Dark Knight , by darktemplar824, is an open-source GPLv3 Honeycomb-optimized fork of the Droidfish chess engine, an Android interface to the stockfish chess engine.
Droidfish is developed by Peter Österlund at http://web.comhem.se/petero2home/droidfish/ as a similar application to Dark Knight for Android phones. It is also licensed under the GPLv3.
Stockfish is an open source chess engine, developed by Tord Romstad, Joona Kiiski and Marco Costalba and licensed under the GNU General Public License version 3. The program originated from another open source program by Romstad named Glaurung.

Hints
* In game mode, long press chess board to activate copy/paste menu.
* In edit board mode, long press chess board to activate edit menu.
* Scroll left/right on the chess board to undo/redo moves.
* If the game contains multiple variations, scroll up/down on the chess board to go to the previous/next variation.
AnalysisChessTastic can analyze games to find better alternatives to moves. By using hints described above, players can optimize strategies and use the computer to improve their play. Analysis can be activated in Settings.
Opening bookChessTastic contains a small internal opening book. If you want to use a larger book, you can configure ChessTastic to use a polyglot book file:1. Create a directory called ChessTastic on the SD card folder.2. Copy one or more polyglot book files to the ChessTastic directory.3. From the program menu, activate the Select opening book function.4. Select the opening book file you want to use.
PGN filesChessTastic can load games from PGN files. To use this feature:1. Create a directory called ChessTastic/pgn on the SD card folder.2. Copy one or more PGN files to the ChessTastic/pgn directory.3. Long press the chess board and select Load game from PGN file.4. Select the file, then the game within the file you want to load.

Had to have ChessTastic for all my devices!
Chess board colour , piece style are not so good...Stockfish 8 and Komodo 10 ,these two chess engines need to be added to analyze the games....option need to share the games with other apps ... opening book names with variation should also be noted in the movelist area..
Really nice material design chess app. I'd bump my score to to a 5/5 if the dev allowed the option to change the color scheme to something a little more muted... The current colors are a bit hard on the eyes. Gray is alright though.
You need to keep updating this game. Add more features, like PvP or online
In the next update can you make 1 of the features that it can ponder and all so that you can put other chess engines in to it
I've been looking for a chess app that also doesn't look like it's from the medieval period for ages and I've finally found this. Looks great, nice set of features enough for a beginner like me. Great work.
I just love the material design, my only problem is that when I play two player whoever faces the other side gets a headache since the board is opposite to them.
The options and features are good just the appearance of board and pieces so bad!
it's not that good it should change it's graphic design
Colours are too bright..plz add some light ones.Its so hard to look at board for more than 20min.Add some transitions even.The pieces are jumping directly to square.

Superb App With My Fav. Light & Orange Chess Board. Excellent Features Specially Stick 'Flip'. Chess Pieces Should Be Alfa Or Small Alfa. Sound Can Be Better With 'Click' Or 'Khatak'. Also Not Finding 'Save Match In PGN Format' Feature. Rest Is Out Of The World. I Wish Nothing But The Best For You. Good Luck !!!

It lags horribly bad. I can't even move a piece. I'll tap on the piece and the square doesn't highlight. When it does, it does so almost 10 seconds after the fact.
It's about time we had a great looking chess app like this
There are some annoying bugs, some windows won't open like the window for choosing game modes other than that there's nothing to complain about
Very cool game
Best open-source chess game as far as I know! Too bad the game is made for an old Android version. Also, a GitHub issue states that the chess engine is out of date as well. However, I'm still enjoying it.
