As a long time fan of Civ computer games and board games, I find this to be a miserable failure. Not because of bugs or crashes, but because the tutorial fails utterly in teaching the INTERFACE, and the constant annoying repetative pop-up "hints" that are impossible to turn off are't just a nuisance that makes the game too frustrating to attempt to learn, it's almost to the level of being insulting because things that the pop-ups SHOULD be telling you are completely absent.

Best mobile game I've ever played. Best part is you can play with no internet. I Use this for entertainment during the night when I'm camping deep woods with no service. Love it! In reply to all these negative comments. I have ZERO issues with this game on my Note 9 even after the last update. Works fine with no issues. Ive had this game since the release (2014) and I've had no issues at all with bugs or crashes through 3 different phones. Best mobile game ever!

Was a huge fan of CivRev1 on console. I bought this over 2 years ago and found it horrendous. I've since stopped playing the console version, and decided to give CR2 another shot. Once you get used to the controls and game play (which I'll admit are a bit clunky) the game plays almost identically to the console game, a bit easier maybe. Dont forget to save before putting it down for an extended period though, or you'll lose a few turns progress.

I have spent tons of time on this game. I like it for the most part. I like how the different civilizations affect gameplay and that you have to play to their strengths. You can use terrain to win battles that you might have lost. There's naval battles, fights for air superiority and fighting over choke points and resources. Plus they leave options for using culture to beat a militarily stronger opponent. What I dislike is the lack of diplomacy. It's always "give us this technology or die" and then it a strength check. Also, it seems like there is a flaw in the combat system. I don't think I've ever heard of a fighter jet being shot down by a musket, but it happens alot here. Also, the units are usually represented in 3s but some of the stronger units only have 2, so sometimes the 3s beat the 2s or 1s just because it had 3 troops representing the unit. It leads to some frustration. Then there's a huge skill gap in the Warlord and King difficulty. It feels like you'll play regular and suddenly all enemies have Infantrymen attacking your Archers because they somehow managed to all discover gunpowder in 3 turns (exaggeration). All in all, I enjoy the game, just wish there was a little more depth to the diplomacy with other nations and the combat mechanics were tweaked.

I am a big fan of the Civilization franchise from way back, so I was excited that I could download this and play on my Chromebook. But... The game is so glitchy; I have to force-close and restart four or five times in order to win a round. Everything just freezes. Thankfully the game auto-saves so I don't have to start from the beginning, but sometimes I do have to replay some activities. Super disappointed in this offering.

The gameplay is mostly fine. The controls are a bit buggy and hard to use at first but you get used to them. There's a stack of changes and updates from previous editions of Civ which aren't well explained. The other nations don't ever seem to declare war on one another either. The security settings in the game are painful. Every time I log in I get an email and so does my wife. Maybe sort out settings so it's a 1 time authorisation instead of a prompt every time.

I really enjoy this game. It's really relaxing and good for when I want something where I don't have to overthink what move I'll make next. The main downside for me is that the game will bug out sometimes and won't show the tech tree or you'll suddenly not be able to accurately hit something on the screen with your finger. It'll be off-center. And when it gets buggy and slows down like that, the only solution is to shut the game down entirely and reopen.

Bad experience! Does not save progress. You play all day long and you go so far and then you press Save button and go to sleep. Next day you want to continue the progress but! When you load the game it kicks you back to the "Almost the begining!" Like a few turns after you started. Very disappointing experience. You can not save the game and take some rest. You have to play it on a single breath from start to finish otherwise you shall lose your progress.

Completely unplayable. Controls are tiny, difficult to use, and not intuitive. You can't cancel movements once initiated, and accidental movements are constant since it's so hard to do anything. And then even if you just suffer through all the mistakes and just keep playing even though your units don't go where you want them to and you can't call them back till they're done with whatever mistaken input the stupid controls thought you wanted them to do, there's still no strategy in it. You just don't have the options to do anything. It would not have been that hard to give this game at least as much functionality as the console versions, but instead they just cut so much out that it's not fun. And that's aside from the controls being absolutely terrible. Definitely uninstalling and demanding my $10 back.

Developers, if your reading this, it's time for an update to the game before it becomes too mundane for Android to run this app. We are now at version 10.0, even it's still compatible it might not be on the next Android system update. Other than that one issue, it occasionally glitches out and crashes. Despite that it runs smoothly. I love the Civ Revolution series...a 3rd needs to be released on the next generation consoles, pc and mobile ( Android and iPhone/iPad).

This version of Civ is so bad it's practically unplayable. Nowhere near enough information displayed to play properly. For example I notice after a few turns that one of my cities is now a Japanese city, but I have no idea when that happened or even how (conversion I assume, but idk if it was from a great person or not). One of many examples of how making a game more simple can end up making it unplayable. I immediately regret my purchase.

