Classical WETA

I love this station, but the app needs work. The live play feature does not display the artist. Within the app only the DJ and not the song or title of the live play is shown. I require Artist and Title at minimum. I don't know if this is a problem with the app or a problem at the station. But I hold 2 stars in reserve til it gets sorted. Also a widget for the app would be appreciated for Android or Android play on my car.

This is a better experience than listening to the station on a portable radio being overpowered by other closer stations. I love this app. The above still applies. I can't even get the station on my Eton anymore. The Eton is at least 12 years old. I should get a new one. I should get new earphones too. The one I have doesn't fit this phone.

Well organized and easy to operate - very intuitive. 'But,' starting it is a hassle - gotta press and hold the button and no guarantee it invokes so you have to watch it and re-press if no success.

I love classical music and this station provides a wide variety of the ones I know and introduces me to new pieces. They also provide the listener with background on the music and the composer.

Easy to open,but very slow to stream music... And I have 5 g Also in the descriptions it may say piano concerto but there's never a full description of Composer, soloist, orchestra

Terrible application works only from home or any super stable connection. Has no adecquate Streaming capability to be used widely. Sorry for the bad review. But this the only way to fix bad application,and for weta stop advertising this app to be used anywhere.

This is all music, all the time. No ads, no extraneous BS. The linked podcasts and in-depth reviews of composers and pieces is also awesome.

Update: it's been a year since my review and nothing has changed. Sometimes it's unlistenable, the disruptions are so frequent. It completely stops all the time. Friends have the same issue, so it's not my Samsung Note9 or my internet. Comments from 1/25/21: The app is frequently interrupted and reloads itself. I don't have a single steaming app that has problems like this. I downloaded this app when they first launched it, and while I use it often, it is frustrating to hear so many disruptions.

Frustratingly slow scroll of what's playing. Sometimes, the scroll disappears. Like the darned website, the scroll doesn't provide the name of the performer. Under the scroll is a link for the day's playlist, which opens in the app, and the list shows all the performers. A very busy app with links to podcasts, a sleep/alarm function I haven't played with, but if you want to leave the playlist opened to follow along with very Complete information, that's easy enough.

I love having all my WETA info in one place, and it's great to have easy access to all the features--Opera House, Classical Breakdown, etc. One big improvement I'd like to see: when I go to the Playlist, take me right to what's playing now, so I don't have to scroll ad infinitum. Even better, have a What's Playing Now item on the Home screen. Many thanks!

There is an annoying bug. If you use the timer to turn off the music, the app does not start correctly the next time you open the app. When you open it a second time, it opens correctly. If you run device care and clean memory, it opens correctly the first time. I have told the developers, but they can't duplicate the problem. Otherwise it is a great app.

Until recently, one could see the entire playlist for the day. That made it possible to tune in to what was of interest. Now it only shows what has played during the day prior to tuning in. I am interested in what is playing later in the day so I can tune in. What is the use of what has played? Why would I bother to tune in when I have no idea of what is on offer? A very good feature removed and I have no use for the app anymore. Personal preference no doubt. But it was the main attraction.

Works well, although there is a delay BTW the presentation and the info about the piece being played.

Takes way too long to load. Seems like all the images and graphics need to load, and there are too many. Also, stable streaming seems to take a while after finally hearing the program.

The ability to stream is fantastic. However, the stream often drops out durring the news hour. Also they dont have their gain structure set properly. The announcers are much louder than the music.

What did u do??? As of 2/6 update now get dreaded 'unfortunately weta has stopped!, Cleared all cache, data....forced stop....reinstalled...rebooted. Same results! Listening to QXR, WGBH NOW. SORRY U lost a listener. Please revert back version! UPDATE after reporting got response and with 2/12 change can now launch. Thanks !

Crashes often, even before it starts to play any music. Too bad because it's great to have on while putzing around. Great music when it works and superb DJs.

I love listening to the Christmas music, it's beautiful & soothing Why why why did you change the Playlist! It's absolutely useless now. I would always go through to see what I wanted to hear. What good is it to only see what already played. It's very depressing! Why can't it go back to the way it was!

This app loads really slowly but once open provides the user with all radio station info. Really like the playlist to know what's playing and have used it to expand my classic music knowledge.

overall, it is a good app; however, it stops running while I am listening to it. I have to keep going back into the app and restart the play button.

Always crashing, takes forever to connect and start listening. Takes a long time for play lists to load and a majority of songs are not on Arkiv Music anymore.

Wonderful, though I find it hard to use the Archive Music link.

Love WETA app, tells me what's playing. Only wish it would add the composer to the horizontal scrolling in addition to the name of the piece, gotta have the composer, too!

Like the app but really wish it would show the work AND the composer AND the performer/orchestra at the top where it shows what is currently playing. I have to go into the daily list and scroll way down to get this info.

I love being able to play WETA through the app, but please fix the "Now Playing" info. It is often wrong, and even when it's right it shows only the name of the piece, not the composer.

I love WETA, and have been a member for decades. The previous version of this apparently didn't work with some phones. I got a new phone, and you updated the app. It does what it's supposed to do, now.
