As some people have already mentioned it's very irritating having to restart an entire book just because you made one mistake, having to redo all of my choices, remember what they were and hope that I don't accidentally press the wrong choice is just very time consuming and just overall annoying to deal with because of how repetitive it becomes.Creating a save option would be great as it would allow players to more comfortably replay stories without having to go through the same repetitive cycle
Absolutely love this games Some books are so detailed that you can imagine every single situation in your mind great and interesting characters in almost every single book. The app itself is pretty amazing too but sometimes it doesn't announce new games until you check but that's not a problem considering I check for new games every day
Thankfully we have a store now for all the different COG titles, without the clutter of other games! This is really helpful for finding new titles, and you can try the first few chapters of any paid game unlike on the Play store. Unfortunately games I bought through this app were not added to my choice of games account. I also couldn't get it to work with adding games i bought through the play store to this app.
I'm mad! I bought an ad remover thinking it will remove ads off of the app. NO! It only removed ads off of ONE story! All the other stories still have ads! I spent 5.99 on Choices of Vampires and now I gotta spend more for EACH AND EVERY STORY!
As the last 4 games, this novel of choices is far more fun than the usual games where you must make instant decisions or shoot enemies and such. I highly recommend it!
Big thanks to the dev team for fixing my issue! Love these games Edit: Having to repurchase all my games because the "Restore Purchase" option does not work. Both this app and Hosted Games.
High quality stories at great prices, and their support teams are amazing! Can't recommend them enough.
Make sure to hit "search" and check out the free options! Choice of Kung Fu is a good full free game, for instance.
It is absolutely unacceptable that trying a free version of a new title automatically launches pop ups in my phone browser.
This is a review for a specific game in the app titled "Creatures such as we" and all I can say is. Wow. The story nearly brought me to tears by the end. The concept was amazing and the the characters were lovable. I'm glad I stumbled across this app just to get a chance to play that specific game! I certainly don't know if the other stories can top that one.
Ive been with your game company for about 4 years and love your games although I'm always cash poor but it's all in all a great app and I've loved it for years
The stories themselves are good, yet the restore purchase option has disappeared from the stories I bought
Beautifully written characters, clear plot, and multiple endings and choices.
I quite like the app, but for now I can't give more stars because of an annoying problem that started a day ago. After a minute or so of reading/playing, the (button to) the stats page disappears. It happens in every story/game. To get it back I have to force close the app on my phone and restart it. Doing this every 2 minutes while reading/playing is ruining much of my enjoyment.
Pretty good as-is, but it would be 100% better if it contained a complete, unified library of all the choice games currently available (particularly for people like me who have multiple choice games downloaded). Other than that, the only thing in my opinion that would make this app better other than a unified library would be the ability to build choice games directly from the app. It'd especially be cool for people like me who might not have a laptop. Hey, a person can dream.
The stories are detailed, well written, and it actually feels like your choices matter! Highly recommend, these are really really fun interactive narrative games! I do sometimes get frustrated that I can't go back after I make a decision, but on the flip side it encourages me to really commit to my choices (or replay the story to try other options). So, in the end I don't mind it.
This is a good delivery system for playing multiple choice of games games. The games themselves are excellent as a whole, and I really like being able to access them from within one app. I wish there was more support regarding integrating previously owned titles into your library, and that the app defaulted to go directly back to the title you were reading upon opening instead of the current overlay. I really like your entire platform though, and I'll be continuing to enjoy myself, so thanks.
The only downside here is that sometimes the tutorials are misleading, I've bought a few games that, by the tutorials, seemed fun. But after buying them, they ended up being boring or repetitive. But other than that, I adore most of the games I've gotten through Choice of Games!! I love the fact that so many authors on there allow diversity in gender, sexuality, presentation, ect!!!
I like this app but I always encounter issues. For example, none of my payments make it through. And sometimes there's an error which will prevent me from proceeding in a story, so I'll have to restart. I think these issues are minor but the stakes are high (given that achievements aren't saved to your account and you lose them in all your stories, along with the progress, if you uninstall the app). Otherwise, it's great, especially the books that you can read for free only here!
Edit: The bug did indeed get fixed soon! Currently nearly unusable for me as it seems the ads bounce me back to the title screen each time they change. I was able to confirm this by opening a game i already own and playing it with no trouble. I'm happy to buy games, but not before I've played a chapter or two first. Hopefully this bug gets fixed soon!
Importing purchased works now on all except for one book. It would still be nice to not have to have to restore them one at a time. It would also be nice not to need two apps to play both CoG and Hosted Games titles. I get that they are a separate label and that the commission works differently, but the way they handle purchases and saves is identical. Lastly, there should be a toggle to filter out purchased items while browsing. It makes restoring things more simple.
The best developer of choice stories for the most part. It's great to have the stories gathered in 1 app. EDIT/reply to Dev - I was unable to dowload the free previews you previously had on the Ply Store. You used to offer a free version that only had a small part of the story we could try before paying. I'm happy to pay for a story, but I liked getting the first bit for free to see if I wanted to buy the full story. I've been swamped & not sure if that has changed again. Thanks for responding!
Disappointing, to say the least. I love the stories, they're amazing, and the d&d-esque stats make the stories unique, and i always find myself checking them to see how I'm faring. I do have some complaints. The stories are a little pricey. A few of the stories are labelled free, and I got really excited, but found a few chapters in that you still need to pay. Just when I started getting invested in the story, too. Either fix the label or follow up; I'm losing interest.
I love CoG. There's so many interactive stories that offer countless hours of different endings and achievements and stats that it's hard to not put it down. I love to read and the interactive part makes it possible to read again and again just to see what endings you can achieve. There's a story for everyone! Genre, length of the story, etc. What adventure will you get lost in next?
For some reason, I couldn't purchase the games through this app—But that could be something to do with my card. The games are really so addicting! Most of the stories have an exceptionally high value of replayability to them; hence, major kudos to the authors for coming up with these intricate storylines!! It really feels like being a part of a story, especially with how customizable your own characters are and how your choices matter so much into concluding the outcome of the stories.
Great idea, but want to read offline. I like that it's one app. UI looks nice but clunky using. Thumbnails don't show up in searches for me, filtering titles needed. If books were downloaded in full when accessed/purchased, need to be online could be eliminated. As is I get "network error loading game data", not able to sign in at all, can't finish a book. CoG is amazing and one of my favorite app/game publishers, but I can't recommend this app in favor of the individual book apps. Fix for 5🌟
Some of the games are great and I still think about them weeks or months later. Prices feel a bit steep though as someone used to prices on PC and with all the giveaways. 5/5 The app itself however lacks a lot of features: no wishlist, games can be a pain to sort through, no option to sort the stories you bought besides heart/fav (I use fav as a wishlist mostly), can't go back on the rare occasions I make the wrong choice (because I misunderstood or choice wasn't excplicit enough, etc). 3.5/5