Ok game. Lovely adaptation of the original Civ game, but enemy AI is broken. They never fight each other, not much of a challenge, some of the key elements like roaming barbarians and alliances with other civs aren't there, and the game hasn't been updated in 4 years. So its OK but it could be so much more if they just finished the game and fixed the AI bugs.

Certainly not a loss. Longtime Civ fan. Since about '92 if I recall correctly, running generation 1 on a Frankensteined together 286. I understand the limitations of a mobile device hold you back from the game you want to make but less animation and more game would have gone a long way. It's difficult to get invested in the game because everything is too short and too small. What is Civ without a WW2 scenario? Maps are way too damn small. Also, YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO SHUT OFF AUTO END TURNS!!!!

A rare occurrence where the sequel is far and away a worse game than the original. No customizability whatsoever (not even a settings menu to speak of!), tiny maps, slow animations (no "fast forward" mode like the original), terrible UI design and coding, and less depth than the original civ rev. Very disappointing, given the $6.50 pricetag. This feels more like a demo than a full game.

A great game, with only a few flaws, some bigger than others. Graphics are good and the games are fast paced. good for killing time. Good gameplay with the exception of units sometimes not going to a city when you click it, the game occasionally freezing or crashing to desktop and the game being too short (that's just revolution in general.)

Ant. S. Sep 20, 2018

The game stopped working entirely. When it did work it was extremely buggy, building dozens of units per turn. Game has been stripped down to the point of being a childs game. The menu for construction won't load, lost save files. The list goes on, this is a paid app most of these issues should not even exsist. I want my money back!!

Ash. G. Apr 25, 2019

no way am i providing access to my calendar (including the ability to see, create, and delete events). but besides that, the configuration is off or something. i have to click everything to the left of it, for it to actually work. This tactic does not work for buttons already on the left, making it unplayable.

B.. S. Oct 10, 2019

Very disappointing. EA has not updated this games compatibility with newer phones. In fact, they haven't added an update since ----> 2014!!!! Why pay $10 for a phone game that not only doesn't work on current flagship phones, but also hasn't been updated in so long. Not to mention the fact that it is missing key features from the original game. Even when it was operational, it was usually impossible to finish a game without crashing and losing all progress after endless hours.

This looked so promising. I loved Revolution on PS3 and can see why they chose a mobile port. It started badly, with no movement tutorial, resulting in my units running all over the shop. As the later stages developed though, the game went completely and utterly NUTS. Menus I'd been using perfectly functionally started popping open at random. City build menus kept swapping out for 'change research' menus while still open making it impossible to select anything!!! Literally unplayable!

Could be so much better. Android devices have been fairly common for a decade and yet the U.I. is still lacking. Can't see the damage, experience, upgrades etc for units. Icons overlap so they can't be read. Documentation is skimpy. No diplomacy options, only what you are offered. Maps are tiny. Also freezes sometimes on a very good phone.

Jon. P. Mar 20, 2020

I love this game. Have it on the 360, and I'm going back to it. I've tried going through the "achieve all victory types with all characters" achievement three times and it keeps getting deleted. Today the app said it needs to be updated, but theres no update. And when I re-downloaded it, what do ya know!! The achievement progress I spoke of before was gone.. again.. thanks for trying but I'm done.

Ben. P. Nov 24, 2018

I think this could be a better game (it's a pretty good civ port in terms of my understanding of the mechanics), but the places to touch for literally everything is to the left of the icons if you hold your phone the wrong way! I think maybe the app is supposed to be full screen, too, but it doesn't do that.

So glad Google gives refunds. Old and no longer supported. Bought it on sale hoping it could be a fun mobile Civ experience. After starting it up I get several warnings that it was made for an older version of Android and may not work right (I'm using Android 10). But I'm hopeful and I proceed. Next it tries to log into Google play games service and it can't. I hit cancel in the hopes that I can still play but nope, it gets stuck in a loop trying to login and after 3 tries it just crashes.

Similar to the PC version but with much-much simpler gameplay and GUI. Simpler also means faster gameplay but it does good on a mobile platform. Sometimes it reminds me of the original Civ from 1992 but in a good (nostalgic) way. A few elements are a bit unbalanced (for example some wonders and artifacts provide insanely big advantages) and I could use a bit more statistics or a better city review panel, but all-in-all I really enjoy playing this game! I had no compatibility issues on Android 9.

love this app, ridiculously addictive! every now and then it freezes around turn 10-20 but just close the app and continue and it's fine. Although, im trying to tick off all achievements and i can only seem to get 44/46 great people to appear and ive played loads so not sure if it's a glitch? Anyway passes the time quite well and you can play offline too, which is great on a flight!
