Chennai Auto Fare Meter

This application is GPS based auto fare meter made for Chennai. This application helps a passenger to cross check & verify whether he/she is paying correctly to the auto driver as per cost fixed by Tamilnadu government.
Any one travelling in Auto in Chennai will surely face problem when the driver ask crazy amount. The last day where the meter worked properly was in the Tamil movie Baashha and driver is none other than super star Rajini sir.

But now things are changing after Tamilnadu government announced the revised fare for auto rickshaw last month and Chennai police taking stringent action against auto drivers who does not follow rules.

This happening's made me think of building a real time Mobile App for calculating the Auto fares. This app will gives you exact result similar to digital auto meter. (Thanks to GPS hardware available in mobiles). This app calculates the traveled distance based on GPS location which will be accurate compared to digital auto meter fixed in auto, thus guarding the passenger from faulty or malfunctioning meter of the auto rickshaw.

This application is very simple in nature. Once app is clicked it will come to a screen where passenger need to click "START" button. This button need to be clicked when the auto is hired. After that when auto is reached the destination click "STOP" button. The fare will be shown on the screen. To view past details click LOGS button in the home screen.

Downsides:

Since the app depends on GPS signal to work, the app will not show exact result when travelling in places where GPS signal is poor. This we will improve at next version by including A-GPS where GPS not available.
