I have used this app in the past on smaller screen (less than 5") and it was okay. I have a bigger screen now and thought it would have been better. UI elements go off the screen, the login screen is a bad experience visually speaking. Login credentials not working either. Would be nice to see the dev put work into making the UI fit the display rather than going off screen. I hope this will get fixed as I will not use this app if it doesnt fit the display amd becomes hard to read.
This app's alright, it does allow you to take the Packet Tracer experience mobile (if you're so enclined). However, until there's an update that makes it compatible with the current desktop version it won't be useful for any courses as I can't use it to actually *do* any labs or progress my learning. "This version is compatible with files up to version 7.0 of the Desktop edition." Fix that, update it and mame it compatible so I can do my course on the go and we're good!
An amazingly wicked little app that can't be anything but clunky with small mobile screens. I'm able to work a ok with a 7" Android screen and i can't imagine using it on smaller screens. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of that absolute asinine requirement of creating a Cisco login id and having to log in to use. Tip: if you're only using the guest account it opens much faster if you disable WiFi prior to launching the app.
Packet Tracer Mobile is very much not as good as the desktop app. The interface is completely different and I feel more limited on it. The desktop app for Windows, Linux, and Mac is much better. I have it on my Windows laptop and Linux desktop, and it's much more straightforward there. I recommend using the desktop app if you can.
I am in Cyber Patriots, and we use the desktop version of this all the time. But the mobile version does not support the most recent version of the desktop version, and is out of date. If you could update this app to work with the latest desktop version, I would give 5 stars, but this app is currently useless to me.
Would be a great app if I could actually click on the correct items. I have the Galaxy S8 and no matter what resolution or screen setting I use I have to click to the right of the item i want. Clicking "close" or "delete" on the on-screen keyboard is impossible making the app unusable.
Good networking tool. Though it's complicated 2 login but one can select guest option n wait 4 those few seconds. N since it's the only available networking simulation tool out there, It doesn't deserve any much criticism from me coz u guys r trying as well. Though I would appreciate it more if u guys could try to eradicate that waiting time from the guest option.
I'm preparing for my CCNA and unfortunately I don't have access to a computer so the only thing I have is my phone and it's not supporting the pkt files built from the latest packet tracer on desktop, I'm trying to solve some labs but unable open the files at all, I get an error saying "The file version is newer than this version of packet tracer" Although you guys are saying that you have updated the engine to packet tracer 7, I don't think it's supporting every file, Please fix it ASAP.🙏🏻
Nice try. I got as far a little 2 routers with eigrp set up and when I clicked on pdu out it just kept flashing and was unresponsive. Considering how difficult it was to use the cli with an in screen keyboard I can't imagine setting up a configuration of any complexity. But it kinda feels like packet tracer.
I have used the app on my previous phone but i am having issues using it on my new one. Can't log in and the outer circle (containig routers for example) doesn't adjust to the screen size (the screen is not small but the circle is way too big).
My review will stay at 1 as long as this app stays useless. The screen is not scaled properly, I cannot click on a lot of the options on my mobile device. It's a shame because this would be useful to have on my phone It was hard enough navigating the UI to log in...
the application is great for mobile and chromebooks alike the biggest issue is that you cannot use the mouse or keyboard that are either built in plugged in or bluetooth connected this creates many problems when setting up any devices as you are forced to use the touchscreen for these setups
Good but not on smaller screens. The app does state a recommended screen size of 7" and it does what it says so have to give it 5 stars. I tried on a smaller screen and agree with their recommendation. If all you have is a tablet this will allow cisco scenarios.
This would be awsome, but there is a lot of bugs. For myself there was the cant scroll bug, its just jumped back st the scroll starting place. The add new device was too big and didnt see the half of the selectable item. And this app was updated in 2017
Terrible app with a UI that doesn't scale properly. It's also missing icons and features from the desktop application. Makes it impossible to use. Login was also broken and froze the app so I had to force stop it.
Hey Update it. 1. It is not supporting downloaded .pkt file from CISCO networking academy website. You can check file “1.1.1.8 Packet Tracer - Deploying and Cabling Devices.pkt” from course ”Introduction to IoT 1020 wr”. App failed to open this file. 2. When we tap to add device & further select device then type of devices goes out of screen. You can check- Tap to add device - select switches - NOW YOU WILL SEE UPPER AND LOWER PORTION OF LIST GOES OUT OF SCREEN & DOESN'T APPEAR.
This app is horrible. I couldn't even log in because part of the screen was cut off. how to get on my iPad and even then it wouldn't even open the file because it said that the app was too old and the file was a newer version.
Would have been neat if it worked. I can login just fine but on the "New, Open, Facebook" screen my mouse isn't registered as clicking anything. So I can't click anything at all. Tested on my Samsung Chromebook 3 and it does not work. Nor does the tar.gz file I downloaded from Netacad. Please figure out something to allow Chromebooks to use this resource, thanks!
Like the GUI.. it's almost identical to the PC version but please improve on the realtime simulation pane window. And add some other user friendly filters for presentation purposes.. But overall it's a very helpful app.
When I go to add anything the second circle with all the devices, cables, ect. to choose from is too large for my phone screen and I can't see all the options, other than that so far it's fine
Not great really. Task switching restarts the app every time, so you cannot switch to a browser window to read notes or documentation, this limits the usefulness. Really needs a rewrite.
Problem opening up on Chromebook just 3 icons appear "New" "Open" and a Facebook" icon. unistalled and re installed still the problem persisted came here and read the reviews from even 3 months before this stated the same thing. !!! Where is their Quality Control on this ? Who reads this and why is this still a problem !
Beautiful idea. Poorly executed. Anytime I enable secret and I log out of the switch or router, my password never works. I logged into the app with my Cisco account and it keeps giving me an error message
Oneplus 3, Android 8: guest login doesn't work, opens to a white screen with "Guest login mode" in the bottom and nothing else. Netacad ID login: gets stuck on a loading screen with a progress indicator. BTW, the screen size requirement is BS, resolution should matter, not screen size.
As a Student, I can't log in At All to gain access. I used this app in mid 2020 & i could log in as a student without any issues. It's September of 2021, the application will not allow me to sign in. I've waited longer than 10 minutes for the student login page to no avail. As the company that basically runs the internet in the twenty-first century, they should have enough resources to update this app. C'mon CISCO.
This might work fine on tablets or larger screens. Just don't try it on a phone. Even with a decent screen size, it is sluggish, clumsy, and some of the UI menus are too big to fit on the screen.
The UI is terrible. Annoying to navigate through. Can you please make it look like the UI on PC? Otherwise, it seems to be good old, useful Packet Tracer.
This version of packet tracer is garbage. Packet tracer on PC is awesome and i recommend it. My biggest gripe is that this version hasn't been updated in forever. I'm on the go a lot and can't always bring a laptop with me, this is where packet tracer mobile should be awesome but is disappointing. You cannot open .pkt files that are newer. If you thought you could bring what you're working on from your PC onto the mobile version you'll be disappointed. Cisco, update your app please.
