It's a free app. I've learnt how to play with the app guiding the way. I can read Chinese so that helps but if you can't, memorise the characters, look at them as if they were pictures. If you can't complete the puzzles the answers are on youtube, which was a relief. Overall, fantastic introduction to learn the game and play the game multiple ways. 5 stars and much appreciation.
Works quite well. Remembers your game state if you close the app so you can put it away and come back to it later. Allows multiple, perhaps unlimited, takeback of moves making it quite helpful for learning the game. Ads are unobtrusive. Clearly shows legal moves for each piece when you click on it. Great app!
I try right away against pretty girl, gentleman, master, grand master and I beat them all 4 right the first time. Genius guy later then... So I play more, so far 30 matches, I win all. On puzzles, I solve all sets all levels, so about 100 sets. Even the grandmaster level final set, chapter 4, set 25, the machine plays one weak move and loses to me. I try 5 better moves it should play, and in all, it seems, I should still lose in the end by one active pawn. Perhaps it's not yet grandmaster.
The controls and graphics are good. This app doesn't really teach you how to play though but there are puzzles and single player modes with undo button to practice. As of right now, I losing even on the easier mode.
It revived an old tradition of playing chess with my grandfather. It shows available moves for those who cant recall what the symbols are. Because of this, he was willing to play full matches. It also improved my aptitude for European chess. The change in dynamic of play really declunks the brain having been used to the other form. Times your decisions too
I was recently introduced to Chinese Chess and downloaded this app a few weeks ago. It really helped me to appreciate some of the subtilities of this amazing game and I kind of got addicted to the puzzle mode. However, I can't move any of my pieces on the puzzle 13 of chapter 4 (no possible move, only red crosses) : am I missing something or is that a bug ? If so, please fix it. Other than that, the app is really enjoyable :)
it has pictures instead of Chinese letters so i understood what are the pieces instantly. then there is motion line guide for each piece that was very helpful. in 2 fast games i learned the basics without tutorial and i never played this game before.. couldn't win on easy level though ..
It's a good game or should i say app. But a think it would be helpful if there is a menu where you can view the moves of each piece or a tutorial mode so a begineer like me would learn easily but overall it's a good app that teach me some basic rules
As you may know, there are not many XiangQi applications out there, and that does not necessarily mean that those few apps are good. At least that's what I thought, as XiangQi is not really famous, few developpers must have been willing to create a complete Chinese Chess app. But this app proved me wrong, it is really well made and can be really useful to both beginners and veterans. Of course there are still some things that maybe need to be fixed, but it deserve a minimum of 4 stars for me.
The gameplay is great, but there is one thing. The Back button always ruins my game when i accidentally touch it. I use a wide screen phone, and sometimes i accidentally touch it. Please fix it
Long catch rule is not implemented. AI breaks this rule by keep chasing same piece between 2 spots, making game impossible to progress.
Tried my hand against pretty girl. Got handed down pretty harsh. A good difficulty scale for this game I guess. Looking forward to improve my skill
Good strategy game. Will play often and could change the rating depends on the apps performance. Right now it is good.
I like how they provide a puzzle mode, some free basic skin to change and also allow us to have a 2 player offline mode.
I enjoyed the game so far. Just a few suggestions to enhance game experience: Option to "Confirm move" Overall win/loss record Be able to "Resign" or suggest "Draw" Thanks for listening.
An unsolvable puzzle game is a bad game.(ie. puzzle level 30 in beginner level) And the game didn't provide the solutions. (Then I guess the developers of this game didn't sure whether the puzzle is solvable or not.)
Please, show the captured pieces for each side. Also, the happy kid keeps tearing me apart mercilessly and flawlessly. Please, add an actually easy AI opponent.
The game is great except the "easy bot" is the farthest from easy. I'm 16, and fairly good at normal chess. So if a bot is called "happy kid" I feel like I should win at least once. But no, the "happy kid" is a master at the game. I have played ~15 matches and I have won exactly 0.
I love it, helps me think, but is it just me or puzzle 30 beginner level is not solvable? Can someone explain. Never mind, found the solution lol would of never thought!
Ads pop-ups have sounds that are always enabled which is annoying. Other games allow user disabling sounds once then they remain muted permanently.
Great app, various some and levels and puzzles, and solo or multiplayer options, but a little too persistent and premature when asking for a ratings
I like that they show you how to move each piece. But it could use a tutorial for complete beginners.
There are always ads with ladies pop out during every games. We are chess player, we do not need this kind of ads. Come on!
Simple and fun. The different skill levels make it easy for you to challenge yourself. I wish there was a way to play others online...
Works great on my 5 years old android. One of those rare free games that dont bombard users with unskipable ads every 2 minutes.
It were a pretty good Xiangqi app with undo function and highlighting legal moves, but unfortunately it always crashes at some point in the game.
Fun game. It's good if you're a beginner because it shows you which moves the pieces can make.
Nice Chinese chess game, but the Chinese translation in the user interface is ridiculously terrible that it's certainly never proofread by anybody who knows basic Chinese. For example, in both simple and traditional Chinese versions, it mis-translates Auto (Automatic) as "Automobile" (car); players as "ball players"; review rating as "velocity or speed of motion", etc., just to name a few. Such irresponsible below-par translation has discouraged me from getting the paid version as I am not interested in cars or any ball games and I cannot submit a velocity or speed to the game.
