Was great, but now doesn't work right. The "shut off sync" feature no longer works. So if I make an instrument edit to one section of my song, it edits every section. This makes the app 100% useless and unusable. Please fix it! It was otherwise a really phenomenal app.
I do not use it that much, but I was looking for an app for chord inspiration and boy this was a nice find! I have tried the Lite version first and purchased the paid version just to support the love and development you can see is in this project. Hope to see even more instrument styles and song-o-matic options in future versions.
Invaluable composition tool. Intuitive and quick. Few DAW's have progression tools that are this efficient. Easily test chord progressions with a number of instruments and arpeggio styles. The random progression generators can inspire ideas as well.
Great app, easy to use, works without any problems and it can be kind of addictive. Love to see more/different built in sounds.
What a great app! So many options. I've already created a song I am so happy with. Every setting is easily in reach and it comes with a help section if needed. You get to choose your tempo, time signature, song key, instruments, reverb and instrument playing style. Bonus, you can even export your song as a wav. or MIDI file for use with other programs. The only thing to possibly add that would make it absolutely perfect would be an option for drum fills.
Fantastic app overall! Really helped me get my musical ideas out quickly. I love how detailed it is. However, I do have some suggestions to improve it further. Firstly, the audio runs way too quiet. I have to max out the volume on any device I use it on to get it to acceptable listening levels. And lastly, the way that slash chords are spelled out is incorrect. For example, an A minor triad with an E in the bass should be Am/E or Amin/E but the app shows A/E Min which can be very confusing.
I'm just getting to know this app but one thing I think it should have in addition to what is there now. A new page that is basically a flow-chart of established built-in progression choices. You pick the key you want to use, then you pick a progression from the list, such as 6-4-1-5 or 1-4-5, etc. Then you have options to increase or decrease the number of bars in each change, copy/paste sections or add changes however you want. Then click a button that "populates" that to the song page.
Overall great app, the best ive come across for experimenting with chord progressions. The only problem I have (reason for 4 stars), is there is no way to turn off auto inversions, every time you copy a scene it will rewrite it with new inversions, and then you have to go change each one manually, which will change any chord that hasnt had its autoselect turned off. Would be great if you could turn that function off.
what an excellent app! The developer of chordbot has done a fantastic job. Getting down song ideas in easy to use chord blocks and being able to add instant style changes, drum beats, bass, key boards with a click makes this a "must have" app for songwriters, looking to quickly preserve or explore musical ideas. I can't wait to see how this app will be developed in the future, for now it's my go to app for saving composition ideas. Thank you for creating this, your work is really appreciated! :)
I got this when I didn't think inversions mattered and didn't know modal music existed. The more I learn about theory, the more I appreciate it! It's aware of your key and can handle any mode, not just major or minor. You can change your inversions and immediately compare. I'm just learning about tonicized stuff; I think they color-code all the key's Good Chords green, the ones commonly tonicized yellow, and the rest red. Great for writing/testing progressions, not as a performance companion.
I wish it still had a dark interface--a theme option would be awesome--but ChordBot is still my favorite progression building app. Unlike most others, it offers multutracked instrumentation so that I dont have to just try to imagine how a piece might sound played by anything other than a piano. Lots of chord types plus inversions and the choice to add a different root/bass note. I have lost several days of my life to this app, I suspect.
Used the "plain pop" preset. Chordbot immediately came up with an awesome chord progression, so I tweaked all the instruments just right, added drums and bass, then realized "hey this sounds awfully familiar". Turns out Chordbot wrote Love is a Battlefield. Same chords in the same key. Great app, but I don't think I'll be using the presets anymore.
This is a amazing app and is exactly what I was looking for to do simple backtracks, my only request would be local file saving please!!
This is probably the most useful app for songwriting that I've ever seen on Play Store. When I'm struggling for ideas, Chordbot has exactly what I need. It gets me back in the zone, feeling creative and motivated. I love using it before bed, so that I wake up with a bunch of fresh ideas. Love it. I highly recommend it to others.
Excellent app! Allows to create chord sequences with various voices for desired arrangements. However, I do miss rock rhythms, overdriven guitar sound and capability to insert drum fillers. With these added features, the app would be awesome. Thank you, author for your time and effort to create it!
I absolutely love it! The only things I wish for is that you wouldn't have to manually switch off the melody that is played with the chords each time you open the app, I wish the app would remember that I turned it off. The other thing I wish for is that you would be able to add lyrics and/or record your own song/melody on top of the chords so you can build the whole song idea in the app, not just the background music.
After a year of using chordbot, it's outstanding and after producing music for 21 years, a definitive big help when I need to test or excitement on the go. Perfect this app by 1 sending chordbot midi data (note) from device to external. 2 instead of having piano, drums, synth, etc - just have list of sequences and then assign a sound. Would open up the entire library. 3. Support bds.
It is an amazing app. The variety of chords available plus inversions makes it unique compared to other similar apps. Unfortunately, it does not have the usual, more common styles in terms of rythm. I will, as a result, give it 3 out of five. When it includes the more conventional styles, I will give it 5.
This is a great a app for sketching out songs quickly and easily. Once I have sketched out a song in Chordbot, I can save it as a MIDI file and import it into my workstation keyboard sequencer for further editing to complete a song. Some initial kinks: I had to install the external "File Explorer" app just so that Chordbot could load an exported .json file. Total Commander doesn't work - "file import error". Also had to uninstall Chordbot Lite for Chordbot to be listed as an 'Open with' app.
I used the free version of your app for years with satisfaction. Unable to have the full version due to the difficulty of online payment in Africa. I just got my debit card and the full version downloaded. My joy is full. I can progress making more music :) Thank you, Chordbot!
Overall really great. Can easily make progressions that sound good. Lots of options for instruments and voicings. Some controls are a bit awkward and there could be more musical styles (metal, EDM, etc). Hopefully they will add more in the future!
This is one of my go-to songwriting tools as a professional. I can mock up a whole arrangement with chords, drum, and bass, in a matter of minutes. No guessing if certain chords will fit together. The color coding does the trick. Bravo!!! Can't wait till you guy can expand on a few more midi patterns and maybe some new drum sound options like a Linn drum, 909, 808, etc! Amazing.
The best musical notepad. It's receiving updates regularly, one time purchase with no in-app purchases. I have switched phones many times and by simply transferring app data it has saved all of my songs for me, packed with features. Reliable, has never crashed. Would buy again if I could just to support the devs.
