Awesome series and great strategy game. My condolences the ,John Tiller family. I just seen the news he passed away. I don't know when he passed away but for myself this is the first I heard of him passing away.
I live the game but I do wish that the vietnam one was updated and kinda more like this and more missions but yeah that's all but for this civil war this is pretty awesome.
I love this kind of game sadly i didn't see this game when i still have pc
Classic Wargaming with the Legendary John Tiller Combat Simulation
Love being the army commander
Very well done. Nothing like pushing Nathan Bedford Forrest into the river and off the map.His timing and movement was almost predicted. I feel so smart! Gettysburg. I want to execute Longstreet's plan. As for my southern friend who called me a dirty Yankee... it's over, you lost, and BTW,Grant and Sherman were both buckeyes as well.
I played the tutorials a few times each, trying to get higher scores and try tactics and strategies. Also read the user manual. The learning curve is a fun process. Then there are 4 battle scenarios, even more fun, now I am a grizzled vet. I have graduated to the paid apps, Shiloh 1st, it is huge, real steal for $3!!
I love it, it's a bit crude, but this really is even better than most of the computer battle sims with all of the flashy graphics and all. I would really love a pre-gun "Roman-era" game though. Think you could make it happen? I'd pay three dollars or so for that.
Pretty good game. I like strategy, so that probably makes me a little bias, but it's good anyway. And to Mr. Carbaugh, Antietam was the bloodiest DAY on American soil. Gettysburg was the bloodiest battle. About 50,000 people died.
Absolute MUST for those interested in the American Civil War. A serious tactical wargame.
Nothing but a bunch of misinformed people Antietam was the bloodiest battle of the war not Gettysburg and as far as pushing Forrest to the river only in a video game my man. Dirty Yankee.
Dan and kim carbough. Antietam was the bloodiest single *day*,not battle. Gettysburg was a 3 day battle. Who is misinformed now? you ignorant redneck!
Can't play as the south that's just stupid "heritage not hate"
Really enjoyed playing will have to buy others
Have played PC version for years. Needs "view hex outlines" . Hard to estimate distances otherwise. Otherwise looks like good implementation. Do the other games allow choice of which side to play? If not WHY?
What about gettysburg. You guys have lots of battles, but not the bloodiest battle ever fought on American soil?
Enjoyed playing..have purchased several others
Would be nice to be able to play as the CSA
Please please please release battleground waterloo!!!
I want napoleon waterloo in android and tablet
You should add the option to be a Confederate Commander.
Can't play the CSA? Regardless, it's the best civil war game on here.
Great way to learn
After giving it a few tries I'm really starting to dig this game. It is definitely not something you pick up and learn in 20 minutes and it has one of the steeper learning curves out there, but it's possible. Those that can't figure out what the buttons mean, check help. It's all there.
Downloaded this demo first to check it out and its great! Fun playing and learning along through the scenario tutorials and will now definitely buy some more scenario games. If you like turn based strategy war games based on skill (no dice rolling here) then check this out!
Great game series. (if you'd transfer the Gettysburg and Overland campaigns, i would buy them!). This app is an intro to a strategy series of historical civil war campaigns. Typical hex-based strategy war game-- allocation and management of your units combined with topographical strategy. Only thing i wish ia that every battle would be playable from both sides, rather than one battle union, the next confed. The later campaigns allow this option. A must have, though, for civil war fans
Guy below says Antietem was bloodier than Gettysburg...Antietem was the bloodiest day, Gettysburg is the bloodiest battle.
I would rate higher if it had better controls and the buttons at the top were explained.
So I'll probably download it
Fine military simulation board game. Good mechanics. The automatic defensive opportunity fires, line-of-sight component, and unit disruption, help highlight the importance of positioning, fieldcraft, and logistics. I've played through a few scenario so far and haven't encountered any problems.
