Brilliant app - well worth the very small cost. Does everything I need for tuning baroque and classical woodwinds. Changing pitch is a little long-winded but that's only a minor complaint. Oh - and when in a non-equal temperament in 'English' note display it reads Ab when it is tuning to G#. Again only very minor quibbles in a very usable and useful app.
It can have some trouble occasionally where it flips between notes as you are tuning, but you should be aware of the general pitch so it isn't an issue. It doesn't do much in terms of fancy features or anything beyond pitch recognition and producing a set pitch. It does have issues with freezing but killing the app and restarting it fixes the issue. It still seems to give the most accurate pitch identification. It really needs a stability update since it's last update was in 2012.
Have been using this app since 2013 and at that time it was the best out there, but has not had any updates for 9 years, and is not optimized for the latest versions of Android, so have been trying Carltune and it is just as accurate, but with more features, regular updates and a better UI, I paid the 3.99 for the add fee version
I have used Cleartune for years but must switch as the app stopped updating their features on Android. Of particular grievance is the loss of customizable temperaments, disappointingly still listed in the "features" section of the description. It would be too bad if someone were to spend the money on the app thinking it would deliver this feature only to find it missing from the current version.
Very non-intuitive to use! Perhaps it would make more sense if I were a music thoery undergraduate student!?? I paid for the app, and is so difficult to use, I literally don't use it. I just want to be able to tune my guitar in standard tuning, drop d, and down a whole step. Oh, and my bass to standard tuning and drop d. I can't seem to pull if off! I wish that I didn't spend money on this!
Best, most accurate tuner ever. Every bit as accurate as my strobe tuner but easier to use. Hasn't had (or needed) an update in a long while but that shouldn't deter you from trying it. It's pretty much perfect as is. Try it! You can thank me for the tip later. 😊
very helpful for practicing intonation on the violin, however i found two problems. 1) The sound stops by itself without me turning it off. 2) The volume gets lower as I move onto lower notes while it gets louder when i get to higher notes. Because of this, I can hardly hear anything below the A 440hz while notes above the D note one octave higher are very loud. Please fix these two issues and I will give 5 stars.
I had this app on my iPhone 6 and LOVED it. I used it to Tune my Cornet and also as a Pitch Pipe for A Capella Singing. I used it for Years I repurchased and installed it on my Samsung S10e and it does not work. It appears that an update may be required for new Android Phones I rated a 3 because it is actually a 5 for iPhone and 0 for Android
This is the most accurate tuner ever made. Nothing beats it. But... this is app is in dire need of an update. And if the developers are not working it anymore. We shouldn't be charged for an app that hasn't been updated since 2012 and crashes on newer phones.
Great tuner app. Unfortunately the UI has scaling issues on large screen phones like the Samsung S8... last update goes back to 2012. After upgrading to pie im getting system notifications to update it... won't recommend anymore
I like the idea but this app is too fickle. You can open the app and it will show notes as out of tune. You can tune your instrument and then close and open the app again and it will show everything as sharp or flat. Not for me
Needs updating for Samsung s10 and potentially other new phones. I previously used this app with other phones and it worked great and did exactly what it is meant to do. Easy to use setup and accurate tuning.
Works great sometimes. It can't figure out if I'm playing an a or an e and often wildly flips back and forth between the two making tuning almost impossible. They need to work on how to handle overtones on bowed string instruments
I've been happy with it for years, but now it is freezing, and freezing the entire phone as well. Restarted phone, same thing. Uninstalled it and reinstalled, same thing. Paid for it, what now?
installed on a brand new Samsung Galaxy... has never worked, does not respond to sound or the touchscreen. I used the iOS version for years and loved it
It works great and is very accurate. I've been using it for over a year but recently it keeps freezing whenever i try to open it up and this is a constant issue.
This used to be fab, the best tuner I had found. But it doesn't work on my now 1 year old Huawei. It just freezes and is unresponsive.
Refund period too short. Didn't find all defects in time. Didn't produce droning sound, can't always find mic, freezes up forcing exit of all apps.
Hello! I loved this app on my Galaxy S6. But It will not install properly on my Galaxy A11. The download progress from the Google Play store is stuck on 'Pending....' Any help would be appreciated!
Functional, simple, and reliable. I use this app whenever I am practicing wind instruments and it helps me hone my intonation. Absolutely essential. I love this app.
Used to work very well, but I recently switched to a Huawei P20 and it doesn't work anymore. I open the app and It freezes.
Pretty sweet. Seems to freeze sometimes , though. Last update 2012. Hmm.. maybe time for an update with some bug fixes?
I've had it for years over two devices and many Android o/s updates and it still works excellently on my ancient Nexus7 A6 and much newer S10e A11. In fact it just helped me diagnose a guitar tuning problem proving I need to take it to a luthier.
Was a great app that I didn't mind paying for, but it doesn't work on the S10. So I have wasted my money. Don't buy this app if you a S10 and possibly other newer phones.
Doesn't work on Android, crashes as soon as you try to launch the tuning function.
It can tell you what frequency that is being heard. You can set it to a note that YOU want to hear. Perfect as a tuner.
I have had this installed on every device since I purchased. Accurate on all of them, and incredibly handy on stage to help out forgetful fiddle players or guitarists all in one go.
I am a beginner violinist and was looking for tuning apps since the tuner I bought was no good. This app is amazing and makes it super easy to tune my violin
App crashes often. This problem is only recent as it proved to be one of the best tuners I had tried but now it's unusable.
I just started taking guitar lessons so as a total noob I can say that this tuner flat out rules. I tried the free Boss tuner but felt that I needed more visual reinforcement. Using this tuner is like stepping on a scale to weigh yourself so the user interface is very intuitive. I really appreciate how the tuner responds in real time. I detected very little latency if any. They could double the price and it would still be a bargain.
