It's a good app but very limited. We need to be able to create a list of words or select words from the training session two or three at a time to go over separately. It's a very limited app right now.

If errors would affect future tests I would rate 5 stars

Great app. A good addition will be the option to have a hint out clue when you have doubts. It could pronounce all the options presented in the screen so you can compare with the answer. This will help to understand the differences among the options.

Great for helping differentiate tones! I looked how focused this app is on that one feature and no more.

I have a hard time distinguishing tones, and between z,zh,j,ch, c,s,q, and x. I think this app has improved that

It is missing the initial 'Z' That could be a regional thing. Some regions mix up 'zh' and 'z'. The game goes forever and you feel little sense of accomplishment, until you hit review. It needs to have clear sections. It only has one native woman pronouncing the words, and often she is not clear. It would be a nice feature to know what possible words are associated with the two word phrase after you answer.-that way you learn words too.

The female voice in testing does not emphasize the tones. They are slurred and become confusing. There us no ability to set a learning curve. Avoid.

Very easy to understand and use. More for ear training than learning to read or write pinyin. 1 more star if app2sd. Great on ipod too.

Unlike what other reviewers have said, I like the fact that it is difficult to hear what tone the speaker is using. It is good training. It is legit because my Chinese fiancé gets the tones right every time.

Tones are not easy to distinguish, as in real life. Makes for great learning tool.

At the pair test sometimes the audio files or possible answers are wrong (due to the App). When fixed 5 stars. Otherwise a good to train tone recognition
