Wish I would have read the reviews before using. Overrated, annoying, and overpriced, and you'll get charged extra in fees with no explanation or way to get it back. Avoid! Paid for the "plus" subscription ($5.99) only to be charged an additional $3.99 with no authorization or reason why; the exact amount I "borrowed" was in my account and ready to be paid back, so, that ended up messing my account up! $10 in fees to borrow $25, that's such robbery! Not happy, terrible app.
Was approved for $20, which I figured whatever, start small. Every time they went to release the money, there was an issue. On top of that, they took 5.99, twice, which they did refund. It was a real waste of time, took over an hour of trying ti grt my payment to go through, all of that over 20 bucks. Gladly got my refund, closed account and would never go there again. Possible is a much better app, more money loaned out, and no stupid AI to deal with. Cleo is teh suck
Pretty awesome app. I don't use it for the lending feature or the credit builder feature. I got that on 3 other cards already. However, if I didn't have those already, I would pay for it. I love how cool the app is. It really breaks down your spending habits and the roasting is Hilarious. I'm not on social media, but I'm sure they use that lingo and it can help teach financial literacy to the younger generation.
Got double charged on my repayment, and got vague responses of 'It'll get fixed eventually, here's your monthly subscription fee refunded for now' but I really need the actual amount back. If it's not refunded soon, I'll be contacting my bank and reporting this as a fraudulent charge and reporting to the BBB. Update: Previous issue was fixed thought it took longer than necessary, everything has been smooth since then.
This app sucks. You subscribe to plus and you still can't get any advance. It's always this failed,try again. Or the app has lost connection with bank account. Asked for a refund and all you get is some stupid computer generated answer, totally unrelated to your question. App is a total waste of time!
Absolutely terrible app, I have been trying to get a salary advance from this app for over 3 months, paying for the cleo plus subscription every month, enter every detail I need to only to keep coming to a dead end when I put my debit card information in when iam accepted for a $20 advance and same message keeps popping up every time saying "card_detail_failure" and I can't even talk to someone to help me... for over 3 months trying. Terrible
Overall great experience! There are some minor updates that I would really like to seehd4éd seeing in the near future as it relates to navigating through the app/website with a greater amount of confidence and efficiency.
I had the free cleo account and tried to set up a cleo plus account. They are telling me there is another account when I entered my phone number. I have had this number for over 15 years. Until I can get to someone that can truly help me it will be one star. The customer service here is horrible no one available to help over the phone, chat or email. I have all my credentials. Also they charged me the $5.99 for the month. Just horrible service.
Everythings pretty straightforward and it really does make it easier to keep track of your finances...I agree the roasting is hilarious...and very crude....which is totally my style...but most importantly, its informative...I had no idea I had pissed away $25,000 in such a short amount of time...oh and the cash advances are ok...they only started me off being able to borrow $20 at a time... which was the same amount Albert and Moneylion started me off at...hopefully it'll increase over time.
If I could leave 0 stars, then I absolutely would. I downloaded this app, and immediately canceled. Soon after funds were being deducted out of my account. There is no way to contact customer service except through texting the app. I'm so annoyed with this app.
They took my money out of my account which they tricked my into thinking that I could borrow money from them. Turns out I'm putting my money into THEIR bank app and now I can transfer my money back. Not only that they don't give you the option to cancel the subscription yourself. If I could give this 0 Stars I would. Bunch of money hungry a-holes that take advantage of people needing money, especially in these hard times.
I have never used this app or heard of it before I found a total of $299.99 taken out of my checking over 8 transactions. If this is a budgeting app to save money fraud is not saving me anything. Why can I not find a direct customer phone? Never trust an app to keep your info safe. I want my money back.
Horrible. I signed up and paid out $15.79 to sign up for required memberships while being told I qualified for payday advance and once I dished out the moolah...was all of a sudden not eligible for any payday advance. And then was told I have to wait 45 days to get a refund of my money. I was already short on monthly budget which is why I was signing up for Cleo-to get the payday advance- and now I'm short even more for the month! Do not download or sign up if you are in a financial bind!
Responses are a little limited, and I do wish you could tell her that things like Shell are for transportation or Zelle is for rent and Instacart is for groceries, but for what she's for, Cleo is awesome. Fun and relatable budget chatbot. She can be set to roast you or hype you, so don't be scared if you think she's mean. The constant unnecessary update notifications are really annoying when she doesn't need an update!!!!
