This game has really perfect internal engine, which is reacting to my current skills (including my tiredness), so I always enjoy playing the game. I really started to like to play chess by this application and its repsonsive difficulty level. It is the best app (at least for beginners surely; but probably for everyone), I really enjoy playing chess in this app and I even feel my progress thanks to app which allows me to play at my level, which means pleasant practicing for me.-------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I expected bought Chess will be key to switch-off ads in Free Chess or that Chess will import my settings from Free Chess. It is unpleasant to tap all settings again. Especially in that auto scrolling settings mode. But, well, it is once, after buying, so I will try to survive it... Chess free is great (after my own settings), so I hope full Chess will be too. Edit: Free Chess have good dark brown background, but distraction by ads. Bought Chess have too light too sharp red background without good reason. Nothing is ideal... Edit: OK, I have changed background now. I changed board and pieces immediately after instalation, but I did not notice changing of background then. It looks to be OK now. ---------------- Great algorithm of computer player - it is adaptive very well; so I can enjoy game at my current level. Algorithm is able to beat me anytime, but it gives me a chance according my level at current moment, so I can always enjoy a game.
good app. no complaints. highly recommend. I'm a very new novice so there may features that I may be missing to enhance my UI experience. not sure how or why this app is related to Google (green triangle) game app but I can play through either the app or through Google game console or app. I'm at level one...if you want to play chess, this is a very good app. again, highly recommend.
Great chess app. Loads of features. The only thing that is missing is the chat option when playing against a human opponent online. This feature is on a free chess app I also have when playing against a friend. It's a real pitty this feature is missing. Hence 1 star removed.
Not a chess aficionado. This is a great game. Many levels of difficulty to play the computer. Offers help if you ask. Save game. Many other features I don't use.
I love the simplicity of this app but I wish the online play had a timer/clock so that some games didn't go on forever. I'll start a match and then the other player will stop playing half way through and the game is just there. 15/30/60 minute games as an option would be nice. Hope it happens some day.
about the best chess app I've come across. worth buying the ad free version. lovely 3d pieces and boards, plenty of skill levels. you'd pay about £100 for an equivalent chess computer.
Extremely well designed. Wonderful way to learn chess, improve your game, or just enjoy. Adjust level of play to suit your purpose. Excellent for beginner to expert.
Been using this app since it first came out. Love that the difficulty has been upgraded throughout the years. For the Developers: In the Game Review menu please move the move buttons to the right side of the screen for us right-handers. Best Chess App on the market and worth the money. Future ideas: Openings tutorials, puzzles, customizable colors.
This superb app is not just the best chess app out there -- believe me, I've tried over a dozen of them -- it's a major reason why I stay on Android. Nobody is better than AI Factory. The gameplay is a pleasure, with a pleasant environment customizable to a multitude of different appearances including my favorite, a red/amber checkerboard and elegantly simple black and white icon pieces, and allow single, partner, or internet human opponent play. Casual mode is great for learning, with a tutor available to suggest logical or even deeply brilliant moves, as well as to show pieces in danger, allow unlimited "take-it-back" undoing of moves. The CPU can operate at a 1-10 level of difficulty to provide you incrementally more challenging gameplay as you learn. A beautifully designed and marvelous app that's not just a great way to learn the game, but a work of art!
Great app! Clean and simple visuals and menus, 10 different difficulty levels and some helpful tools for beginners like me.
Clunky UI, Good AI When playing someone else online, it's difficult to disengage from that match and continue another ai or online match. Though I am terrible at chess, I think the AI is good. The tutorial / learning system is pretty awful and should explain WHY a move is good, not just show what move the computer would take (specifically for moves that require setup and forethought). Edit: fixed typos and clarified final sentence
Great app. Lots of settings, options, challenge levels. Can't think of anything to improve, honestly.
This is wonderful! the AI engine of this game is very FAIR It playing like a living being in all levels! the design is simple and professional, it function well, i highly recommended it.
For the price, the developer has done excellent job!!! Having said that, here are a few things that I want (not demanding). Configurable UI. I don't need to see big "Chess" text on top. (I know that I am playing chess..) I want more menu buttons (I always get computer's help and I have to press two buttons for that!) I don't want my captured pieces covered with text during the game or after the game for analysis. When I review the game, those steps buttons are on the left, I want to move right.
