App won't open unless I agree to a 3-day trial of a $70/year premium subscription. Seventy dollars?! Every year?! For a guitar tuner app which I use once a month?! I was happy using the basic pitch detection feature occasionally in exchange for ads. But the new trial can't be declined, so this app is now useless for me. Supposedly you can cancel the trial after agreeing to it, but I have no idea if the app will then function as before, and I refuse to indulge this "dark pattern" UX bs. Bye.

It used to be good. I used it all the time after my chromatic tuner ran out of batteries a year ago. But the recent update (with the new interface) ruined it. I just spend 20 minutes getting my guitar in drop C and it still very off. It does not recognise which string I am hitting, and the new UI is not clear when I am in tune or not. One second my string is to high, the other second way to low. With the old version setting my guitar in drop C took 3 miutes and was pretty accurate (always needed some manual tweaking but that is expected from a phone app). Get the old version back pls!

I've used this tuner app a few years now but I've just uninstalled it Mar 2021. It was looking for a subscription of 39.99 per year and no option to continue with the free guitar tuner version. So bye bye. I can tune from piano, from guitar itself from a top E or go back to using a battery operated tuner. Not worth that amount and no message on app store to even say the free version was being discontinued.

I've been using this for a few years now probably and it's pretty great. It has lots of tuning presets, more than I'd ever need myself but also has a 'free tune' setting where it'll just tell you which note you're closest to when you hit a string. I don't think it gets you bang on the note, but it gets you close enough that you can tweak ever so slightly by ear if necessary. The ads really are not that invasive either, and I'm happy to endure them for the sake of how handy this app is.

This app was pretty good before the recent update. Had a fair bit of tunings for the guitar and ukelele where you could tune each string individually either manually or through automatic detection. Updated in the past week and now it forces you to activate a 3 day trial and subscribe to 30 odd quid a year in order to use the app.

I have had this app for several years. In the beginning it was really good. Then it changed with updates, became less accurate, and ads became more and more. It flooded me with notifications which I had to block. I am changing my rating. Very sorry to see things going backward.

This was one of the most wonderful guitar units that I used for years and now you have to sign up for free trial and input a credit card number?! After being a wonderful free app, possibly one of the best in the market it's now something you have to pay to use?! Ad-supported not good enough for you guys anymore? With the sheer volume of guitar tuners on the market, it's like having a Tetris knockoff that you ask somebody to pay for. Horrible move. You have lost a customer.

The app was great ... key word: was I can understand that you guys need to get some cash, but locking every single feature into payment? ... That's beyond unnecessary considering that the main thing about this app was that it was free for over more than 2 years! You guys didn't even say anything about the app moving onto payment only.

Tim. B. Mar 8, 2021

Was a great app that did everything you needed. It even had ways to improve your experience if you wanted to pay extra. Now it's a subscription service that's like $50 a year. Do they not realize that you can just buy a physical tuner on Amazon for $10? Seriously, what a bad move.

Re-review. Coming back after having twins I realize that now all of a sudden it'd a paid app.. and I can find the same tones I want on Google. However this part stands,, One of the few tuners I have found that will give me a note in hertz as apposed to 440hz. Still not worth 50$...and if I did something wrong whatever is going on with the app really discouraged me in keeping it. Uninstalling and going to YouTube

Nice app, but trying to train my ear, the tuning fork for tuning my guitar is off pitch from the string tuner. When I tune my Taylor to the Tuning Fork, and then verify with the individual string Tuner, every one strings are sharp and then need to be re-tuned. It's the same issue with my Samsung NOTE III, NOTE 4, S-8, and my Tab-E. So, is this indicative of what this is app is like for ALL Samsung devices? If not, I'll surely add the 5th star.

Ste. C. Aug 7, 2019

not what I wanted (I was looking for a generic "fine" tuner for an instrument that doesn't use standard guitar tuning) and the photo realistic UI just gets in the way. now it clutters my phone with useless notifications even though I haven't used it in more than a month. well, maybe not totally useless since it reminded me I should uninstall it

Con. M. Mar 3, 2021

Terrible. This new update is insane; the fork and chromatic tuner are now longer free, its loaded with ads and hard to actually use, the interface is somehow worse than before the update and upon opening it was very difficult to get past the free trial option. Would not reccomend at all

Mar. H. Oct 5, 2018

New version of the app is rubbish. Straight up doesn't work. The tuning needle doesn't seem to have an correlation to tuning the guitar anymore, seems to do whatever it wants. Had to tune each string by ear after listening to the notes on the app. What have you done to this once brilliant app?