My card was declined despite having enough credit. They don't have a customer service number to contact them at so I had to hitch a ride home from the airport. Their only help option is a message system which generates auto responses unless you say the magic words to let it give you permission to message somebody. If you're going to offer a credit card product as a service you need to offer people support.
I Love ❤ this app. Once you get it set up and correct all the screw-ups you entered first, it's like having your bitchy best friend saying don't spend that, don't spend this. It really draws your attention to those weak moments but in a playful way.
Do not recommend. Customer service is non-existent, I've tried contacting them many times & didn't get a response even once. Cleo now has an account open the "credit builder card" affecting my credit score, yet I've never received an actual card or any help/answers on the situation. With Cleo having so much access to my financial information it's scary that I can't talk to an actual human.
The was trying to take the 5.99 monthly subscription payment or the $44 yearly payment the day you request for advance. If I had the money for the subscription I wouldn't need an advance. so I am deleting my account. If I need advance what makes this app think I have money to give them first.
It's higher prices than most other apps with the same financial features. Personally I don't use Cleo for advances and only use the free service. I love this app because I can track all my finances in one place for free and it makes keeping up with it all hilariously fun. If all you really want is advances you may want to consider a different app, or enrollment in a budgeting class, or maybe a credit union instead of a bank.
So far I'm loving Cleo! I sometimes forget I'm not speaking to a real person, and just talk normal and confuse her, but she's a very understanding and forgiving computer! Cleo has a way of making you understand why your credit score may not be very high. Sure opened my eyes to all the frivolous spending I was doing, and still do sometimes, sorry Cleo! But truly a really fun and very informative app! Definitely have and will continue to tell my friends and family about Cleo. Thanks Cleo!!!💕
Charged me twice In a row and due to that I ended up going over in my bank account by exactly that amount... and ended up having to pay 60 in overage fess and instead of admitting they made a mistake and sending me the money back they said they did it because I didn't pay past months when my account had insufficient funds and wasn't able to use cleo anyways because if you don't pay all services get turned off.... #fcleo
Cancelled my subscription months ago, my bank account & debit card are not connected, BUT YOU GUYS KEEP CHARGING ME. Customer service is useless, sent out an email almost 2 weeks ago and nobody gets back to you. Just automated responses through the app. Make it super difficult to talk to an actual person.
Constantly trying to get you to sign up for more products. When you do and have an issue, can't get help. Also, whenever you try to do anything within the app, you get these automated snarky messages. So, you get mocked on top of not getting help. They really need to do something about these messages. They are infuriating.
Waste of time. They charge 6 bucks gor subscription and won't give advances until u pay them. If I had money I wouldn't need an advance. Even though I've linked my bank and they can clearly see I have recurring paychecks deposited every week they still won't advance me anything unless I have the $5.99 to subscribe TODAY!!!...instead of just adding it to when they take money out of my next paycheck
It was good at first I had to overdraft from my bank to pay some bills and now I'm not even eligible for a 20 dollar loan even tho I get direct deposits constantly but there quick to charge you the 5.99 for the subscription so why am I paying for If I'm not eligible to borrow custome service is pretty much non existent all bots app is a good concept but could be better and more trusting especially when you get deposits constantly
I paid the subscription an there's no problem with my bank or debit card cause I just got off the phone with them. Tried reconnecting my bank account and it put my eligible for 30$ down to 20$ and still isn't working when I've checked everything off the list and it says I'm eligible. Not to mention there's NO SUPPORT other than what u see as responses to comments
After sometime I was finally able to get the salary advance by using a completely different card separate from the bank account I signed up with. Overall though I really like the style of the app and the interface. Wrote my previous review prior to this and jumped the gun but I feel more details regarding which cards can be used would help a bit. Also whenever I ask Cleo to change cards she keeps prompting the credit builder. Thank you for the reply.
Has been stuck on the "Cleo is just getting her circuits ready..." for a long time. I tried logging out and logging back in. I tried uninstalling it. It never gets past that screen after connecting my bank.
It connects to my bank, I know that it's connected to my bank because she keeps telling me when I get paid, but I can't ever get past the first splash screen saying that it's adjusting her circuits. It doesn't work. I have updated it three times uninstalled and reinstalled three times
Has so much potential! It seems like a great app for the most part but I can't change any settings or amounts in the Savings section and I can't find anywhere to report or troubleshoot technical issues for the app. All the help options are for assistance with using the various services in the app, not issues with the app itself. I really wanted to like it but the main reason I downloaded it was for help with bolstering my savings and I can't do anything with that section of the app.