Been using this app for well over a decade. Every once in a while I test a different chess app yet always return to this one. The graphics are ok, but its the controls that have me hooked. I'm only a novice player, but a daily one (you'd think I'd show improvement at some point), so I can't really rate the gameplay algorithm. Obviously, the more difficult you set it, the harder it will be to win.
Reduced rating to 3 stars. Multi-player mode enables bad sportsmanship and punishes the other player. Recommendations for multi-player mode: after so many moves, abandoning the match becomes unavailable; a player can then only resign or play to completion. If a player pauses the game on their turn in an attempt to "ghost" the match, they lose by default after 90 minutes of inaction. If a player resigns, add a text box thanking them for their good sportsmanship. Allow players to offer a draw.
I love the app, but it would be great if the online multi-player had some kind of maximum time limit between moves. I'm currently in an active game where the opponent could tell he was losing, so he just paused the game and left. I have check mate in 1, but he hasn't made a move in over 12 hours so I can't play it and win. Clearly he's hoping that I'll abandon the game and his loss won't be recorded. Instead I guess I'll just leave it on pause forever, hoping he comes back.
This is the best chess game I have found for Android but it could be better. I'd like an option to turn off all the slidey animations you have to wait through in the menu screens. Also, sometimes after the computer opponent moves, I want to go back and see what its last move before that was, but then the computer's next move will often be different to the original one so I can't ever get back to the same place again.
While I love the game (this is why I got the paid version), the multiplayer part is a total disappointment. It lacks the necessary functionality to make it useful. 1. Chat is not existent. 2. Proposing remi surrender etc. is not existent. 3. There are no time limits, which allows many players to avoid losing the game by simply abandoning it. As stupid such behaviour sounds, it is surprisingly prevalent. 4. There is no ranking of the players, and it is not possible to choose the ELO rating of your opponents. This leads to playing mostly with very inexperienced players (basic statistic), but I do not think such uneven matches are enjoyable for neither of the sides. 5. No basic statistic, like games, played, wins, loses, timeouts. The ranking is not at all implemented. As a start ELO ranking, I think the PRO mode can be used as some type of base for comparison.
This is by far the best of the 6+ chess apps that I've played. Clean interface & reasonable AI for each level. The tutor left me without warm fuzzies though. When you ask it for help it just suggests what piece to move next - but not where to move it. More than 1/2 the time I chose to ignore the suggestion and didn't regret it. But for the money I don't think that this can be beat.
Just what I wanted. Have not played in decades, nice to have tutor to show me all the mistakes I make lol. Played free a bit then bought it. Wish the hint/analyse button was on main screen so you didn't always have to go to menu first. I love the one fixed price, hate these games that say $1.99 to $25 per item. Nope, not even taking the chance on you. Summary. Good chess game Good tutor Good graphics etc. Support Good developers and buy it.
Excellent game. Lots of options for board, pieces and play. Beginners are well supported. Hint/tutor would be better if it explained why it was suggesting a move (eg knight fork, pin, skewer... And highlighted relevant pieces). AI on moderate levels simulates weaker play but sometimes makes a spectacularly stupid move, which is frustrating. It would be better to limit how bad an individual move can be based on level.
I have this app on my phone and tablet. I have played probably a few thousand games at various degrees of difficulty. The graphics and speed are great. The only thing preventing me from giving a 5 is the Pro option and how it rates. It seems one can win many games and the rating increases in small increments. But lose one game and the drop is in hundreds(!).8/23-Guess I need to skip to level 12.
While almost everything about app works great, I have an issue with the AI. The low level AI (example 2 or 3) are still too good for beginners making chess engine type of moves and that they only tend to make obvious unhumanly mistakes by intentionally feeding let's say their queen to compensate for that. My point? This game fails to replicate a human like opponent. Their playstyle also remains the same. Sometimes I want to fight a defensive AI. Sometimes I want to fight an aggressive one. If there was an option to choose an AI's playstyle then this game would truly be worth 5 starts. For now, 4 starts would do because this app is still smooth and well developed.
I bought this because whenever I commute I love to play chess. I like the 2 player feature but I wish there is a setting where the board didn't have to switch so we can play facing each other if that makes sense. Other than that it's a classic chess app with no ads, lots customization and you can pick what rating you want to go against.
