Poor UX. Every time you log into the app, CIBC shows you ads trying to sell you products. When you decline, it then shows you a page saying 'are you sure you don't want this product'. Again another useless click, and time wasted trying to access banking services. Once in the app, if you try and send an e-transfer, you are bombarded with in-window tips, EVEN THOUGH YOU'VE BEEN SHOWN THEM COUNTLESS TIMES ALREADY. Every time you use this app, it thinks it's the first time you've ever used it.
Really Getty tired of having offers shoved in my face every time I open this app to do actual banking. It literally takes over the entire screen and prevents you from getting to the information you're looking for unty you've scrolled to the bottom of the screen and dismissed it. Best part of all, they aren't always relevant l. I've gotten offers for services I have NEVER used before and have no need for, but they claim these offers are personalized.
Notifications aren't working for Costco MasterCard users. Based on previous reviews this obviously wasn't tested well at all. The transition has been nothing but a hassle. The Capital One app for the Costco MasterCard always worked perfectly. This is one of the reasons I cancelled my previous CIBC card a few years ago. You cannot reach anyone online and the phone is always backed up for hours. There may as well be no customer service at all as a result.
This app is very difficult to wade through. It's layout is distracting and the presentation of accounts is especially frustrating, as it presents a balance including available credit where a user would likely expect their main account to be. It has a lot of issues as unexpected as this. Once memorized, it can do everything any Competition can claim.
Everything was satisfactory until the last update, now every time I change screens the app will hang (sometimes for a minute or more) with the loading shield spinning like a slow windows 98 computer. And this morning while it was 'loading' the app just crashed out. Please update your code, I would like to be able to access my bank account. Thanks!
Most recent update has completely broken the app. Works one time after initial install, then every time afterwards it hangs at the splash screen. To log in I now have to uninstall and then reinstall it every time. Clearing the cache does not solve the issue. Worked fine for years prior, now in the past few weeks since this update it has become completely unusable. CIBC, read the amount of negative reviews lately and roll back this update. Extremely frustrating.
A best banking app without any bugs and extremely an easy interface. You can literally do almost everything without going to a bank including foreign currency order, free wire transfer, bill payments etc. Request: please start wire transfer features within Canada which is an important feature for your clients.
Terrible... down way too much or won't open, just absurd...have to open up in a browser to complete cibc banking... slow with a slew of unnecessary nonsense... simple is sometimes more effective...at least it might open more than 6/10 times. Huge other issues inside the app..lacks common sense in finding info as well, it seems to go out of it's way to make things more difficult!
There is something wrong with the Visa functionality causing the system to think but never recover business or personal statement information; both are not functioning correctly causing to log out and log back in with full password. After twice I forced stopped but this is odd behaviour for CIBC applications. Occuring on Android and iOS. Unable to recover despite second log-in. Shield appears to think or search with no recovery or option to return back to previous screen. [Corrected /Functional]
I'm comparing to the last Costco app from Capital One. When I Travel and change sim card in my phone and try to enter the app it wants to send me only a text. So that means I have to swap back to my Canadian sim card, get charged 10$ for using it abroad. So I have to call to do my banking and that's not convenient, compared to my other banking apps. That's all I had to say.
For some reason I am unable to edit my Apr 18th review of this app so am submitting another review. My last review was responded to by the author who suggested I reinstall. I therefore long-pressed the app's icon aiming to get the standard "app info" shortcut. That wasn't available for some reason but noticed some sort of "n msgs waiting" indicator and noticed that n decreased each time I did so. After the last one (where n=1), the msg indicator disappeared. Very unintuitive I have to say!
Easy to use and I recently upgraded from a flip phone... So if I find it easy, everyone should. Of course nothing compares to the friendly service I get from my home branch, but as far as an app, better and more user friendly than most!
