Putting history in your hand - the BBC's first ever Augmented Reality app Civilisations AR brings art and culture direct to you from across the world.
Discover the secrets of ancient Egypt, reveal hidden layers beneath Renaissance masterpieces and learn more about the origins of these cultural treasures and the people who made them.
Treasures to be found include an ancient Egyptian mummy from the Torquay Museum, Rodin's The Kiss from the National Museum of Wales, iconic sculptures from Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth and masterpieces by Tintoretto, Bellini and Turner.
This personal, virtual collection contains over 30 historic artefacts. It is curated by the BBC with contributions from across the UK's heritage sector and is developed in collaboration with Nexus Studios (https://nexusstudios.com)
This free AR App forms part of a major collaboration between the BBC, Nexus Studios and more than 30 museums from across the UK to mark the launch of the new landmark arts and culture series, Civilisations.

Rub through the layers of history with Restore, bringing lustre to a Greek Corinthian helmet or colour to a faded Roman Cockerel statuette and find out what they looked like when new.
Translate hieroglyphics from the British Museum's iconic Rosetta Stone.
Navigate the collection geographically in AR.
Take and share photos of the objects in your home, garden or school.
Advanced AR features are supported on Android 8 : Google’s Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL; Samsung’s Galaxy S8, S8+, Note8, S7 and S7 edge,LGE’s V30 and V30+; ASUS’s Zenfone AR;OnePlus’s OnePlus 5.
We recommend you first run this experience on Wi-Fi.
1. Be Safe
When you're using the Civilisations AR experience, please make sure that you are in a safe environment. Don't use the AR experience while walking or driving and be aware of your surroundings!
Children may start playing without taking time to think about relevant safety requirements and when they get excited they often forget to be aware of obstacles and hazards in their surroundings. Therefore an adult needs to be present to ensure that children are safe when using the Civilisations AR experience.
Also, don't use the Civilisations AR experience if you have a medical condition that may affect you when using it or if you consumed anything that may affect your balance. In any case, stop using the AR experience immediately if you feel nausea, dizziness or any disorientation.

So flipping cool, please you guys can add so much more, keep up the great work, with enough different things you could add the wonders on the world, the possibilities are endless, schools could totally benefit from this omg i wish I had something like this to learn from when I was in school and just in general to learn and have fun anywhere.
Installed, opened, clicked agree... And the app froze. Couldn't get it to even start past showing the name of the app. I'm on a week old brand new pixel 6 pro with fully enabled ARCore so there should be no problems and yet... Uninstalled
Civilisations AR is an amazing app. I think it would be awesome to see more AR educational apps of various painting and artifacts. Works beautifully on my cellphone and i am really love this app. And the info on it was also good. It's really easy to use and downloading. Highly recommend.
It could not get past the civilization Logo. I used a one plus 7pro phone an eighth core processor AArch64 Processor rev 14 (aarch64) - 64bit. 8 GB ram,Adreno (TM) 640 GPU renderer. It should have worked
I love this apps , the 3D rotation and the short intro of each historial items . I feel like I am at the museum, but it would be great if there are captions for every Listening .
Works beautifully on my Moto X4! And I'm seriously loving this app! Got a few of friends to check it out too. I hope they add more artefacts from India tho! The Gandharan Buddha sculpture was really good. And the info on it was also good. Overall I'm just so in love with this app ♥️♥️
Such an amazing app. I am seriously loving this app very easy to use. I would say that i always find that kind of innovations I think it would be owsume to see more AR educational app of various paintings and artifacts

Literally just an intro screen that freezes on startup. Uninstall/reinstall didn't work.
Broken, just intro screen. If an update happens, it was a great app.
I agreed to Terms and Conditions. After that it doesnt stop loading. The loading screen is perpetual. Worst app ever.
This app stays frozen in the title screen. Couldn't do anything with it.
A photography app must show details. Its a good effort better than all those available. We are expecting more from bbc

The app doesn't work. It won't go past the initial logo screen.
Just shows a black screen, and whines about finding a flat surface.
Not useful less impressive.... difficult to us use absolutely worthless and rubbish app
I couldn't even play because all I saw were icons on a black screen.

Freezes on startup, don't install
Couldn't get past the tutorial where it says tap on an empty surface to move the object. There aren't any empty surfaces once the app kicks in so nothing happened. Then I realized the tutorial was misleading and eventually found some interesting things to do. Quite good but needs work, especially the tutorial. Pixel 3, Android 9.
