Quick overview on how to use one of the main features of the app: First, open the app and go to manage repertoire. Add your opening. Then select Prepare. On the main UI (the chessboard) enter your move and every opponents expected move manually. Use the built-in chess engine to find your best move or use a good chess book. Alternatively, import a PGN file with many games including comments and variations to automatically populate your chess opening repertoire. Then you are ready to train your opening. Select train in the main menu. Train your chess opening repertoire by playing mock games against it until you are familiar (pattern recognition) with every terrain (variation lines) in your opening repertoire.

Having display issues on my chromebook. I contacted tech support/customer service twice, but have not received any response. It could also use a proper user guide. It is not intuitive, so takes a lot of frustrating trial and error to figure out all the buttons, features, and available settings.
A well thought out chess program for the serious player, the interface may be overwhelming at first due to the many options, but makes total sense after some use. I especially like reviewing the many annotated historical games. Highly recommended for those serious about chess.
Beyond Awesome. Makes it unbelievably easy to create a repertoire, and analyze the position. I bought all the repertoire apps, this is the only one I use.
This app was really good for preparing opening repertoire. I highly suggest this for chess players. However these are some of what I hope or what I suggest: 1. Add pre-move when playing against the chess engine. 2. Let us analyze using computer during study mode but the moves being played will not be saved as variations unlike in the preparation mode. It helps studying better since it will let us explore the opening without really ruining the saved variations or lines.
This app is exactly what I was looking for. I love how customizable it is. What a hidden gem! I gotta say, I tried many other chess training apps, but none of them provided me with a simple way to put my repertoire knowledge to test. I'm a programmer as well, and I was almost giving up the search and would try to make my own solution... Something that would suit all my needs. Now I don't need to do it, as I found your app.
After a few days of using this app, i found it is easy to build my opening repertoire and by practicing it through training and play against the engine I feel the learning is easy and fun. My request to the developer is to provide the engine analysis a capability for a pause/resume without hiding the analyzed lines, with this i can able to read and understand the lines without moving a piece. Also in Play mode, the engine setting should be very good if can set to elo rating.
Bad job :( The Opening File can't be transferred, Can't you guys do any better? It's a waste of time and effort if you build a repertoire in 2 years then your Battery Built in Phone has reach it's battery life span and you need to transfer it to another device in order for you to not lose your precious repertoire. But with this app that has no option of sharing to another device "Goodbye Old Friend e4" Need to build a new one :( I'll give 1 Star for the bad service sorry..
Amazing app, it has many features for any player do you want make a big improvement in chess carrer and we are still need improvement in this amazing app in which has complete chess training and i think with some efforts will become in the first class in chess training app with fritz and chessbase. My rating is incredibly jumping up and i don't want more than study my opening Repertoire and Analysis it and when i trained i use my thinking system and collect the tactic position in topic folder.
Excellent app. You can try your openings and also play with the engine with the selected lines. Wonderful support by the promoter. I was not able to save the games and it was solved with one email. Keep up the good work.
Really helpful app, I use it everyday. It grants the opportunity to train your repertoire and to test it versus the engine. Some minor bugs have to be fixed, but the developer answers quickly. I recommend it
Hi Developer! this new version is good cuz i dont see any bugs yet but i do have complain about the back button whenever i click on it, it quits the app instead of going back to the previous page or previous menu and also i want more chess board and pieces styles please that's all thanks 👍
Best Opening app for me! I just want to suggest to add ability to comment on specific sequence of move only. For example, the comment wont show up if the same position was reached through a different sequence.

I like this because it allows users to import .pgn files, sort black and white openings and repertoires in folder structures. Allows users to focus their training on moves with low recollection scores, or lines not yet trained...etc.
This is the only app I found on play store that can help me conveniently build my chess opening tree. It is very simple to use with very intuitive user interface. I definitely recommend it to everyone. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for allowing the invert. However, I have a new suggestion. It's not about the colour but the percentage of transparency. Meaning something like 100%, 75% and 50%. Will really appreciate if you can consider it in the next update. Also, may consider having dark theme for areas around chessboard including those for comments etc
Great software to practice chess openings. The developer should add support to eboards such as Certabo, Millennium, Chessnut Air, etc. Other chess apps nowadays include connectivity to eboards. Should this happen I'll change my rate to 5 stars.
Very good, i have improved a lot, practicing up to 1000 positions per opening, sometimes though, clicking an opening I see a small label saying (trained: 355/655 moves) when i select training style (candidate moves not yet trained) this counter doesn't go up, what exactly are the rules to make sure you get to train all the moves?
Developer unresponsive. I never received a reply from my email to the developer asking why the app stops when trying to save the games to png.
Bought it, quickly discovered engine load error in android 10, refnded it, then bought it again on my old Android 8. Eng worked on 8 so I kept it and 3 days later, dev fixed the engine load bug. So far, I like everything except for saving pgn games with it as it defaults to Mixplorer file manager which is impossible to save pgn using mixplorer thus I have to share the pgn with 3rd party and then save my game through 3rd party. Upgrade Stockfish13 from 11 or allow user import Stockfish13
This app is a hidden gem, I had been looking for something like this for a long time, if you save a pgn file from your trainer or from youtube, you can upload it and the app will teach you all the moves by playing the opponents moves against you, furthermore it will decipher all of the available branches and cover them in turn.
Hopefully Android 11 dark mode issue will be fixed by the developer. The app works great. User friendly and good functionality.
Best app I've ever used to train openings. There were initially some problems when I first bought the app, but the developer addressed my claims and fixed them! Would recommend. Worth every penny.
Why doesn't it merge with the free version 🤦🏾♀️now i have to input all my openings again. Also I have to make the first move for white when i want to train the second variation of an opening as black. EDIT Okay Thanks for helping out

It is not a trainer game. I thought it will train how play the chess and it's technique to play. But it is a plain chess game . Just like other games . Don't purchase this game. Based on rating I purchased the game. Honestly it is worst game. Just like simple other games. Please refund my money back. My installation is 1 day old. Please refund. Thanks..
Chess Trainer is a good opening repertoire trainer. One request though - it would be great if there was an option to turn off the blue arrows in the Study mode. Is this possible, developers?
I can't manage my repertoire, can't resign a game, can't play against chess engine. Some kind of error shows on boot up. All this after updating.
It is the best chess opening training tool. I find the interface not very friendly though. I hope after some time i get used.
Really excellent tool for building and learning an opening repertoire. There are still some bugs, and it doesn't always play well with imported files, but it still might be the best Android app of its type so far. Chess Openings Trainer Pro is the closest, but this does more (e.g. multiple possible repertoire moves) and the interface is better.