An excellent banking experience. I have never had any issues. I just use the app to access my account, send money to friends and family, and check how many dollars i have left. Never had any problems. The customer service at CIBC is the reason i stay. The app does not cause me any problems! Thanks CIBC for taking such good care of me and mine. Its appreciated!
Absolutely awesome! But does not allow transfers from TFSA account to regular chequing/saving accounts. I have to log into my account through a browser, time consuming. Please consider adding this option. Thank you kindly.
The app itself is okay, not the best banking app but not the worst either. CIBC used to be the best tech bank but not so much anymore. Not being able to use while connected to a VPN is very annoying especially since they could just use 2FA to confirm.
The app seems flawed it won't let me connect my journey rewards card nor will it let me check the credit score. I have checked to see if its up-to-date and its the most current version of the app will change the rating if they fix it
After May 2022 update; I can not use the app anymore! It keeps popping up the advertisement and when I click either "No thanks" or "remind later", the popup comes back as a loop? Never ends and I can not use the app. What a mess ?
Since newest update I can't get the app to load past the password screen. It looks like its working but once it takes me to the accounts screen everything is grayed out and I get the shield loading icon that spins forever. I've already tried to clear the cash, change permissions and delete and reinstall to no luck. I use this app almost daily so now I'm kinda screwed. I'm on a Note 9 running the latest Android OS. 😤
I've been using this app quite successfully for 2 or more years primarily for making eDeposits and sending eTransfers. But this week I've run into a problem with eDeposit. Just as soon as a photo of the cheque is taken I'm dropped back to the Login screen and have no way to complete the transaction.
How did this release pass QA? On the rare occasion that the app allows me to sign in, it promptly hangs when trying to complete a basic operation, like sending an e-transfer. It took me about 20 minutes over 4 attempts to finally send an e-transfer. I should have just logged on from my desktop and did this, like it was 2010.
The app has been opening on a black page a lot lately. Doesn't work most of the time. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a few times. Also wish it'd work with our VPN.
Extremely convenient online banking and services. Amazing user interface, never had any issues with the app. Occasional downtime but that's normal with most apps.
The app hangs on the startup white screen with red cibc dot. I uninsatalled and reinstalled and cleared the cache but no change. Finally figured out that my network is blocking their connection to an ad server (using pihole dns) which prevents the app from loading. CONNECTING TO AN AD SERVER SHOULD NOT BE A REQUIREMENT FOR A BANKING APP!!! Very disappointing from a banking app. Version: 8.36.3
The app works very well until you're Visa card gets compromised and canceled, then you have real problems as you can not log onto the app with your new replacement card and current password. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app with no good results. It would not even accept my finger print log on. If you use this app: DON'T EVER LOSE YOUR CARD as they will replace it and then leave you hanging with this app. After reading the response to my review, I reinstalled the App once more and followed the directions and tried to reregister. Trouble is, you only have two choices, either register as a "new customer" or "sign in". I chose to register as a new customer and got stopped and would only let me sign in witch did not work. I did manage to almost reset my password with the new card but it stopped again saying "try again later" . So I tried again later and went back to not allowing the new card number. I have now spent another two hours trying to make this work. If I could give this app a 0, I would.
I am a Costco member and I was set up to pay my Mastercard balance in full every month. I haven't been able to access my account to see the balance and no one has contacted me. I have tried to phone several times and have hung up each time when my time on hold reaches 40 minutes. My old card number doesn't get me into my account and I don't have a new one. I haven't received a new card. I just want to pay it off and get away from CIBC. My credit rating has probably plummeted thanks to you.
Make this app mobile friendly. Super frustrating trying to update my address and had to give up because it wouldn't enter the address the way I typed it. This app is a constant let down. If it's not crashing than it needs an upgrade every other time I use it.
Pretty good overall. The app had limited functions. For example you can't get mortgage statements and can't get direct deposit forms through the app (you need to login on desktop for that). Would prefer to have more of that functionality but it does everything else great. I have had a few instances where the verification text code want sending and I had to choose the call option
