Circuit

Use our latest smart-scan technology - and pay for your laundry with your phone.

Make doing the laundry less of a hassle with a mobile app that's as easy-to-use as our washing machines and dryers! The Circuit Laundry app lets you top up your Circuit app account* in seconds, and then you're good to go...just turn up at your nearest Circuit launderette, load your laundry, scan a machine's QR code and select the programme you want to start - job done! Your credit will be adjusted automatically so you'll always have your circuit account balance to hand. No need to stay and watch your washing.

Once the washer or dryer gets going the app also gives you a countdown** that tells you how long there is to go until your laundry is done.

* Please note that your Circuit app account is separate to your laundry card account you access from the Circuit website. If you haven’t used the Circuit app before you will need to sign up separately on the app. Balances from your laundry card cannot be transferred to your Circuit app account and vice versa.

**The app will rely on your phone having a wi-fi, 3G or 4G signal inside the laundry room to activate the machines - and also to see the countdown on the cycle if you leave to do something else while your wash completes. As long as you're connected, you can see how long is left on your chosen cycle and get on with other things instead of waiting in the launderette.

By downloading this app, you agree to the following T&C's:

You accept that you have a non-exclusive licence to use the app. You agree not to copy the app or infringe our intellectual property rights in the app.

The minimum amount of top-up credit you can buy is £5.00. Your payment will be processed through PayPal and Circuit will not hold any card details.

You can apply for a refund of part-used top-up credit by emailing us at [email protected] with details of registered email address, the date of the in-App purchase, the amount of credit purchased, and the amount of credit to be refunded. No refund will be given on balances of less than £5.00. Refunds will incur an administration charge of £3.00, which will be deducted directly from the refund value. Refunds will be made using the payment method used for the purchase. No refund will be processed for any free credit. Unused credits will expire 12 months after the date of purchase. Worst app I've ever had the displeasure to use. The last 6 months that I've suffered this app it has never worked as it should. Usually it says the machine doesn't exist, even when scanning the qr code, but lately it hasn't even let me add funds. Whenever I approve the purchase through bank mfa it refreshes the page and makes me add my card etc again. Had to borrow a friend's phone to do my laundry today. Prices are outrageously high as well, but i guess that's not the app's fault

Installed the app, needed to make an account. Entered a password and they told me that I need to add numbers, an upper case and a lower case. I change my password to fit the criteria and it tells me "Inalid Character". The worst part is that I need this app to use the laundry machines at the only laundrette near me. My only alternatives is taking an hour long trip both ways to the next nearest or going to the bank and explaining to them that I need them to convert all my money to 50 pences.

Unable to top up. The interface closes automatically when switching apps. The developer did not have the little foresight to realise that people will need to confirm the payment on their banking app on the very same device they are using this laundry app on.

After 5 months for no reason my Forex card is not accepted by this app , but works fine everywhere else. Customer care has been horrible and not helpful and not telling me if my card will ever been accepted or not and are really unhelpful being to unable to coherently respond the issue or state the causes or if it will be fixed!

If I could give the overall service a negative rating I would. The app is just about manageable only letting you add a whole £5 when you probably only need to add £1. It wouldn't be so bad if the machines weren't the worst things ever. You waste your money only for the machine to stop and not rinse your clothes, so you have to try another machine. Then you put them in the dryer for 50mins and they still aren't dried. You are better off washing your clothes by hand. This is not a service.

The app often just stops working for a day, then I can't do my laundry. Very poor customer service. It is also on the pricier side, I would really expect much better service for how expensive it is.

Live chat is never available. Used two washing machines and should have a balance of 3.2 remaining, but it shows -2 as balance. The support staff is never available

I can't top up my account - I need to confirm the payment in my bank app and when I come back to circuit app I need to start over again. Talking with chat support was useless

If I could give 0 stars, I would. The machines never work nor does the app. It's an absolute joke. The amount of times that I have been charged just for the machine not to start or for the dryers not to dry my clothes. Pathetic scam.

Not registering any password. And not even showing what type of password it wants. Once it showed and tried different password again, no response to passwords! Stil it says invalid, cannot rehmgister and cannot use the laundry room now!!

I would rather pass a glass kidney stone than deal with the joke of a service known as circuit laundry. Their machines are rarely functioning, and when they are the quality of wash is total garbage. All of this is of course reliant on their payment schemes working - they rarely do - and they are also not eager to give refunds. I strongly advise everyone use PayPal when dealing with this so you can take advantage of buyer protection if they scam you out of any money.

