Making pieces is really cool, but for some reason you can't specify the movement distance to the number 6! It seems very strange, especially since there are pieces that can jump extremely far. The number 6 makes for a more sensible last number for denoting slide distance because it still fits inside a standard chess board. Unlike 20.
I love this game , even gave the creator the $3.99 as a token of my appreciation ❤. The only critique I have is that when you go to identify board or identify piece, I think I would be incredibly helpful to show an illustration of how the pieces actually move because on a board with like 6 different piece types , it's hard to keep all of the descriptions in your head. Other than that, great game. It is a labor of love and I highly recommend it to any chess player. Thank you chess craft
A solid simulator, with lots of variations on traditional chess to help teach strategy. Replays aren't the easiest to access, and there's no transcription of the moves, but the ease of use makes up for that, for me, at least.
This game is AWESOME! I can make custom pieces. That is dope. But if you could add the ability to import custom peice skins that would be great. Also a bigger board for customization. Other than those 2 things, the game is AWESOME
I REALLY like this app because I was able to mask a chess variant I like playing. But the AI is stuck on level 1 when playing me versus a computer! Help! Will upgrade to 5 stars if this can be fixed.
This is probably the most entertaining chess game anyone could ever play, there's so much to do here! However, it's not yet possible to have a perfect game of Shogi or Checkers yet, and I'm hoping official support for the move types that will make these variants possible inside this game will be added. Also, the hardest difficulty AIs very commonly stalemate against each-other, and there should be some randomness to prevent this.
Nice app. Only I've noticed that tiles are elongated and not perfectly square. Could you please fix that in future updates? Also it would be nice if there was a win square feature, meaning that if a royal piece lands on that square, that's a win. I'd like to create variants where if a royal piece lands on a special square(s) that's a win, like King of the hill for example. Also I would appreciate a bigger piece image selection in the future, and capturing the royal piece to win.
I have rediscoved my love for Chess! This is one of the best Mobile games I have ever got. You dont need Internet to play. No annoying Ads. And besides classic chess there is a "campaign" with chess inspired puzzles. 5 Stars!
Nah, the people who say there is too many draws are right and no dev, it's not a stale mate cause my 2 queens and knights and even my damn pawn were all positioned for a checkmate. And then there is a match with the anchors, that was so unfair. How am I going to stalemate when the AI only has it's king and a pawn, and I have my army of knights surrounding him? Don't get me wrong, I love the concept and the uniqueness of the game and it's concept, it's exactly what I was looking for. But damn.
Havent spent much time using this app but I can say if you are trying to play actual chess find another app. The engine on its hardest setting is trash. Like, played the crab opening trash...
Very good. Simple but adventure map and creating pieces with multiple boards is a great change up. Good job on this one.
Chess craft is a remarkable idea with semi good execution, the only thing that was very frustrating to me was how a lot of check mates ended the game as "no legal moves possible" wich the game counts as a draw, therefore not allowing me to progress after a win
Could use some GUI redesign, and maybe a bit more customizability. For what I've heard is a solo project, this is pretty great.
Has a wide selection of interesting variants. I'm not a huge fan of regular chess, but I keep playing this. I agree with the review calling stalemates frustrating, but there's not much to be done with that since it's a rule of the standard game for a reason. Maybe adventure mode can give a minor award (since a tournament would give a half point), or there was an option to warn you before you caused a draw, especially due to repetition (since it's easier to have happen on the smaller boards).
Great game. So far I've only played adventure, but it's pretty fun already. There are a few typos in some of the descriptions, but the reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of 2 things. First, I believe there is a wrong piece in front of the black tree in neebling (doe not lion). Second, I was trying to get the 2 seconds per turn badge and realized that it's basically impossible for levels 3 and 4 because they take a while to make a move and the timer seems to count their time.
(edited for clarity) The second level of difficulty in adventure mode is too difficult compared to the first level. This cuts the adventure portion of the game really short, as only the first two regions are playable after you beat all the first level games. That being said, it is addictive and I keep going back to it even though I know I'll probably get mated by a pawn again.
This is a very well designed and engaging sandbox, and I'm surprised at how well the computer handles such bizarre pieces. I do think it'd be nice to be able to play this with friends online, or have more options to customize pieces, but within the bounds of a free to play game without ads this is an amazing game. I do think the controls are in need of work, as double tapping a piece deselects it, which can be frustrating on larger boards where you just want to move a piece one space forward.
Seems off at first, but the adventure mode is honestly fun! All of the custom boards and pieces start to feel less like a subpar chess game to a unique new experience! It obviously needs two things; more audio-visual polish & a better tutorial for the board creation tool. I still haven't been able to make a custom board because I can't figure out how! That said, this game has promise and I'm going to enjoy watching it develop into something beautiful and refined. Oh, be sure to know chess 1st.
I downloaded this app and had fun with it don't get me but many of the board it's impossible to win if the computer plays right. Some times you just have to wait for it to make a mistake and when it does if you carlesly make a move especially with the non classical pieces your not familiar with the function of you might have to play through the board 10 times more before you can win against it. It is fun but the strategy is often impaired because of this aspect. Over all it's a good app
Brilliant idea and well made. It works for any scenario you can imagine. The adventure mode is very well made, although a few of the scenarios are not too well thought through. The recent update made the AI faster, but it also made it much easier. 3 stars used to be a challenge, but now it seems to not be able to handle many of the fairy pieces and simply sacrifice them away for no gain. A bit annoying, but on the other hand, the new AI is much faster and much less resource intensive.
Very fun and addictive! A great way of playing chess in strange ways and coming up with fairy chess pieces. I can't stop playing! Though I wish there were some more options in the editor... For example, it only lets you decide moves in a 7×7 grid centered on the piece, which is perfectly fine for any old piece, but for something like a Nightrider it makes it impossible to make. But all of those are just tiny details, none of them are actually big enough to warrant anything less than five stars.
Add some functionality to request draw. Even when victory is nearly impossible, the AI will keep trying to play. Even when it's one turn from a repitition draw. When playing higher difficulties this is annoying because the computer takes a long time to think about the next move. Also trying to force me to write a review instead of just asking will always lose at least one star. Credit where it's due, there aren't any ads and it is a unique game. Overall I recommend it.
Great app, I got it last night and it's already one of my favorites. Just some ideas I thought of: adding inverted pictures for all of the standard chess pieces. A "if this piece can capture this turn it must" rule and a variant where you can choose not to capture but sacrifice the piece (inspired by checkers). And a board rule where if you if you click on a piece (outside of "?" mode) you must move it. Please keep up the good work!
