Was great for its time Now the best ones are Cereproc. They are only about $2 each voice.

it's good it needs more work, and more importantly more updates for improvement.

PROBLEM FIXED — I reinstalled my Android OS and went on to reinstall Svox and the Victoria voice a purchased. The app installs fine, the voice also. But when i try to launch the voice app in order for it to download the necessary files it hungs on... Checking app license. Please wait... I even installed a trial voice, but i have the same issue. The problem us on my HTC Evo 3D (GSM) phone.

Apparently they're no longer supporting this. Got a new phone and tried to load the voice I was using on my older phone but it kept failing. Emailed their support and my email was returned with an unavailable error message. And I can't get any help from the website they set up. Really annoying because I haven't been able to find a voice I like as much in other apps.

Initial app starts out great but on purchase of Dark Lord I got a pop up loop Internet connection issue which is not the issue. Same thing with Grace but I immediately hit REFUND, then uninstalled all developers apps. Try if you must but don't be surprised, the developer's gone AWOL.

This app worked just fine with Kit Kat and versions of Android prior to Kit Kat but it appears that the app is no longer being supported by it's developers since there has not been any new development on it since 2012. Don't believe the Play Store if you are being told that this app is compatible with all of your devices. The app itself may run but none of the voices for the app will work if you are running Lollipop.

The app only reads what you copy and paste into a box, that's impractical under Android. The voice built-in Android 4 sounds less robotic than the voices they make you pay for. Still looking for an app that does text to speech in an elegant and user friendly fashion.

PLEASE update it to work properly with ICS. Works on Navigation and not much else. Used to work on GB apps so I guess its a matter of you updating SVOX. Seems like its been going on since ICS has come out that there are a lot of people contacting you to get it fixed. As for as I can tell from what I have seen there is no response. I suggest that people avoid paying for this until its been updated past 2011.

Dear developers, in 99% of cases I'd like to use the pronunciation correction option to correct the accentuation of a word. I don't see a simple easy way to do so. Please let me know if there is such an option, or provide one. In that case I'll buy. Without it russian pronunciation is sometimes really annoying. Thanks in advance.

I loved Grace, and it worked until I changed from a SGS3 to a LG G5. SHe went silent and no amount of prodding seems to get the developer's attention. Called Nuance in MA and transferred to CA and talked rep that said we don't support that product anymore. So I guess that it'll be uninstalled now, and added to the abandoned software bin. Thanks Nuance.

If you're on android 6.0.0 or greater this works but you have to change a default setting. Under "Language and Input" look for TTS options, then under Svox options unchecked "Use Optimized Engine". You might have to drill down in advanced settings. I had never tried this setting in Lollipop perhaps it works there too. I still believe this is the best TTS option for android. The ability to customize pronunciation set it up above all others. Just don't expect support, I believe this app is abandoned.

When using my phone I needed to change the text to speech because I rooted it. One problem is when using my phone and I go to close the apps on my s4 I will sometimes see it hanging out with the other apps. Weird and not a big or important problem just sometimes annoying to me. It works good because Google's and Samsung default all failed upon rooting.

no update for almost 2 years drops this app in the abandonware bin, it does work, but system changes in the OS may not work well for new OS versions.. as we have already had several OS updates since the last time this app was updated.. I'd hold off on buying any voices for a while. Google's native voice output app has come a long way and sounds better when you download the expanded packs..

Using a SG5 Active now. I've bin using this for at least 2 years, on 3 different phones, and never had any problems, love it, much smoother then google voice. I'm leaving my rating at 2 stars till I can get an explanation. Hoping you can fix this.

Rev. L. M. Jul 18, 2015

When I first purchased this app, it worked extremely well, and I was pleased with it. However, the developers do not seem to have kept up with the evolution of Android. I have not been able to select SVOX as my TTS engine since Ice Cream Sandwich, nor with Jelly Bean, and now not with KitKat. The last apparent update according to their information here was September, 2012. The tech world moves fast, and it would be nice if the creators of this app showed a willingness to keep up. I'm giving it three stars because it DID work once upon a time, but no longer. UPDATE 2015: I would like to have reported that this problem was finally solved, but alas, I cannot. Here we are at Android 5.1.1, and I am still stuck with the stock Google TTS voice, and no matter how many times I select SVOX as my TTS engine, it will not change over. I have yet to hear any feedback from SVOX on this issue. I would so much rather be listening to their gorgeous synthesized voices... I miss Victoria.

Bar. M. Apr 23, 2016

Broken on Android 6.x (Marshmallow). I just noticed it has NOT BEEN UPDATED IN FOUR YEARS! No wonder it is broken. Google should change policy of abandoned paid apps to free after 1.5 years abandoned or something. This is unacceptable. However, prior to Marshmallow release, worked great on all my devices. NO UPDATES IN FOUR YEARS THOUGH!!! So no improvements in engine, database, voice processing, etc. NOTHING!

Nei. G. Sep 19, 2013

The Victoria voice is the best synthetic voice available at the moment. I'm only giving 4 stars because SVOX is always in my recent apps list, cluttering it up, for no apparent reason. I'm guessing DRM but as a paying customer I find it irritating.

A. G. u. Sep 10, 2013

After upgrading to ICS, the voices I purchased and successfully used have disappeared. I keep reloading them (luckily, I do not get charged again) but they keep disappearing after reboot. I emailed the developer - silence. I want this fixed or get my money back.

Overall its good. But sometime it sounds like oliver wants to cry.. would have given 5 star if you guys can give the jarvis(iron man AI) as well. Cheers

I love the Victoria voice and have been using it through the last 3 years of google maps navigation….but now it doesn't work with the latest update on the samasung s4 mini. PLEASE FIX! I really dislike the american voice default and use Victoria all the time! Please advise!

This used to be the great app, I was using it for some time. However times are changing. 1st nail to coffin was probably acquisition of company by Nuance and stop of support. 2nd nail is, that google voices are as good for free, if not better, so no reason to buy t

I understand the comments about cost now. 04/19/2014. I installed the app to try it to see if it will read kindle books for my Dad who is blind. After installation I installed several trial voices and EVERYONE of them said that the trial period has expired. Hmmm, they expired before I even installed them. Reminds me of Dell computer that did the same thing to me on a NEW computer purchase which they refused to warrant because they said the warranty expired a month before I purchased it. Cost is not the prob
