I am rating this app 5 stars in order to support it and also because I think it is a simple idea done (for the most part) well. That said, there are certain problems with this app: a lack of instruction and hints to help you overcome levels where you get stuck, a relatively small amount of material covered in the lessons, and also the fact that the interface for editing circuits, while it mostly works, is still glitchy in places, thus I would often find myself unnecessarily resetting levels.
I don't know. Awesome idea on one hand, but for the price it's very short and basic, and even within the scope (current, voltage, switches, resistors, capacitors) it does not go to some interesting places, like using a capacitor to double the voltage, or basic RC circuits. I'm sure the Every Circuit engine is more than capable of handling such things and more, but apparently making circuits that will make for good puzzles is not easy.
Great app for learning though some modules are confusing. If you're good at figuring things out on your own, this will treat you well. If you're more of a guided learner it might be a take more time or even some outside research. Also, you unfortunately have to purchase the full version to get access beyond the first module or two. Everything else is great.
Possibly a decent educational tool falsely advertised as free. You will be met by a pay-wall before you can even begin to learn about the most basic concepts of electricity which include voltage, resistors and so on. The "sandbox" mode (supposed to be used to create circuits) is a joke at best. It seems to feature a grand total of 2 components - a resistor and a capacitor, but even those can't be used freely as the game requires you to have unlocked them through progress, which costs money.
If you're learning electronics this might be fun and stimulating, but if you know basic electronics this isn't challenging. The creator needs to make levels that challenge everyone. I feel pretty cheated that the game doesn't have all the components integrated and no new levels have been added. Nice idea, but needs more development.
Poor instructions, you are largely left to learn by fumbling about. Doesn't mention cost until you have completed all levels of the first unit and then demands payment to unlock the rest. Doesn't cost much (UK £2.50) but it is the underhand way it goes about it that means I won't be buying an app that I actually like.
I liked it initially on my Android emulator, but this game is unplayable on my phone. I don't know why, but the lag when toggling switches is so bad that sometimes one tap doesn't register until I tap again, and then that messes up the timing of the currents. Brand new phone by the way, LG V40 ThinQ with Oreo.
Fun game that does teach some concepts. Worth buying for young kids interested in electricity. It would be a 5 star if it included more advanced concepts such as RC time constants. It would be awesome if it included inductors, transistors, and since AC circuits. I would rather pay $15 for those in a game than in Every Circuit!
It's buggy. I've reached the capacitor section part 2, the 💀 problem, and when the switch completes the circuit and the capacitor value is changed, the voltage remains the same. If and only if you flip the switch on and then off and then adjust the capacitor value, will the voltage displayed change.
It's nice enough but I feel like I'm missing out on the fundamentals of understating circuits and current flow because I'm too busy flipping switches to simulate a waveform. So instead of looking at the circuit and seeing what it's doing I'm watching the waveform!
Great app! It helps a lot with helping you build your intuition rather than just having to go through endless calculations without really understanding what you are doing. Once you get a good foundation you can get into the more mathematical side of circuits.
This is absolutely brilliant app helping me get a grasp on the fundamentals. I can't wait for more content to be added and this game to cover trickier topics such as amplifiers, BJTs, MOSFETs and timer chips. This can get quite involved and is a great way to learn. Would happily support the development of it meant more content.
5 Stars, excellent for learning while playing but this App needs: a) more lessons about transistors, diodes, etc; b) the App is a little short about the explanation of the ¿how works the ... things? (for example, a button option to see a depth explanation); c) please add more lessons, I not am the unique person that reclaim this point (more more more more more lesson pleaseeee)... in resume: THE BEST APP FOR LEARNING ELECTRONIC WITH PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE. Note: I not am native English speaker.
game has severe unplayable lag. when I play the first levels just clicking the switch to close the circuit it takes like 3 to 6 seconds for it to happen, making the simple pulses of on and off impossible to do. this is on a galaxy note 9.
i'm really interested in pcb design/repair and ive been teaching myself everything so i can get a job at an electronics repair shop and eventually open my own. but i really dont understand how this app has any educational properties. its made too much like a game and not realistic enough for anyone to learn anything from it. i dont mind the app whatsoever id just prefer if it were advertised as a game and not an educational tool.
The concept is good, but i miss a lot of areas that could be added given how complete the simulator is. Puzzles with inductances, diodes, transistors, etc would be interesting.
They fixed the bugs inside the app and it runs smooth but only the first chapter is free. Maybe unlock a few levels in each chapter instead of just in one. They also don't provide feedback.
The app is really small with too little puzzles. The max "learning" level is capacitors even if you pay for the app. It makes you a promise learning about more components but for that you will have to install another app and pay but there you won't learn anything. Currently, I am sorry giving money for this, because I expected a lot more components not just resistors and capacitors.
The clearest demonstration of the underlying principles of electronics in visual form that I have ever seen. Excellent educational game! I suspect a lot of learners unreachable through lecture or static diagram will benefit from this the way I have!
Neat, but limited and basic. This was a fun exercise for basic reinforcement of Ohm's Law and dividers. There are capacitors, but crudely simulated (no reactance), and I feel inductors should have been included for a full RLC suite. Maybe this app is too basic to simulate "real" or complex circuits, let alone semiconductors. An option to skip ahead would be nice too.
well, interesting, like, but I have misunderstanding, sandbox ... choice some component, it says 'sovle puzzle to unlock components' puzzle says 'buy all levels'. What is the problem with sandbox ? I can't touch the sky, I don't know for what I'll pay. sanbox and logic is broken. paid version need unlock components count or count of boards but not all
Seems like it would be a fun game for a novice and could potentially help build some intuition about current and voltage distribution. (Judging by the free trial.) I would suggest that you add voltage source to the free trial. Then people can directly apply what they learn here to the real life. This way they might be even more motivated to continue playing and buy the app. (We have voltage sources everywhere around us, but as a novice current sources are a lot harder to find in daily life.)
These are great exercises if you are interested in learning circuit diagrams. Clean, easy interface for connecting circuits and dropping in components. Has a complete sandbox mode for laying out circuits and simulating current flow.
FRAUD ALERT! In app purchases are a fraud and provide no additional access or functionality. Paid for the update, now when I click on a high level instead of saying "upgrade to unlock" it now just says "solve previous pixels to unlock" what a deception. I want a refund!
Easy to use and understand. Flawless interface once you figure out that you can slide your finger in a circle to adjust settings on resistors and voltage sources instead of tapping the screen.
Fun and great way to learn but I. Wish it wasn't timing based like yo could tell it the correct order of operations like in scrach the let it run I have muscular issues so I can't do all the puzzles even when I know the correct thing to do it's fustrating and not handclap accessable
Our Limbic/Reward system is P1 in our game of life: playing it well = 1UP or positive sensory feedback (pleasure); not playing it at all, or playing it badly = a descrease in the tone of our mood. Good mood = P2 (Cortex) gets more control. Incentive? Tick! The puzzles in this app are rewarding to solve and the difficulty scaling is weighted well. PLEASE integrate as a reward: a time-lapse of the ideal SOLUTION circuit being built - with Play, Stop, Pause, Frame/Step -/+, an Playback Speed CRTL
Good app if u start learning about electricity from scratch, but if u have a bit of experience the lessons are rather boring since they are relatively easy. I would wish that in future there are more lessons available (transistors, diodes, amplifier) and also some lessons where even people with a bit of experience can get their skills sharpened. Though it is a great app so far.
