Best free chess tactics app on the market, no competition. Has 100 puzzles at each the easy, medium and hard difficulties of every module, and lets you bookmark your favourites for review! The only thing I wish they'd add is the freedom to play on, after a puzzle is complete; just to explore the outcomes of the solutions.

It definitely makes you think & I'm sure it hasn't hurt my game. Developer claims there is only 1 correct move. It appears that several puzzles have 2-3 correct moves, although they dock your score if it is not the move they prefer! I wouldn't think the developer is an expert player. If you use hint, sometimes when it gives you the hint & you make the move it suggests, it says wrong move! If you hit back & do over it will take the move! I'm guessing developer has never played thru the puzzles!

Ya this was the best thing but i am not happy that if we do the puzzle in another way of checkmate or any other puzzles then it say wrong ❌ move i am very sad about that that's why i wanted to say this please make it good and the app was very good that's why i am giving 4 stars

I love it,and I see progress after using this app,it would be better if they rate your progress and you're able to see your score 😇,but besides all it's a good app, DANKO means THANK YOU 😇✌️

Let me say this again because I can't respond to your comment, developer. Pressing back is a very common thing people do, and when back is pressed, the app closes. It's very annoying. Make pressing back close the menu. It's useless to make back to close the game. Fix this and I'll change the rating.

Very easy to use app but very helpful. I have played chess for years but this app is helping me improve.

Great for learning, the ads are not frequent and don't take long.

Great app!! 7/5 stars. With a free version you get a lot of content to practice your checkmates and middlegame (everything sorted in categories and difficulty levels). It also has some challenges. You can also check your statistics/progress. It's easy to use and well designed. Takes a lot of time to go through everything and with paid version you get even more, so it's worth the money.

Good for basic learning, but there's issues. For example, with "mate in X moves" part, there are occasionally multiple solutions, but only one will be accepted. Other valid solutions will be marked as errors. In addition, it doesn't really offer advice on strategy or how to analyse the game. Instead it simply has you move pieces around without explaining anything. Not a good way to really learn the game.

This is a wonderful app, and certainly worth a download. My only suggestion: on the puzzles, if you click on the piece that is not related to the solution of the puzzle, the screen updates with text saying 'Wrong Move,' even before you move that piece. That makes it easy to find the piece that will do the right move, as it is the only piece that won't prompt the 'Wrong Move' text. Also, on the progress page, it says there are 26 easy exercises for discovered check, but there are actually only 25

The app is great! I have been looking gor chess coaches like this for a month. Glad I found this. Next time perhaps Ill rate it 5 stars. The problem is just that, when I study openings, I couldn't go back to the previous moves. In addition, I also can only reproduce after I finish the whole tutorial. Hope youll fix it! 😊

Love it. Easy to use. Great to learn and practice patterns. Ty. Edit: I'm encountering missing pieces. When you go to next after a puzzle like checkmate in 3, or any other, sometimes the pieces do not appear on the board. Please look into it. I'll keep the 5 star cuz I really do enjoy it..and it's very minor imo. You can only notice it cuz you cannot solve the puzzle, and if u get a hint It shows a move where there's a not a piece. U can see the pieces if u go back, and hit next again. Ty

I really like this app, and enjoy the puzzles - check in 1 etc. However, as someone who is admittedly useless at chess, and doesn't play much, I wanted to learn some of the classic openings. BUT - the gameplay, for a tiro, is MUCH too fast! It whizzes through the first moves, then invites you to reproduce it - I'm still trying to remember the 3/4th move! PLEASE give the option to slow it down, because it's a really good app!

Runs great. Lots of puzzle, same as any large chess book; however, it fits in my pocket, plays music, and doubles as a phone. Only thing that irritates me is, on occasion, my move is not what I intended, (fat fingers?) and may even be illegel, but still counts as a wrong move. Petty, I know. Over all great app, may get the pro version.

I'm trying to improve my check game and really like the instructional aspect of this app. What I don't like is the look and feel. The game play is to choppy. The pieces just disappear from one square and appear in another. I think of enjoy the world championship replays much better if it had forward and back buttons rather that mere start and stop. Also, if it is to just play the game, play it slower so I can absorb the gameplay and learn, rather than just watch pieces appear and disappear.

