Love the game but when it comes to local play, this app falls through. The app ran fine and then all of a sudden I was having trouble scrolling on my sheet, then it would put info in that I didn't put in, because of the lag. Then I try to scroll again - its now circled one of the cards. Sometimes I can't even get into the cluesheet or have to press 8 times to insert a ? Or number into the block. It really slows down the game for me and so I can't keep up, especially when it's AI's turn. Pls fix

It was a little difficult at first to get it to sync with the code from Nintendo Switch, but once we got it to work then it was great. Played with 3 players on mobile phones while hosting the game on the switch. A little strange at first, but overall worked great. Biggest challenge was getting the players to join with the code.

It works fine. Everyone could join and play with no problem. However, if someone does time out, they can't rejoin and their character becomes AI. It would be nice if they could re-enter the game. Also, I find that the app works faster than what was viewed on the screen. But everything else was okay, no bugs nor glitches. I love that this game exists because when I used to play on the board as a child, I always wanted to see what the room actually looked like and now I can!

Review for before 3rd july update! I was a little worried due to all the low reviews. We took the plunge and got the base game on the Switch and the app works relatively well! Hence 4 stars. First time worked flawlessly. After that it the host would disconnect on start up, or one player would disconnect. However after a few restarts and once into a game, it was solid and a lot of fun. Hoping the update today solves some of these issues!

This is an awesome app to use for local multiplayer. unfortunately it is still very buggy. Sometimes the code will be accepted but you wont show up on the select screen it regularly kicks you out of the game and the AI takes over. or then it lags and the game really slows down. Generally speaking its great app but really needs the bugs addressed.

Somebody PLEASE fix this app/game. It's so cool and enjoyable but multiplayer is a mess. Constantly crashes, has random people in the lobby, says the host leaves when no one does anything. It's frustrating when everyone's on the couch ready to have a good time and you have to try 50 times to just get into a game.

Not only was this the worst purchase ever but also a huge waste of my time. I wish I would've looked at the reviews before downloading or spending $19.99 in an attempt to play the game with my family. We made several attempts to play with no avail. Nintendo has a stipulation where they wont issue refunds regardless of their poor choice to offer such a terrible game to the public. No wonder it was discounted. Should've been the first red flag. Learn from mine, and several others mistakes!

Works worth the switch. Honestly this was the only way we were ankle to play because the internet hiccups were disconnecting our switches. May I suggest a local game with no internet required for multiple switches that have a copy of the game? Also we were led to believe that you couldn't play with multiple people on a single Switch from the description. But that's a different issue, the app is decent. 5 Stars.

We cannot play a local multiplayer game because we continuously receive a message saying: "passcode incorrect". Now, after reading the reviews it seems as if the developers have given up on fixing this issue: it sounds like this has been going on at least since May. Avoid this game at all costs. The copy paste response is insufficient at this point. We have selected Host local multiplayer, but the passcode provided does not let us play. Very frustrating

Literally can't even play. Get to the "choose your character" screen, and then nothing happens. Get a loud bell sound when choosing, but then absolutely nothing happens and I can't even go back to the title screen as the back button doesn't work. Complete waste of money on the switch since we literally bought it just to play local and can't.

I downloaded this yesterday and keep getting getting an invalid passcode when trying to play with others. We all have the latest version of the companion. Second issue is that when we get past the passcode screen and trying to "lock" the players in to start playing the game, the game kicks us out and we have to start all over again. So far, we've been able to play one full game together. Hoping that this all gets fixed so that we can play many more. thanks.

Love the idea to play with people in the same room but you can't use your phone for anything else. It'll disconnect you mid game and will not let you back in. Sometimes when joining the first time you have to click join 100 times or reboot the app to join. At one point I had random people in my lobby when trying to play with family and you can't kick them out if you are the host. There also isn't a mini tutorial if you wanted to use the app which it needs it.

It's fun the whole one time in a row that it works. We actually got it to work twice in a row and then when we went to play the 3rd game it started the "passcode incorrect " nonsense. Tried exiting the app. Uninstalling/reinstalling to no avail. So basically when you are pumped to play another game it quits working and leaves you super disappointed. Wish we would have know this before spending $30 on the game. Wish they would fix the app.

Terrible. It works about 1 out of 8 tries. It "times out" too quickly. It gives different names in the lobby. I doesnt bring up the right board and characters you pick. When you are waiting for the right chatacter to load it "times out." Then when you get it to start the game after the 8th try to get in, the dice dont roll. So you leave the game to see about getting in again and it wont let you even after putting the same passcode in again. Get in after 8 tries then cant roll.

This app does not work at all. Got the game half off for $20 on switch. The switch can barely make it into the menu without crashing to the home screen, and if it does, the passcode to join a local game simply does not work. I got it to let me in once after trying dozens of times but it then crashed on the loading screen. Absolute waste of money.

I have purchased the full Nintendo switch version of clue in the hopes of playing with my friends. I then downloaded the free companion app (and so did my friends) only to have the app not download saying "I may not have purchased the app". My friends attempted to continue to play without me, how ever none of the apps worked properly and no player could even roll the dice to start the game. This is incredibly poorly designed and definitely lowers the value of the game I already purchased.

Horrible to use. App hardly ever connects. Timeout is way too short. Sometimes the app just never loads. Other times the lobby loads up random players that don't even actually exist! Total waste of money if you're wanting to play local co-op. Single player though works great.

Thought it was really cool you could play the game with people sitting on the couch. Too bad the app is complete trash. Whether I'm on data or connected to the WiFi my gaming PC is physically LAN wired to the app tells me there is no WiFi or data connection detected. Do you just not support this app anymore?

Very good. I just don't like the season pass and wish you could buy themes individually. Also the music on the winter stage is boring. Wish you could turn off the note pad auto-filling for you.

Kyl. H. Mar 25, 2020

Absolutely terrible! Couldn't even get friends around the same couch to connect to the a local multiplayer using a Switch. Waste of money - avoid if possible!! Update: It seems that the latest software update fixed the issues...not holding my breathe, but it's worked the first 2-3 games we've played with the update.

Cant even get in to play one game. We keep trying to play a local multiplayer game, but it won't allow us to proceed past the join stage. We got to one point where one person was able to choose their character, but no one else could. We gave up after 30 minutes of trying. Looks like fun but is currently unusable for the multiplayer family mode. Wish we could get a refund for the Switch game.

Mar. T. May 27, 2019

The app doesn't work for local multiplayer on the switch. It always says incorrect passcode whenever you try to enter the lobby. On top of that, the few times you can get in, it joins with a bunch of randoms for some reason. Until they fix these problems I do not recommend getting the game. Waste of money.

When I come back to this game, I'll change my review if it works better. It took more tries than I can count to get a local game going on mobile devices without glitches, and we had to settle for no AI. I'd give more specific feedback if asked. I'd love to make this game better, it's a great concept. Playing with Switch game.

Cat. S. Mar 31, 2020

Downloaded this game for local play, immediately the pass codes wouldn't work. Read a few reviews, through perseverance got the game to work once. Tried to play a second round and the app no longer displayed the place to enter the pass code and was stuck on the character select screen after pressing play. Very irritated that we spent $20 on this (yes, we got it on a 50% off deal but still not even worth that much).

For a developer well aware of an issue they are horrible at resolving it. As per Marmalade's faq page: "some players have found that the problem can be temporarily worked around by deleting and reinstalling both the Switch/Steam game and the Cluesheet Companion on the mobile device. We apologise for the inconvenience." This is in response to the phone/switch connection issue (ie invalid passcode), a temp fix to a major problem. Don't waste your time/money and just stick to the 1person mode.