The timer on the app is God awful. The machine always takes 20 minutes longer than the app says. Plus it's too expensive at £2.80 per eco wash

Pathetic! Disappointing! Needs a hell lot of work. Can't use the app smoothly. There's always some network problem, even though the network strength is strong. Unable to scan the machine QR and if it scans somehow it does not recognize the machine. Can't use credit added to my account via app, my money is stuck. If I try to use forget password link, it says there's no account with this email. I literally have mails of successful registration on my email id. Useless App!!

Won't let me log in, claims it's the wrong details but it's not and I can log in with them fine on the website.

Isn't the slickest of apps. Just about seems to work when topping up and washing, although there appears to be a bug that displays your balance as £0 when you still have between £0 and £1 remaining. Called two separate members of their support staff, who both friendly and verified that on the system they can see there is still something on the account. Will be interesting to see if that shows up when I next top up... Overall, if you have the choice, opt for the smart card and save yourself the hassle.

Bad service... I've lost my pounds using a useless app. The customer service is poor as well. I highly recommand the developers to make some changes to the app. On the beginning of my studies it worked well, but it suddenly stops working on machines. I tried to call to resolve the situation, but nothing more have been done than restarting the machines in my laundrette... Painful experience and not professional.

Using this app for a second year now. Not only is it massively overpriced, it will only let you top up in select amounts, this leaves you with leftover money in your account wasted at the end of the year. It is reliant on there being a good internet signal which isn't always the case in student halls. A coin-slot system would be infinitely simpler and less time-consuming. Using the Circuit App is the worst part of any day.

This app is frustrating. The payment system is Paypal-based but it is somehow atrocious and extremely buggy. Even if you try to put your card details manually (which takes forever) the system is still very likely to fail, no matter how many steps you take to prove your payment method is valid. It provides with no alternatives to this Paypal-based system, so when it has a problem, you're stuck. Either they change their top-up system or this app will continue to be unusable.

Absolute joke. App displays cycle progress but is often incorrect by 5 minutes or more. May I recommend that the status page has a clear note that the cycle times are approximate and not updated in real-time? The QR scanner has worked almost 1/10th of the times I've used it. Multiple phones tested, years apart. I try to type the code in instead but have to wait for the washer LCD screen to cycle around.

Worst experience I have ever had. I wanted to put money on my card so I installed it and pressed on top up and added some money, then I clicked somewhere else and it asked me to login. I did so and my money is gone so I had to contact the customer service the next day to refund me. Also found out that the top up can't be done from the app which makes it very frustrating that they don't say that when you top up.

Objectively it is a terrible app, riddled with spelling mistakes, typos, poor english. The UX and UI is beyond awful, I think it would be difficult to make it worse. Here are just a few of the experiences you will have: - "Balance!" - I'm alright thanks - "There is no promotions yet" - Do they not teach this at school anymore? - "There is no statuses yet" - Again, also there should be because I'm using the machine? What really baffles me is that circuit has been unable to add contactless payment by credit/debit cards? Even though you can use contactless for vending machines which are typically smaller transactions. It would be so much more convenient than using this dreadful app.

A. G. u. Sep 3, 2019

Unreasonably high prices, inconvenient top-up through PayPal (although I suppose I'm glad they don't have direct access to my card), minimum £5 with no refund on unused balance below that. Pretty sure they raised the prices further without sending a notification causing me to top up the wrong amount. App doesn't tell you which machines are available. Timer on the active machine is nice but I've found it to be a few minutes off.

A. G. u. Oct 10, 2019

Pros: Topping up is simple in my experience and connecting to the washer/dryer was responsive. Cons: simple things like: unable to remove old machines; not being able to scan the QR codes of the machines; not showing my full balance (££:pp) so it looks like I'm have less credit than I do; the lack of information on 'whether I need a card or not' causing me to pay £2 for a card I'll never use with no credit sharing. For the price we pay for the machines, the app is such an inconvenience. Poor.

A. G. u. Feb 19, 2020

Not a great app. The most glaring issue is that regardless of how much money you have on your account it will frequently display it as £0.00 until you add more money! The second is that it is consistently hit or miss when you're attempting to connect it to a washing machine or dryer. Circuit as a company are beyond useless.

This app could be made better by a university student. It seems that the app literally ignores the timer on the designated machine, and instead it just starts its own timer. While the website actually gives you a somewhat correct time, clearly different people made the app and didn't communicate that well. I can appreciate the fact you can pay with the app, that's a really nice thing! But I just can't justify giving this a good review, especially because only half the machines are added.

Circuit is fine I guess... on the off chance it actually works. I've had numerous issues with it from jump, from it refusing to recognise a machine, machines refusing to start when the app thinks it's fine, and machine cancelling immediately and the app telling me the cycle is finished when it cancelled at the very beginning. Their live chat feature appears to exist solely to confirm the issues the app tells you. Any public building or university should steer well clear of using Circuit.
