In theory, this app would be nice for geocachers who do not own a Garmin device, but there is absolutely no information on what smartphone models are supported, so you have to install three apps just to find out that it doesn't work on your phone.
I was trying to see what this app was about, if I liked it I would use it. I needed to dnld another app, and then gave me an error message I didnt understand. Something about the hadeware of sensors to detect...?? If you can get it to work G7's, Galaxay's... Would be cool...
I'd give no stars if I could. Waste of data for the download. Kept force closing, and i had a strong signal.
Kept crashing and did not work. Downloaded Chirp Wolf instead and it worked quickly and beautifully!
Does not work with Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G.
Crashes when it finds a chirp.
Doesn't work on Note 10.
Doesn't work with Samsung Galaxy A20
Not compatible with galaxy s21
Did not work for me sitting 1 meter away from a known chirp
An excellent app, just discovered today. This worked straight away on my Samsung S8. We have some Chirp caches, and was always concerned how unfair they were for non Garmin users. That concern goes away now!
Maybe the coordinate format should match the format used in Geocaching. Would give it 5 stars if this was worked in. As well as a way to delete chirp information once used.
Tested this app on one chirp enabled cache and it worked as expected. Had my Garmin Montana 650 also searching. Only this app received the chirp information. Like Geo Wyrm said, the ability to delete the old information is needed. Suggested features: * save/backup the chirp information * share it with others, * even send the coordinates to a compass app
The "Chirp" app worked just fine. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 phone from Verizon. The ANT+ capability is included in this particular phone. I was able to find my first Chirp geocache with this app. It gathered the final coordinates, cache name and hint.
It's a completely no-frills app. There's not even a way to copy the coordinates to the clipboard. Makes you wonder if the author understands how this would be used in the field.
Very useful tool. Chirp is working pretty well :) thanks (used for geocaching chirp cache)
Works OK but need a way to copy coordinates to clipboard so it can be used in Geocaching app.
It couldn't find a geocache where as the Ant+ plug in sampler did. Waste of time sadly.
This app worked great on 12/18/2019 but when I tried to use it on 12/28/2019, it informed me that it was now outdated relative to my android phone (Samsung S10). I was still able to read the Garmin Chirp using my old Garmin GPS the next day. Sent an email to the developer but haven't heard back from them yet. Update: 3/24/2020: Received a nice note from the Wout Louwers, the Chirp App developer, regarding the latest update today. I just tested it on my chirp geocache, and it now works great! 🤗
