Clear Sky Droid (free)

This app lacks 2 things. The first is an algorithm that brings all the 8 different scales into a simple single readable scale, like down to what magnitude stars might be visible in the next 48 hours. The second thing is it needs to take into account the background light pollution for you area. THAT would be a useful app. This is a swing and a miss to me.

It says I am in Calgary, and I am. I am not sure if this app only pulls from Canadian cities which may explain why some other reviews show newfoundland when they live on the east coast of the us. That would be the closest Canadian place to them. So if you live in Canada, this should work perfectly, otherwise, for take your chance.

If this app had a Widget it would be awesome - I want to see what the upcoming conditions are at a glance - not have to dig into the app. Also, notifications/alerts of upcoming sky conditions are a must for this to take the place of the website. I would definitely pay for those 2 functions. Unfortunately I don't find myself using this much otherwise.

I've used this app for several years on my droid smartphone. Works great on phone, but not on Galaxy 2 tablet. When selecting "nearest" it gives Newfoundland charts (thousands of miles away). Won't let me manually input my city. PLEASE FIX so it works on wi-fi tablet.

This app hangs and freezes up. Search function doesn't bring up the keypad. And if I choose closest charts, it shows me Newfoundland. I will re-rate when these issues are repaired.

While the app itself works very well, it would be very nice to have a legend for the chart explaining the different colors (as on the Web version)

App instantly freezes. The back button doesn't even work. Had to reboot my phone.

What an awesome app! Clearskies Clock is one of the most valuable tools in amateur astronomy. The only thing that could make this a 5 star app would be the option to enter a custom observing site. Mr. Danko has made some custom sites from individuals. Other than that, excellent app.

Cracking idea but like most apps us over in England have been left of the search :-(

There is only one thing that really annoys me. There is no menu option to exit the app, or two back key exit function. Rest is awesome.

The app freezes up all the time and thinks I'm in Newfoundland but I'm on the west coast. Will not allow me to search for my town.

Great app From the time it downloaded to the time it had loaded in all my local stations was about a minute and a half Easy to search. It's exactly what I wanted

Great for checking the weather when planning to view the night sky, as it always has accurate info, but the design is quite repulsive.

Terrible. Forced closed everytime. Closest city it found was on other side of country. I'll just stick to website.

The developer needs to realise that there are other countries in the world other than America.

The same as others. Gives newfaundland in the nearest list, whereas I'm in Europe. can't enter a place to search for and hangs. Thought I'd finally found what I was looking for, but this is real disappointing.

As an avid astronomer, have used this for years and it works great on android. Most useful for figuring out nights when I'm not going to get any sleep :-)
