Chinese Writer Free

This app is fabulous. If you're looking to strengthen your knowledge of characters it makes practicing fun and gives immediate feedback for errors. Consistent practice is so important and I've now used this for 8 consecutive days without needing to motivate myself. I read Chinese at a fourth grade level but this app is really helping me with writing and being more exact with how I look at the characters. Glad it is available without a subscription. Would ❤️ to write short sentences in the app.

I would give this app 5 stars if it didn't randomly minimize, on occasion. Also, there have been times when characters will stop falling, and the only way i can get them to start again, is if I pause and unpause the game. I had one occasion where I kept swiping and nothing happened. Otherwise, the game looks great and it a lot of fun. I'm not sure any other app makes it so easy to practice writing hanzi.

Can't recommend as the app consistently saves some characters for later rounds of the game. I just played the same character set four times and was forced to write some characters half a dozen times while others appeared only once in later rounds when I had only 3 seconds to learn how to write them. Other than that, I do think it's an engaging way to learn.

5 stars because this is an amazing utility for improving your speed for writing Chinese. -1 star because at the outset of each trial, the definition of the word is scrolling versus just static at top or bottom of the screen. Due to the scrolling, you can't learn the meaning of the words your writing unless you write less quickly... And if you write less quickly, you lose. So the learning experience is thereby negated slightly.

A great app for beginners to learn to read and write Chinese characters. I've been amazed at how much "writing" them with my finger using this app has helped me memorize and learn a few hundred characters already. The pronunciation given with each one further helps reinforce the learning. This app makes learning a lot more fun than staring at a book and trying to memorize letters and words. The price for unlocking the other letter/word packs is also very reasonable. Give it a try!

Trainchinese, this is a useful app. I have some requests that would make it even more useful for learning characters. 1. Please don't scroll the pinyin and definitions, especially in practice. 2. When pausing the game, please don't cover the pinyin and definitions with the tips message box (I want to pause so that I can look at those!). 3. Please permit user to turn off music and sound effects, yet still play the pronunciation. 4. Please don't darken the screen during practice. I can see how that might enhance the excitement of the game but it's detrimental during practice. If the paid version already does these things, I will purchase; if not, I will just use the free version.

Great app, love it, it's exactly what I need. However, here's some feedback/requests: 1. I'd like to be able to stop the hen kuai/feichang kuai prompt after every character wiyhout having to mute the whole app. I really want to hear the pronunciation, but the prompt gets really annoying. 2. I'd like to be able to practice whole words in the hsk series, not just characters.

Absolutely love using this app to practice Chinese. The information and varying difficulty of the game (tracing, seeing the character and writing, and writing from memory) have been incredibly helpful for my way of learning and practicing Chinese, so I upgraded to the full character set. Now I use this as my go-to reference as I learn new characters (creating custom packs based on my level of confidence with the characters, etc.). Super helpful and would definitely recommend!!!

This is an excellent app, absolutely love it and use it every day but please can you put audio on the example sentences for each character. Even with pinyin, some letters don't sound like you think they would and it's easy to learn wrongly. Your online dictionary is exceptional too. Highly recommend using both the app and the dictionary.

Great app and is very helpful to supplement my other lessons. Wish there was an accuracy training for writing as well.

This is quite a nice app to play around with if you're already learning to write Chinese characters and can even be played by someone who isn't learning Chinese. But I'm not sure how useful it is as a learning aid. I don't if you have to manually select each pack to work through all characters you started to learn or it will play through them all and always show weak hanzi no matter which pack selected. At what point does the app consider you to have learned a character.

I have tried several writing apps by now, this one being by far the best. Some people find learning Chinese characters interesting, but for me it is super boring to be honest. This app makes studying those finally bearable. I can remember more characters in less time, since playing the review games makes me feel a bit competitive. Maybe cool to add: Test option for each complete HSK level? Not just section. Quick random review after learning all of them would be easier.

Fantastic for practicing characters. It's very useful to build custom character lists based on the program your using to learn Chinese as it really reenforces what you've already encountered. Only technical issue i have is my daily streak randomly disappearing.

I love that you can switch between simplified and traditional characters. You can also trace characters or free write them. Easy and fun to use. I like to go to the characters after the game to look at their definition and structure break down. A great tool for keeping up your vocab/writing.

It's cool, but I won't buy it. I would prefer it if I could tweak the study options, for example, getting the meaning and I have to write the corresponding character or viceversa. Also. I would love if I could remove the "game" and time limit and just focus on the study itself. Just show me the meaning and I write the character. It's a nice app. But not good enough for me to buy anything in it. If they had something of the above I would gladly buy it.

the game has changed a lot from what i previously experienced and i like it ... though i do miss the speed of the characters dropping or raining down, the extra learning of the character pronunciation was a nice addition

I love it !!! I strength my Chinese vocabulary and writing a little bit every day and when I meet my tutors, they are impressed by my knowledge, and we can go further in the topic. This apps helps a lot ! Thank you soo much

This app has helped me a lot with learning and the update looks great but I really miss the option to turn off tracing while practicing. I almost never "played" in the old version and prefer practice mode. It would be great if this feature came back. Edit: the feature got added back, 5-stars

Good app to train character writing and memory. One improvement suggestion. I have it set to traditional character set. It would be nice if the simplifed version would also be displayed where applicable. Just to know there is one and how it looks.

Overall very fun and educational game. But when you play it after finishing 2 or 3 words, it pauses for like 2 minutes. Can you gt rid of the pause? It's kinda boring cause you have to wait for the nest one for a few minutes.

Awesome app! You have to get the premium version to upgrade it, but honestly the free version alone is already great. It's very informative and has helped me a lot with practicing writing characters.
