page slider to get to the page you need.
app is useable but the reading format for epub is not very good in my opinion. All the pages are stuck together I cant tell what page I am on because the page number takes a bit to show up. I'd prefer a more "book like" approach instead with each page going horizontal instead of having to scroll down infinitely not knowing where a page ends.
This app is incredibly slow and requires a constant internet connection while accessing textbooks. As an added insult, my book rental expired 2 full weeks before my school semester ended, and cannot access my notes after the rental expired. Very helpful surprise there, guys!(sarcasm)
Chegg eReader is a great app. they offer audio to all their ebooks which is extremely helpful for me as I drive a lot due to my work and school schedule. The audio allows me to listen to my textbooks in the car. I probably wouldn't get as much reading as I do done without this app.
My books are chronically disappearing without warning or explanation. The only thing I figure is wrong is that the app needs a constant update. This is happening a few times a semester and is not conducive to learning.
This application works well and I would recommend it. Would have rated a 5 If there was the option to add flash cards to the notes area, as well as, the out loud reader option needs a better voice. I am an auditory learner but the voice is very annoying.
this reader is awful as it cuts off the bottom of the pages and is not user friendly. The one on the computer you can only use if you are connected to wifi. save yourself the hassle and get the book elsewhere
Absolutely abysmal. Takes literally minutes to load. Sometimes it won't load at all. Useless. I paid for an etextbook, that means I should be able to access it anywhere, from my mobile device, but this app doesn't seem to agree with that. Outrageous.
Terribly slow! Useless if you need to view more than one page per use. No replacement for a book or even a third as useful as other ereaders. It's going to be a rough semester, thanks chegg...
Well, Bought a book for my class and I have no idea what to do considering the app won't even let me log in!!! What a waste of money. I was left with $3 for the next week after purchasing this ebook only to not even have genuine access to the book... guess I should've researched first. Seems I'm not the only one finding this app trash due to the extreme bugs. Hmm... what to do now that I have a class requiring reading and a lack of funds to fix the issue... maybe stress? Yeah, thanks.
I cant really review the app at this point, as I cant even log in to the app. As soon as I enter my login information the screen goes blank and stays there. I have tried everything ( uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my phone).
Seems like it only works on I guess, low demanding ebooks. 1 of the 3 I have work ok-ish. This is a pure embarrassment of this company to specifically want to cater to the people who want to study/learn. Yet they cant because thier own product fails the consumer. Clearly there are memory leaks which causes the app to go into abysmal operation. I dont get why the developers havent fixed the issue and or say they acknowledged the issue. All ive seen is to send your problems to an email.
This app was good in my last semester, now it can't even load a single page without freezing... My phone is galaxy s9+ if wondering, so please fix it because it's really annoying when you can't use the app at school.
This app is absolutely trash. I can't believe chegg is producing this low quality app. I can't scroll horizontal like a book, I there are no breaks in the pages, it skips pages and nothing is numbered. Plus it doesn't work on smartphones only tablets. This is ridiculous. I feel robbed, I should have purchased from Amazon because the Kindle app is lightyears ahead of this "eReader". For a company whose whole business is books this doesn't allow you to read a book after your buy it.Needs an update
For the past two days I've had to uninstall then reinstall if i want the app to load....not fun. Convenient app though, its nice to have all my books in one place. It would just be nice if it actually functioned. Edit: app sucks even more now. 2 reinstalls just to sign in.
This app is horrible. I guess Chegg did not consider those who made accounts using their Google accounts, because it was a hassle trying to log in. The all takes you to a third party login site which is unfortunate you can't just log in on the app. Once you try to log in with you Google account, it's just sits there doing nothing. Changing my password was a hassle because since I made it with my Google account, it kept saying my password is incorrect.
Would be great if i didnt have ro close the app every few pages to get it to load properly. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, cleaned the catch, and I have redownloaded books. Fix it please.
If I could give this app 0 stars, I would! I was not able to read full pages of my Phonetics textbook and I have a quiz coming up soon. Luckily I was able to make photo copies with a classmate's textbook.
I purchased Business Communication eBook from Chegg and I'm extremely disappointed with it. If I open from browser, each time I'm asked stupid thing like I'm not Robot and select Car etc and its an endless task selecting the cars. Tried to look for this APP but has no option to download it. I feel it has cheated on me.
Even though the voice to read the book is very monotone, I was able to listen to the chapters on my commute to work. That helped me understand the reading material.
I have no issues with the app. I only took off a star because I would like for the text reader function to have more options (like different voices).
I can't access my newly purchased textbooks in the e-reader. I can only access them through the chegg website, which is not as user friendly. I'm having issues with the highlight feature and I cannot see what page I am on, which makes accurately citing my textbook impossible.
Unable to add etextbook to library, so I can't use the app. I contacted support who said it is a feature being worked on and wouldn't be available until August.
I'd give it less than one star if I could. I downloaded this about a week ago. I cannot say much about it because my book is STILL downloading. I'm connected to Wifi. Chegg needs to come up with offline ereader that can be used on a PC.
It's helpful to be able to have the material read. That way i can work on other things. Love the read feature and the way the books are set up.
Mak8ng my life very difficult for signing up via Google. I downloaded the app but I can't sign in. I was hoping I'd save money and now I think I made a bad decision trusting your company. Why does it open my browser to sign in and just keeps loading and never signing in? I opened a new tab and went to your site, I'm logged in there so what gives??
I enjoy Chegg eReader because I need to read on-the-go most of the time. I would really love it if they would have an actual person reading it, but I see where they have different speed options for those who may need it to be read slowly.
This app is very useful for students who like using electronic textbooks. It's not perfect but is pretty good. My favorite feature is the "audiobook" function. Pretty much it uses the Google assistant voice (for Android) and reads the textbook word for word. Sometimes it mixes up the page and you have to read it yourself for it to make sense but that usually does not happen. **Chegg if you see this can you update the app to skip reading the copyright statement at the end of every page?** Thanks
