Chessboard: Offline 2-player free Chess App
With the Chessboard app you can:
-- play chess with a friend
-- play with a chess clock (which can be paused)
-- create a custom setup to a game
-- save an unlimited amount of games
-- export games in PGN format
Chessboard is meant to be played with two players. It's a free two player chess game app, but can also be used on your own to play yourself and train yourself. You can save chess openings to train on them later. That way, you'll be prepared for the next 2 player game, on our free app or anywhere else.
After you've saved a game you can export it in PGN format, so that it can be read by any chess software out there, since PGN is widely regarded as the standard for chess software. Play games, save games share games!
In short: Chessboard is the virtual chess board for you! So invite your friend over and start playing! Play chess with this local multiplayer app!

Good in many respects, but unfortunately doesn't work for my use case. I need a virtual chessboard to play out moves from books for learning chess. This either has a view where Black pieces are upside-down, or one where the board jumps back and forth between White & Black, both of which look completely weird for my purpose. BADLY NEEDS AN OPTION FOR A STANDARD CHESS BOARD VIEW!
Good substitute if you don't have a real board with chessmen. I like it with the clocks and time settings. I tried it on my smartphone and it worked well. However, when I tried to install on my tablet I got this message: Not optimized for this device. So I have to downgrade to 4 stars and won't buy the premium version. A pity.
Great app exactly what i was looking for but maybe it needs a few tweaks like automatically turning the pieces to the person who's moving and other stuff but good app just a few more features and it might be reaching its peak performance
Good app, easy to play, tells you when in check and checkmate and you can add timers on your game too. Sit either end of the phone and have fun, basically. One way to improve, would be to make it a 3d one. 👍
Thankyou. The only app I found with the correct orientation for the pieces on the board. If you're looking for a chess to play with someone together, especially on a large screen device like a Tablet, this is it.
We just moved and forgot our only chess set and I'm obsessed with the game. This app saved us as I almost couldn't bear to wait to bring the old board to the new house. The app itself is intuitive, fun, and, a nice, simple asthetic. 10/10 do recommend.
the game is almost perfect for starters you can play chess anywhere you want and it has options to show moves for beginers and an option not to for advanced players it has an option to play anone for the #foreveralone and 2 players who want to play but i think it should have an option to face a computer though
This app is best if you are learning chess from a book, you can easily performe the situation written in the book and also it is useful when you're playing with someone else . I liked the features it offers and you can easily get it through the stars I have given it👌👌😀.
This app is great. It's for people to play against each other, rather that against the computer. My grandkids are catching on quickly, thanks to the way the app will show legal moves. Haven't yet tried castling or pawn captures en passant, but will show them those things soon (if the app supports them). Good job on the app. Thanks.
This is worst app i ever seen for chess. its not allowed to close adds and continue poping up on screen. its terrible. atleast provide close button to close advertisement.
The ONLY major problem I have with this app, is that it crashes when I try to export a PGN file. But other than that, this is the PERFECT local PvP Chess app! You can either play a normal game of Chess, or spice things up with the custom setting. Whether you want to setup for a sticky situation, or just fill the ENTIRE board with pieces, this is the perfect app for playing Chess against a friend.
Works great as a chessboard substitute. Would give 5 stars if there was an option to turn off the board flipping between moves in single player. Everything else is great
Good app for offline play with a friend, and also for following notations of GM games, its such a shame that the "Castling Move" doesn't work for some reason, have given 5 stars regardless but if this bug could be fixed it then it really would be great
This would have been the perfect offline board if 3d view was one of the option. Anyway overall its great!
Great substitute for a real board. And in many ways better! The custom set up feature is very helpful for playing through chess books.
While it's a nice app it gets a bug sometimes with pieces that stay enlarged even when closing the app. Requires a full restart of the phone to remove this issue.
Sensational. A brilliant app. It could use some different themes, a computer and maybe an engine with analysis. Great game
Why is there not a white square to the bottom right? This switches the king's side of the board with the queen's and makes it very hard to play remotely with someone that has a standard board as kings and queens sides are swapped.
Really good for study from books and articles. Opens up past resources that might not be as interactive as modern ones.
Exactly what we were looking for .In the absence of a physical chessboard, this comes close to a real board. Can be played offline so no hassle about ads. A simple two player game.
If you want to play offline with your friends, its perfect. No interruptions, coins or ads.
User interface is terrible, can't even move the chess pieces where I want them to be at all. Tried it with 3 other friends so I know it's not me, just a garbage app. I can't chess under these conditions. :(
the pieces don't drop down onto the squares properly when you move them, this is the most basic requirement for 2 player human chess, which is what I wanted, waste of time :o(
Great for game study on the run. When I don't have my full size board traveling and would like to study a game... Great to play through on this app.
ok, just what i wanted a 2 player chess board, though sometimes it would be nice to see the reason why a move is not allowed.
the good here was mediocre but the service was great. wouldn't recommend the nachos they were a little too spicy for me unless you like that.
Exactly what I was looking for. 2 Players. Single board, face to face. Save. Export. Nice visually. Can change angle of view of the men. Thank you. One idea ... Overhead view of pieces and pawns, like coins or symbols so they look the same from either white or black side of the board. Thank you for the excellent product.