Log. W. Mar 9, 2021

I been using this app since 2014 & it was the most accurate tuner & i used this tuner ALL THE TIME. It was always free & it gave you a limited amount of alternate tunings for free which still fitted my needs from e flat to drop d. The other tunings you had to purchase. Can not believe they changed the format overall tho & now you have to pay for everything. Even the free tuner you now have to purchase a subscription to use it for free. So disappointing. This was my fav tuner. I feel betrayed lol

Mat. S. Mar 19, 2021

Now very expensive subscription model for what was a good free app. Maybe put advanced features behind a subscription (or one time payment) but there is no way can justify that much YEARLY just to use basic, standard, guitar tuning. Not even a weekly or monthly option. Uninstalling

Cur. H. Mar 11, 2021

I've used this app for years and it was always my go and I recommended it for friends as well. And suddenly in order to use it for guitar, you need to pay $60 a year? Ridiculous. If you really need to monetize, do so for alternate tunings or the other instruments. Let standard tuning just be free

Dan. P. Apr 2, 2021

This had been my go to tuning app for years, now I will be deleting it as it is closed under a $60 a year pay wall. It's completely luxurious. I can't believe the greed and short sighted stupidity of the app makers here. The app was not even very polished and full of ads before, but still worth it for the alternative tunings. I'd pay a one time 5 bucks for it, maybe. Terrible miscalculation, I'll wait for a clone to pop up, or for them to realize this terrible miscalculation.

1 star for adding annoying "features" that make this app much less pleasurable to use, like the distracting unread notification count in the corner (which aren't notifications at all, but ads to your other apps) and the always aggravating "ARE YOU SURE???" prompt when clicking the back button to exit the app. Uninstalled.

Mad. C. Mar 22, 2021

Loved the interface and reactivity for ages, just checked back since I'm picking up my guitar without the built in tuner again, and now you have to subscribe to use it??? I'm fine with some ads, but no way do I use this enough for it to be worth paying for.

Jim. W. Nov 26, 2019

So far not impressed. Forced to wait for a 15 second ad upon opening. This will not work for a quick tuning check while playing in an ensemble. It also forced me to rate it the second time I opened it, haven't even figured out how to use it yet. I'm officially annoyed now. Uninstalling and seeing if I can find something better.

Bri. E. Sep 14, 2020

I downloaded the app opened it then it immediately played an ad, no big deal I can live. tried to click the x it opened a window to download tik tok, closed the window opened the app again.....it plays an ad....again. repeat two more times and here I am uninstalling it. idk any about the app never made it that far p

Joh. O. Sep 2, 2021

Not the same anymore. I had this app for probably 7 ish years, and it was fantastic. Now you have to pay to use it for tuning. I'm trying to make sure my baritoned guitar is in tune by using the frequency, but nope, gotta fork up for cash. I'll pass.

Mat. Oct 24, 2018

Works well with my Snark in helping achieve odd guitar tuning set ups like open G, drop C, etc... Perfect tool for guiding newbies like me, but the microphone tuning with even my galaxy s9 just doesn't compare to the acoustic responsiveness from my Snark. Definitely useful, and will help any guitarist in need of a tuner, however, for me, it's just a useful guide/power tool to explore new, uncharted realms

Ren. F. Dec 16, 2020

I like that I'm able to see which string I'm tuning. However more work needs to be done on the UI, giving more info about the icons especially settings and the tuner doesn't indicate when each note is tuned.

Ken. S. Nov 11, 2020

First time using this Application was an eye opening happy experience. In trying to remove all the clutter when buying my new Android phone. I chose not to do a mirrored copy. Jusg install what I need and leave out the rest. I searched for the Yousician tuner I've used for 10 years and I'm happy that playstore couldn't find it! My Search brought me this, the "Chromatic Guitar Tuner" and Wow! To tell you I like this one better! Well that would be an Understatement! "I Love It!"

CMD. r. Jan 2, 2021

This app is amazing, aside from the vast tuning options for multiple playing platforms it allows me the versatility to tune almost any frequency, a wonderful app and must have for any musician, beginner to pro, check it out!

Have to give 1 star in order to post but in reality i give no stars. Was a 5-star app, now a BIG ZERO. I've been using this app for several years and it was great... until one day I open it to tune up and it became 'pay-to-play'. Not even a warning or a notification. Really?? Bush-league. Guess I'll use the tuner on my SmartChord app - great app btw...
