So what exactly is Clear Note Widget? Is it an app or a widget?
- Both! Clear Note Widget's main feature lets you place transparent notes that blend in with your home screen, but it also functions pretty well as a standard note app (opening it through the shortcut). Regular (aka non-widget) notes can also be password-protected/encrypted.
How do I add a widget to my home screen?
- You'll first need to tap the App Drawer icon. This should bring up a list of your applications with two tabs near the top of the screen: Apps and Widgets. Tap the widgets tab, and scroll over to the right (swipe left) until you get to the Clear Note Widgets. From there, just tap on your desired size (you can always resize later*), hold, and you'll be able to drop the widget on any of your home screens.
How do I resize a widget?
- While on a home screen, press and hold a Clear Note Widget for about 1-2 seconds, then let go. You should see a box around your note widget with some blue "handles" at the corners. Drag the handles either towards or away from the widget, depending on whether you'd like the widget to be smaller or larger.
*I can't seem to resize my widget to a smaller size. What's the deal?
- You might be running Android 3.1 or 3.2. Android 3.1 introduced widget resizing but only above a minimum width and height. So a 2x2 widget could be resized anywhere between 2x2 and 4x4, but never smaller than 2x2. This was fixed in Android 4.0+, but aside from upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich, the only solution is to add a 1x1 widget to the home screen (which will let you resize to any larger size and back).
How do I create a regular note?
- Regular notes (the non-sticky kind) can be created directly from the Clear Note Widget app. Just run Clear Note Widget from your App Drawer or the shortcut icon, and press the "Create a New Note" button!
I don't like having to change my background color, text colors or font sizes every time. Help!
- No problem! You can set up your default options (editor font size, background, text colors, font sizes) by tapping on the Settings icon (the one with the two circles) while editing a note or the notes list screen. There's a slight difference between the two: the widget note Settings menu lets you set your current widget options as the default, while the notes list Settings menu lets you select the actual default options!

everytime I want to change font or backup... it will not change. I'm a busy person with limited patience. If I have to spend more than 5 minutes on the settings and still can't get the colors to change...uninstall and look for better app. This would be nice if the settings changed. Pressing Save meant nothing to save my settings.
great concept terrible delivery..... cannot edit a created widget .... to me it seems like a pretty simple process you bake a box that holds some text and that's it and then you can change the color of the fonts ... this seems that it believed that but it won't for some reason you can't edit widgets and you can't add new information I don't know it's terrible
was pretty neat, but lacks updates: the notes on the home screen don't immediately change when you edited them and now some notes appear to be broken, the still show, but i cannot open them. Dont buy.
For a paid app, you would be expecting it to function correctly. Please fix the issue with notes not updating/refreshing when contents are changed. Enough people have mentioned this issue.
Works well enough, although it is a real pain to have to copy/paste my list into a new note to get edits to show on the home screen, rather than just properly updating the visible widget.
Seriously? I have to create a new note each time I want to revise/update my current list? Why doesn't it update the widget when I update the note?! That should be automatic! Yeah, what a waste of a buck. Deleting until you correct this issue.
This app suppose to be synchronizing. When u change your device, the previous infomation saved should be restored. But this app does not synchronize, and its a paid app. Pls it should be upgraded to synchronize.
NOT EDITABLE AFTER DISPLAYED. AFTER EDITING NOTE AND SAVE, IT SHOWS AS BEFORE EDIT - NO CHANGE ON SCREEN. Unable to add note from app into screen widget... IT'S A MESSY APP. GOOD AS BANNER MOSTLY. GLITCHY. PAID AND DISAPPOINTED.
Could be a great app. Last update 2014 (really). Will not allow you to edit note. You have to start from scratch everytime.
What happened to this app?? I woke up the other day and years worth of notes I had on it from personal to financial are literally gone...no backup nothing, just GONE!! BEYOND frustrated!😖
PLEASE DON'T BUY. Very bad app. Doesn't save changes. Doesn't work in any capacity, this after they took my money.
cant change anything once you make the note, have to start again if you even want to chnage a word after..... disappointing. i dont recommend paying for it
Was looking for a transparent widget. Clear notes are not transparent, as the name would suggest.
Can't just have a note without a note title. Only the note title shows, not the body of the note. Bummer!
Simple and useful, how to change another fonts style; bold, italics, etc?

Exactly what I was looking for. Fits my phone theme perfectly being transparent. Only one minor issue. Colors and sizes on widgets reset to original default after resize. I need to open and save the note to fix again. This is despite the defaults being changed to my preference already. Not a big issue worth a star reduction. But worth mentioning. Thanks for a great app! The best part is NO bogus permissions. None period for that matter.
Love this app. It creates beautiful notes and messages to myself and is exactly what I was looking for... EXCEPT the only problem is the same as others have stated, the message on the note does not update if you change the body text after you first create it, which is IMPERATIVE for me. MAJOR FLAW !! I might be willing to wait it out until they fixed this bug.
I'm so sad! I've been using this app for years and suddenly it's not working right anymore. I had to wipe my phone and reinstall all the apps and since the wipe it's malfunctioning. I can create a note widget and whatever I write in it initially shows up fine but if I edit and hit save it doesn't update in the displayed widget. I've found that it'll refresh if I restart my phone but I don't want to have to restart my phone or make a new widget every time I edit the note. So goodbye Clear Note. This is a sad breakup!
This app lets me add "to do" notes on my home screen without any sticky notes by using the transparent feature. I would appreciate more than just one font option. Otherwise, it's a great app.
I have been using this app on note 2 and note 3. It works perfectly. However after changing to LG g3, there has been some glitches. From time to time, the app will forget the most recent changes I made to my notes and bounce back to the older version. It's as if they undo my changes. Yet when I click on the notes, they redo the chanhes back. Please fix this before I need to find another bug free app.
Great app, I've only had 1 bug. I just updated my Nexus 5X to Android 7.0 and the list won't show any changes unless the phone is restarted. Changes are saved and when you open the list the changes have been made but the one on the home screen does not update unless restarted. Update 2/18/19: The above bug still has not been changed. 5 star app when it worked but it is basically useless now.
I loved this app but it keeps disappearing from my Samsung s4 without warning and with no back up. Twice I've lost all my lists and its so frustrating. Is there any way to get it all back? If not i'll be un-installing and giving up on what was the best and most useful app on my phone :(

BUYER BEWARE! This app does not let you update your notes. You have go in and make a whole new note if you want to edit the note in any way ie font color, size, text ect. It is impossibly frustrating! It's cheap but what's the point if it doesn't work properly. Getting my refund. Also it would of been nice if they added a checklist function and let you cross off things you've done but it doesn't even function as a regular note pad so...