I just finished the first set of 100 !ate in 1 puzzles and it is good in that in makes you look for the quick kill but there were a few puzzles where I'm pretty sure my move would have worked but the app wanted a different move. EDIT: I completed the medium and hard levels of the mate in 1 puzzles and found my original criticism was probably wrong, in that there is only one solution possible. When a wrong move is made, no reason is given, but that forced me to look harder to see why.

I absolutely love chess but had an average gameplay at best. this app teaches you to look for things you never even would think of previously. Perfect example, I was play a losing game, and saw I was about to lose to mate in 3 moves, but I noticed a certain pattern that I've played on here, and won the game with a rook sacrifice. Would never have picked up on it if it wasn't for this app

Fun, and plenty of challenges; some are repetitive. Mostly 4 instead of 5 because it's lacking some things: when I select a piece and then instead try to select a different piece, it counts it as a mistake; have to deselect piece before selecting another. Also, when watching championship games, there is pause but no rewind. Makes it hard to analyze for a amateur like me.

Quite useful when you already have a basis. One thing I think it can be improved would be an indication of why a move is wrong, what would be the opponent's move that would prevent us from achieving our goal (e.g by blinking in red the figure and its destination)... Maybe being optional with a button in case someone prefers to find out by themselves.

K. Dec 4, 2020

1) Generally speaking, this isn't a "coach", it's a quizz. It doesn't teach you anything, it assumes you already know things and punishes you for mistakes without explaining why the move was wrong. 2) Bare bones, ugly interface. 3) Unlike most intuitive apps nowadays, it requires you to tap again to unselect a piece before you tap on another of your own, otherwise it counts as a mistake. That's just bad design, not the player's mistake. 4) It's padded out with repeat puzzles to feed more ads.

I like this game, it really helped with my chess. But on some levels ( for example position 26 on mate in 1 easy ) we had to move a piece to a specific square even though it would still be mate on other square's and it would count as a mistake. I just would like to get that changed, but other than that the game is great for learning

This has a lot of good puzzles, organized by category, which you can play through to boost your tactical prowess. There are occasionally issues with piece selection. Also some of the puzzles, such as the first hard mate in 4+, seem to have multiple solutions. Figuring out the expected one can be annoying. Good overall though.

Fly. P. a. P. Jan 2, 2021

It's a little bit unhelpful that it marks "illegal" moves as mistakes. Usually, it's because I'm not fully aware of which piece I've selected and the app thinks I'm trying to move with the wrong piece selected. But really, it should be clear that I'm trying to select my queen, not trying to move my knight onto my queen (for example). The puzzles themselves are great so far, and longer, which I like.

Art. P. Aug 11, 2019

Very interesting. I had thought some of the puzzles were wrong, however after looking at the puzzle closely, it was always something I missed. I would give 5 stars if there was more explanation on the strategies and what to look for. The puzzles were good, but as a 'coach,' I was hoping for more understanding on how chess players think, and how I can apply the strategies to a real game.

Rac. P. Mar 20, 2021

At first this drove me nuts as it is quite bare bones, but I'm a complete convert now. There are tons of puzzles to work through, and my play has definitely improved. I would love to have a "play again" button so I can drill plays into my brain more efficiently. The "information" on each play is also a bit confusing and could be made clearer. But this is fab, thank you!

It's a very good app, but there are some exercises that don't let me continue practicing because It appears an ad to rate the app even though I have done it and I cannot skip that. In conclusion, I can't continue practicing in some exercises duo to the ad. for example in destruction of a Guard in Medium level, I can't continie after that puzzle. solve this problem and I'll give 5 starts.

EDIT 3/11: Just tried the app again & was told my first move was wrong and ten moves later was told it was the correct move. Uninstalled. EDIT: WAY too many glitches in the FORK section. For example, I moved to the correct square and was told 'wrong' over and over, hit the HINT button and I was right. Also in the FORK section, in more than example, there are more than one perfectly viable FORKS to choose from. NOT good for practicing.
