Tremendous App for use with various Casio keyboard models. Many very useful features that make playing the piano much more enjoyable. From beginner to professional, this App will be of great help to all. I highly recommend this App.
This app doesn't work on the Moto Edge (2020 model). It doesn't even load. It's not a connection problem. The app crashes so fast on load that there is no opportunity to even make a connection let alone check the connection. My experience: touch the app icon to tell it to open, black screen comes up, wait for 10 seconds, sudden flash and black screen disappears, android home screen comes up, no more app. I don't know how much more clearly I can say: this app crashes in the process of loading.
Connects fine to my PX-S1000 after I bought the specific cables - it is utterly ridiculous these aren't included. It's not the most ergonomic or modern app but it does everything needed. However, if I don't touch my phone for a minute, the app stops responding. This makes it unusable for most tasks. The connectivity and compatibility issues with this app are embarrassing but Casio seem uninterested; presumably because it doesn't make them money. Piano is great but I won't buy from them again.
Great App! I can control my Casio CDP-S350 right from my phone. Also I can record my playing. Make use you have a USB-B cable or the app will connect to your keyboard.
Contacted the developers. They responded promptly. Turns out some tablets/phones have 1way midi (keyboard to tablet only) capability and others 2way. This app needs 2way midi to function. They have a list of devices on which it works. Unfortunately mine kingpad z10 was not on it.
Does what it says on the tin, and the only real issue is that they need to be clearer about how to connect to the device and what won't work. And really they could update to a more modern connection on the keyboard itself. I think a lot of the compatibility issues in the reviews might be because people are connecting their device to the USB-A port on the back of the keyboard, which is only for a USB drive connection and won't work for this. Unfortunately, the correct connection is unintuitive, because you already have a single cable with the right ends to hook it up the WRONG way. You MUST use an OTG adapter on your phone and use an old-fashioned USB A-to-B cable like you probably have used on a printer. You plug the OTG adapter into your phone, and then you hook the A end (the regular rectangular USB plug you're used to) up to the adapter, and the B end (the one that looks like a square with the corner cut) to the keyboard. This connection worked for me on both a Galaxy S8 and a Galaxy Tab A 2016, the latter of which is not even explicitly claimed to be compatible.
One of the reasons I bought Casio Privia PX-S1000 was the heavy advertising on the mobile app and all the extras that you get with it like tutorials and music sheets. Unfortunately not only does the app look very outdated it is only compatible with a handful of phones. It is not clearly stated on the Casio web page and I am very disappointed that my One Plus 7t is not supported even though it can connect to the piano via Bluetooth without any problems but won't do the same through the app.
I didn't think an app can be this bad! all the functions seem to work in my case, except in order to select the function, I got to press it a hundred times before it registers a touch and not a move. Every time I choose a setting, it thinks I'm trying to scroll. The user interface is just about the worst I've ever seen. Slow, laggy, annoying and borderline useless even though it works on my LG V50.
I'm upping this to 3, from 1, as I've stumbled upon a cheap tablet that will drive it. The Goodtel G3 works well. Massive compatibility issues. I can connect with an Android 8.1 phone, but not a tablet. In fact, I can't even install it on the tablet. I can't imagine what's on the manifest for this app for it to be excluded so randomly from different devices. It's really not much use on a 5" screen, and Casio, a top notch company, really needs to up it's game here. (PX-870)
I would give it zero stars if possible. I can connect the to my PX-S1000BK using the OTG to USB MIDI cable and it the cable works in other apps. However, this app will not work with the keyboard. The keyboard itself has highly complicated methods of changing settings, and in reviews of the keyboard, this was acknowledged, but since this app was the solution to the otherwise complicated controls, they keyboard was recommended anyway. This app will not allow modifications of settings and will not support even basic MIDI functions (when other unofficial apps for the keyboard work fine). As far as I am concerned, Casio lied about their app in the sales process. They better fix the app or I am recommending to everyone I know to avoid Casio keyboards. As of now, they have broken my trust. I will see if the care enough about their customers to fix it. They need to add the following: - Better instructions on physical connections. They require special cables but their app just says "Use commercially available cables." They should provide a link to their website where they would provide known working cables for various configurations. - Better connection instructions - If the device is not connecting, they should give clear troubleshooting advice in the app that is specifically related to android. It seems there are a lot of nice features (according to their description and videos) but Casio has failed at the fundamentals. They need to get these fixed, or their entire Privia line (which basically requires an app to change settings) is in jeopardy of being useless.
Works decently. There is slight lag that Casio should fix. DSP options should be included in the app. Used with Samsung tab s6 and px-s3000
The app works for controlling the piano, but the PDF viewer is almost unusable. The app forces the tablet display into landscape mode, and then displays a full page of notatio, which is too small to read. There is no setting to force it into portrait mode and it doesnt honor the tablet orientation.
