Prince Kaspar's castle has many rooms in which the individual chess pieces are introduced. Depending on how much prior knowledge you bring into the chess game, you can have every piece introduced to you at your own pace. Lots of exercises are at your fingertips in which you can directly apply what you've learned.

In addition, you'll find all possible finesses and secrets in the big chess book in Prince Kaspar's library such as the pawn fork, the Italian gambit, or the scholar's mate. Do you know castling or the "en passant" move yet?
Naturally Prince Kaspar is ready to play a round of chess with you at any time. First you have to defeat him, then you're allowed to also play with Capt'n Black.

Makes learning chess fun and interesting, with some effective encouragement and targeted guidance. Has definitely taken me beyond beginners level in just a few brief lessons. The challenges within the tutorials for each type of piece can be frustrating, but with perseverance they pay off in solid skills. I feel like this app has mentored me, which is very satisfying! A real keeper, worth the Google Play Pass subscription in it's own right. Looking forward to my first game against Capt'n Black!
A decent chess program. It looks like it's designed for kids, but it skips over a ton of stuff. For example to pass the bishop tutorial you have to get checkmate with just the king and two bishops, but it never teaches you how to do that... But just before that it was going over the basics and asking you to just choose what spaces the bishop could move to. Could be great, but needs a ton more content to fill in the holes.
Easy to learn makes it fun I always wanted to learn chess this made it easier to learn. Takes a little bit of time to learn the piece moves . The tutorial is great the cartoon castle theme is great. I highly recommend it. You actually learn the moves and some openings of the game.
I am a chess player. When I started the app. Wasn't quite sure about it. Now I actually learned a few good moves that I knew about, but wasn't quite sure how to do them. Now no problem. Really good app for a new chess player or even a great chess player. I really enjoy the challenges. Thank you for the app
You have to hold and drag where you want pieces to go. Bad design and there is no option is the settings to change it
I love this game more then any other (chess game that is) its not only educational but very entertaining so long as you like chess.
Doesn't work. When I start the app, no matter how long I wait its stuck on "checking license".
Great app for learning how to play chess! My only problem with the app is the challenge to check the king with two bishops, there are no hints or help of any kind. Add help to the game and I will update and give 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!
At first I thought was going to be a cartoon like game for kids. When I started playing and figured out how to play the game. I really liked it. I've been playing chess for 43 yrs. And this game tonight me some moves I never knew how to do. I highly recommend it to old or new players.
Could be a little more descriptive in terms of how to progress through the tutorial but overall pretty good
The designer of this "game" is so paranoid about bootleg versions of the app that he programed the stupid thing to do a lisence check that this, the legitimate version of the thing can't pass! As such the game is an unplayable bad joke! Try Lichess instead. It actually is playable unlike this garbage. UNINSTALLED!
Somewhat interesting, but when you want to play chess, there are good chess games without all the irrelevant story stuff.
Adding a "help" feature to the tutorials would be awesome.

I actually really liked the learning process it has set up. It also leads yoh through basics and then Increases the practice difficulty. As a teacher I also liked that you weren't allowed to bypass a problem. I had to repeat it and even check out a few YouTube videos about that particular challenge before I could see the board differently overcome the challenge. Well designed learning tool.
