I really liked this app, it's one of the very few apps that I have purchased. However, the latest version doesn't work without the Play Store app, and I have Play Store disabled on my phone most of the time. As a result, the latest version crashes on my phone right after the start which makes it pretty useless to me. Shame. 😔😔

Great for teaching and self learning! Wide array of scenarios. I have been using this only for a week, but the daily exercises have taught me moves I've never seen.

Wonderful training tool. The puzzles range from simple to complex. It's a great way to improve your game - and it beats the hell out of wasting your time on Candy Crush. 😎

Good quality puzzles (3 levrls - easy, medium & hard). The puzzles given are neither roo easy nor too hard.

To preface, i am not great at chess, so i cant speak about the higher difficulty puzzles. This is the best chess puzzle/tactic app i have come across. You get set up with a bunch of great puzzles (300), and theres no ads. To get more puzzles, you dont have to sign up for a subscription or anything, its just 2 bucks and you get like 400 puzzles. Simple, straight forward UI and no-nonsense design in every aspect, no ads (i dont think) and no distractions, just chess. Great app, highly reccomend.

So far it starts fast, the puzzles are decently organized into three difficulties, they seem to be sourced from real games, or atleast aren't too contrived, they are chosen well for learning (not always fancy sacrifices), and generally things work good. EDIT:I found out there's an easy engine analysis button too, that's awesome. It's a little annoying that if you make the "right" move you can't choose your opponents move. :)

Hi, i really like this game and bought all the puzzles as it is great because of the simple design and without stress of timer or rating. But I wish a little feature which would improve the experience, I would like to see my bookmarked puzzles in the list of puzzles of each bundle. Maybe with a star or another color.

It's good and it helps but the levels of difficulty carry from day to day.

It has 3 levels of difficulty, easy, medium and hard. I've learned a lot from using this app.

Overall, pretty good. The easy ones are usually quite easy (for me) and the hard ones are usually at least a little challenging, although that is a bit uneven. When the puzzle is said to be a "mate in X moves" I frequently find that it takes fewer moves. And that is accounting for useless piece sacrifices that are only delaying the inevitable. I would learn more if I could try alternative moves by the opponent when I make the "right" move. I wanted to complete this, but I am out of space.

It provides different levels of puzzles (Easy, Medium, and Hard) and will even give you daily puzzles to work on. Some of the puzzles are to checkmate in a certain number of moves or find the best available move. Overall, the puzzles are helpful, but frequently there will be a puzzle that is not accurate. For example, one puzzle said "White mates in 4," but the game failed to realize the opponent's rook could easily take my Queen, which would thwart the checkmate.

Best chess puzzle app I have ever played. Puzzles are of varying difficulties, there are daily puzzles as well as 300 extras, and flexible options. I like that you have to come up with the right move at each step instead of just the right first move, and also it allows you to manually play through moves further after the puzzle is solved. Plus there are hints, and an AI to analyze moves.

Some puzzles are really bad, they expect you to make a really long combination of moves in which you sacrifice lots of material to get a really exotic mate and some puzzles include really dumb moves from the opponent, making them basically impossible to understand because it just doesn't make sense. All in all, a good app if you want some puzzles to pass the time but not a way to really improve your game.

I love this app - nice puzzles and I'm happy you update regularly. The interface and board are a bit old fashioned but it is still a great app. Sometimes the titles don't match the actual puzzle. Mate in 3 - and it turns out to be something else. Occasionally the computer also disagrees with the puzzle solution. Otherwise - super! Thank you!

Some puzzles are outright incorrect (a mate-in-3 isn't really a forced mate, as the app's built-in engine shows itself). Others stop too early - it's ridiculous to consider a mate-in-eight problem "solved" only after finding the correct first move. Also the responses often aren't the best defence. And in the Progress mode, if you fail a puzzle, you're taken right to the next one, you can't check, nor keep on trying to work out what the solution was. Utterly pointless.

Very awesome app, the puzzles are nice, one thing that I don't like is that in every puzzle you do basically 2 things: or check the king or take an obvious advantage or try to push away the queen. Even chess noobs like me can easily guess what they should do, so the concept of the puzzle kinda doesn't exist. The white/black mates in (number) makes it worse. Still I think it deserves 5 stars cause the app has some very nice features that save the situation.

I got this app to learn to think more turns in advance and see moves from a different perspective. This app is not good for that. The instructions for the puzzles vary between 2 options: "B/W mates in X turns" or "find the best move". The "mates in X turns" aren't horrible, but in either situation I found that the puzzles are poor for training a player to think through what their opponent would do when they make a move. The computer often makes illogical moves that no sane player would.

The dailies are a fun way to pass some time. Though it is not necessarily meaningful in the scope of the app, sometimes I like to guess at what the previous few moves were before the current setup in each puzzle. Overall, this is an excellent app that helps one learn to "see and create" to achieve advantage or victory in various scenarios.

I wish that there were more reviews talking about how trash some of the moves the computer makes. It's not a puzzle solution if it requires your opponent to hang a random piece after your first move. Some puzzles are helpful and help improve the game. Others offer horrible solutions that are incredibly long and others where the computer blunders for no reason.

really enjoy the puzzles. ive noticed a significant increase in my skill in chess after regular use of this app. i really enjoy the feature where u can let the computer play and see why certain scenarios dont work out or if they do work out but prolong the game. there is only pop up adds which are at the bottom of the screen so they dont really hurt anyone.

It's really good. No ads at all. Good Puzzles.

Pat. K. Apr 28, 2022

So many puzzles, you can customize look and feel of the board

Ada. M. Apr 28, 2022

Great tool for getting better at the game, and thinking more strategically

Hak. M. Oct 29, 2020

This is an excellent guide to understand chess moves and strategy. There are easy, intermediate, and hard puzzles depending on tactical complexity. Daily puzzles (notifications are optional) keep me motiv8ed to train my strategic chess skills. Ads are minimal at the bottom. Thank you very much for this great app! :)

Noo. Apr 20, 2022

Exactly what it says it is. I also noticed there are next to no ads, so, thanks!

10/10 love it. It can be offline, it has easy, medium, and hard tactics for chess players, daily recommended puzzles, has an engine to justify why those are the best moves, and a randomize puzzles feature. Basically anything a 900-1600 elo player would want(might be bias because im low rated and dont know if it is useful for 2000 elo), the only thing I dislike is, that it does not have much easier tactics like back rank and that moves are harder to spot because the board is a bit clustered. 5/5