This app is really underrated if you own a Casio with built-in library and are learning to play. The functionality is fantastic when connecting my Celviano (use the "printer-type" USB port on the Celviano w/an adapter on the other end, for your device!). Digital scores, a MIDI player to play and follow along, learn one hand at a time by having the piano play the other one, MIDI recorder, etc. If you own a Celviano, download and try the app and be sure to connect your device to the right port.
It seems outdated..? I really do not know, I have succeeded to connect my phone to the keyboard, and even played a few songs, but the piano remote control seems to not work with the Casio privia px-s1000, maybe I'm doing something wrong? If I manage to use the remote control this app is an easy five stars.
The app keeps on crashing everytime I want to load a previously recorded song. That was the only reason I installed the app for, so the issue makes it totally useless. This happens on both my Android devices (galaxy s20 and galaxy tab A). Furthermore the app is not responsive and icons are cut out/partially visible when on galaxy s20. Please fix it
After following the advice from Matt Jarvis' review on 27/12/19, I took the trouble to source the correct cables to connect my Galaxy Tab A to my new Casio PX870 and it works ! Yay ! The app is great and does exactly what its ment to do. It's really opened up the full potential of the piano, so easy to use, I love it.
Compatibility issues with multiple devices. I was able to get the app to work with one older Android phone, but it failed to recognize my Casio PX-S1000 on multiple other devices, including another Android tablet and several chromebooks running the Android app. These other devices worked with other MIDI applications. Issue seems to be that there is no way to select the connection to the keyboard from the app; other MIDI apps have a menu to choose the USB connected device.
App doesn't connect to keyboard. There are no tutorials or instructions in the manual or app.
Works like a charm with Redmi Note 5 Pro. I have been able to connect my phone with PX 770 and have used all the available functions for this piano model from the app. Very useful app, as it helps preserve the function button, as we need not use it physically (increasing longevity of button). All the functions (available for PX770) can be done from the app!👍☺️
Hopeless. Even pulling your hair out doesn't fix it. I have a lenovo tablet and bought all the connections to no avail. The piano doesn't recognize the app when plugged in. I have the PX-S3000. You use it as a selling point but look how many unhappy customers you have that also have this problem. Bad job Casio.
Why is the list of compatible devices mostly phones with small screens? You seriously expect me to use the PDF Score Viewer on a 6" screen? Please make this app compatible with more devices. Make a Microsoft Windows version and make a Chrome OS version... You know, an OS that runs on devices with large screens!
The sound is weird. I don't have a digital piano, but I wanted to use it as a visual MIDI player, like Synthesia, which is a paid all and I don't want to pay for. But when I played a MIDI file with this app, the sound was crude and bad. It sounded as if there is some cheap reverb, but I could not find a way to turn it off. Changing the instrument did not improve the sound. I cannot believe a piano manufacturer made an app with this kind of sound quality. Please improve the piano sound quality.
September Update Made me unable to connect to AP470 anymore. OTG is activated, same setup was working a month ago. Update after Dev-Response: Thank you for your trust. I am a software Developer. I have double-checked the cable. I have test-Installed an older .apk version (found online) of the app. With the older version i can still connect the piano. Back to the current version again: no connection. Would you please check your software again?
Infuriating! This app has extremely limited andriod compatibility. I have a Note 10+ that will not connect or recognize the Casio CDP-S350. How can a Galaxy Note 10+ not be compatible with this app but a Galaxy S6 is? Casio knows about the issues with the app for Andriod and they still refuse to fix it. If this continues I will stop using Casio all together and will promptly switch to Yamaha.
I got a px-s1000 partly because I thought I could use this app to control it, but it has not worked on several devices, even a new Chromebook I got specifically for the purpose. Casio support was no help, and it was clear from their replies they weren't interested in helping. I will not be buying another Casio keyboard/piano, and I'm seriously considering returning the one I got for a Yamaha Portable Grand.
This app didnt work on my CTK-2550 at all. I tried to connect it to my keyboard but i didnt work. On the mobile version it doesnt have the option to connect. On my pc, it wont work. It just sends the link to my phoen when i try to install it. I am very dis satisfied with this app. if anyone or casio themselves knows what is going wrong, please contact me. Thank you, but this app is not for me. I WILL N O T buy a casio Ever again. SO many problems with everything. its Pathetic. P.S. I am using samusng 8 phone and dell PC.
The app won't connect to my brand new CDP-S100. I get "Connection error. This function cannot be used because the piano is switched off or the connected MIDI device is not supported". The piano is certainly switched on and the description of this app says my keyboard is supported. I can successfully connect my keyboard to the Simply Piano app. That all works fine. Very disappointed.
